Review Some Of That Great News From 2019
Alright, guys excited about some good news to be shared today and especially looking back at 2019. We had so much to share I mean, in fact, I don’t think you guys got through all your 2019 good news on our Friday programs but this is a great time to look back over the year, our last Friday of the year, and review some of that great news we got from 2019.
There’s Been A Lot Of Positive Things That Have Happened In Congress
Tim Barton:
Yeah, it really was a surprising year in some respects with how well, things happened in the economy with some of the dramatic conversions in people’s lives. With things happening, although there’s been some certain storms and nonsense in Congress and with impeachment and with different things that have been happening.
There’s been a lot of positive things that have happened in Congress, with we talked about judicial appointments and we have talked about so many things. In fact, we have in front of us a stack of just the headlines of all of the articles that we have read or discussed on good news Friday up to this point and there are hundreds of good news articles.
We have covered throughout this year. And so we thought, let’s just review a little bit to remember how good some things were this year because even though all of our lives can be in different places, and maybe not everybody’s having a great moment or an enjoyable season in your life, nonetheless, there are some things we can look back and be very grateful to God that certain things happen. victories we’ve seen in the nation politically, but also spiritually, so certainly a lot we can look at.
So, David, I will yield to you first.
What are, looking back over this last year? Again, we’re looking at the same stack of hundreds of articles. What are some things that you see in the top of your list of these hundreds of articles?
Most Young Adults Disagree With Democrats On Abortion
David Barton:
Well, and looking back over the articles, we really, I mean, we have headlines as you said, hundreds and hundreds and hundreds. And I was just struck that even on this one page, I’m holding it and we never cover good news Friday according to categories.
You know, we don’t say let’s do judges or foreign nations or Trump or anything else would just cover them but here on this page of headlines, I am struck with just whole bunch that deal with abortion and polling on abortion. And this came out as ever call after the democrats had really gone pretty radical on abortion one in late-term abortions and even infanticide and you know, New York and Virginia were talking the way they did.
But here’s a headline that says most young adults disagree with Democrats on abortion. Here’s one that says six and 10. Americans want Roe v Wade changed to allow abortion restrictions. Here’s one 62% of Americans oppose aborting babies if they have Down syndrome.
The Victories In State Courts
Tim Barton:
And you know, we’ve talked about this throughout the year, it seemed it’s very seldom that we have a good news Friday, where we did not cover some kind of victory came to life, whether it be the position of rising generations, the victories in state courts, because we’ve talked about even people that we with our pro family legislators conference working with state legislators, how often that some of our state legislators and their states were doing some really impressive things and even in and we’ve talked about in the state of Texas, how surprised we were at how many laws have passed to support life to protect life to go against abortion.
Since Roe vs. Wade, it was actually 54 laws and they produce a 70% drop in abortions in Texas. And that also includes with the closing of abortion facilities and the restrictions put on the ones practicing there and I was a doctor right but maybe not all doctors nonetheless but on those who are practicing the abortion procedures and on the clinics themselves the standards they have to meet. There were so many things [cross-talking 05:30].
The Rising Generation For Good Pro-Life Stuff
David Barton:
Well done. You just mentioned the closing of clinics and this headline right here. I’m going back over from the year. It says that in 1991, there were 2100 are actually 2200 open clinics. Today there are 700 open clinics, so roughly 1500 clinics have closed since 1991.
And a minute ago you said even the rising generation, and this is a poll that says only 7% of millennials support the democrats’ pro-abortion platform that they have only 7%, 70% oppose it. Those are massive numbers that just illustrates Tim, as you were saying that I was just seeing these headlines pop ups as I’m thumb through the stack. I mean, there’s a lot of good prolife stuff this year.
The Democrats Did Not Like Them
Tim Barton:
It really is and again, I mean, it seems there’s so much of this happening and the reason we have good news Fridays because so much this doesn’t get covered throughout the week or on national news, and it’s just things that people don’t know but we are seeing so many victories.
Again, I don’t know that we’ve had many weeks again, it’s Friday, where there have not been some prolife victories that we have discussed that we’ve celebrated seeing on the state level on the national level, with polling with perspectives of rising generations.
This is an area that certainly over the last several years, we have seen the trend going this direction, but if we talked about some big theme categories throughout the year. Prolife victories continue to be a ranking category that we can look back at the year and go man, there were some major victories when it comes to the prolife movement when it comes to the perspective of the next generation, the way they view life when it comes to what states have done.
Even some of the Trump appointed officials, those judges, there was some contention on some of the judges when they were these federal appointments because of their positions on life. They were prolife and democrats didn’t like them. So, they oppose them, but they were approved in the Senate. We had good news programs talking about the judicial appointments and their prolife position.
So certainly, even though we’ve been seeing a trend in in prolife things for the last several years, this year was no exception and it didn’t seem to slow down very much, because that was a very common theme for us all throughout the year.
We Are Going To Get More Pro-Life People Elected
Rick Green: And the polling numbers that you guys shared, you know, that’s an indication that will get more good news in the coming years as well, great year in 2019 for the life issue, but because of those polling numbers, that means we’re going to get more prolife people elected if people certainly vote their values, get more prolife legislation basket, get more abortion clinics close, and save more lives to 2020 and 2021.
So very good, positive thing happening this year and in years to come. Got to take a quick break, guys. We’ll be right back with more good news, looking back in 2019, and all the great things that happened stay with us you’re listening to Wall Builders Live.
A Moment From American History
Tim Barton:
This is Tim Barton from wall builders with another moment from American history. The second amendment to the Constitution which guarantees to every individual the right to keep and bear arms has been targeted for years now by those who are determined to dismantle the individual right to self-protection.
Opponents argue that only the militia, the military and law enforcement are to have and use firearms. But those who wrote the Second Amendment strenuously disagreed, including founding father Richard Henry Lee, a signer of the Declaration, a president of the Continental Congress, and one of those who actually framed the Second Amendment, he declared to preserve Liberty.
It is essential that the whole body of the people always possess arms and be taught alike especially when young how to use them. For more information about Richard Henry Lee, and the history of the Second Amendment, go to wallbuilders.com.
Rick Green:
Welcome back to Wall Builders Live. Thanks for staying with us on this good news Friday, we’re looking back at 2019 our last goodness Friday together of 2019. And great opportunity, just review there were so many good things and of course, most people don’t get a chance to listen to the program every day or every evening, every Friday.
So, there’s a great chance for them to catch up on some of the best things that happened throughout the year. So, you guys already gave us a ton of review on the prolife things that happened in 2019. What else?
Kanye West
Tim Barton:
Alright guys, one thing that was certainly a shock for many of us when it happened this year, we were very optimistic and yet hesitant wanting to see what was going to happen. But Kanye West Yeah, it was somebody that man you know, we pray that people hear the gospel and it changes their life and it transformed them and they have biblical mentors that will help them know how to walk through and help their life be different.
When old things pass away and all things become new, and they crucify the flesh and they walk in the Spirit and right what it means to be a disciple, and it seems pretty trendy for a lot of people to say they believe in God, not many people seem to want to follow God the same way.
Kanye West has been someone that has been so surprising on his levels of commitment that we have seen this point and we praise God for anybody that converts but especially when you see someone that has a level of influence, that so many people have listened to his music and now, you know, we had times we talked about Kanye West on here and I just on my page, I have several different articles.
His Conversion Could Be A Cultural Wrecking Ball
One that Kanye West, his conversion could be a cultural wrecking ball because it’s going to shift a lot of what’s happening in the culture. And one of the articles I have on this page is Kanye West discusses porn addiction. He banned his team from premarital sex as they’re doing this tour.
Actually, there was a report that came out that he was joining up with Joel Osteen and they’re going to do a big Crusade in the Yankee Stadium this next year, that means so many things that if you know the start of this year, if we just said what are things we expect to see, this would not have been anywhere on anybody’s radar of expectations.
And yet, what we are seeing from it is a cultural shifting thing where someone that was that notable that was that Prime in the secular arena has that dramatic of a conversion and is now challenging people to live their life differently. And he’s even seeing the fruit in his own life, from what he’s doing different and encouraging people just because of what he sees in his own life, hey, you want to do this too?
It is something that is a major theme Good news did not see it coming but that’s something looking back. One of the things that was certainly notable would be Kanye West and his conversion and what that has done throughout Christianity throughout America.
Justin Bierber Returning To Celibacy
David Barton:
Well, moving in that pop culture vein, I was just thumbing through here and I saw that we covered her This year about Justin Bieber, that Justin Bieber said hey, I’m getting married and I’m returning to celibacy and I’ll be celibate for the year leading up to marriage and it’s like who saw that coming right and now Kardashian appears to be having a real turnaround. I mean, who would have thought any of this [cross-talking 12:17].
Tim Barton:
Well and you write so many icons that Notable Names and yeah so Justin Bieber there’s a lot of videos of him leading worship songs at his concerts and right said that he wasn’t going to have sex with his fiancé until they’re married, which certainly was a change in his lifestyle, similar right to Kanye and says he’s given up porn, how destructive porn is just things that looking back at the year, the way that we talked about the prolife movement, how this is a big theme, a cultural shift we’re seeing and rising generations.
It is apparent and we’ve talked about it before how Dad you’ve mentioned you think we could be going along the lines of a third great awakening in America part of it because the rising generations part of their convictions part of their prolife movement, their prolife ideology, but just kind of across the board, we’re seeing positive things that indicates that God is doing something in the nation.
God Is Doing Something In The Culture
God is doing something in the culture, not the least of which is when you see some of these notable icons, these pop stars, right, these rap stars, whatever it is that God is doing something in their life, and their conversion is now a reflection of so many that follow them. Some really interesting I mean, again, think we never would have thought the beginning of the year, this was the direction that year was going but very impressive and notable things were some of those dramatic conversions throughout the year.
Rick Green:
It is going to change a lot of lives in a positive way. Yeah, and the left probably sees it as a wrecking ball. We see it as a very, very positive thing, of course, and just exciting to see really, really cool thing in 2019 a quick break, guys, we’ll be right back.
We’ve got more good news. We’re looking at a review of 2019 on this final Friday of the year, so stay with us, you’re listening to Wall Builder Live.
America’s Hidden History
David Barton:
Hi, this is David Barton.
Tim Barton:
And this is Tim Barton and we want to let you know about a series that’s happening right now on TBN on Thursday nights. Now TBN is the Trinity Broadcasting Network. Every Thursday night, there’s a series that we filmed called America’s hidden history and this season is called America’s hidden heroes. The reason is we highlight heroes from American history.
For years, we’ve been focusing on the forgotten history and heroes of the nation and now we have a TV show, just highlighting some of those heroes.
David Barton:
These are inspiring stories about some of the greatest people maybe you’ve never heard about. We go on location, we go to the site, we show you where the events happened. And it’s the story of folks like Bronco Charlie and stagecoach, Mary and Jedediah Smith and Robert Smalls and so many inspiring folks.
Tim Barton:
Now this happens every Thursday night and the time is going to be different based on where you live. Either way we think this is something that will so encouraged inspire you and learning some of these great stories for America’s Hidden History.
Trump’s 100 Judicial Nominees
Rick Green:
We’re back on Wall Builders Live. It’s good news Friday, and it’s the last one of the years. So, we’re doing some a little different. We’re looking back at 2019. And some of the best stories of 2019 can’t possibly cover them all. But there was so much good news and
David, Tim, yeah, you know, thank you for the research that you do, to pull out so much good news from across the country that most people just don’t get to hear. And so, we’ve had a lot of that this year and we’re just doing a quick review of some of the top headlines, and top stories that we shared. What’s the next one?
David Barton:
Well, the next one I have, this is a story we covered back in May. So, let’s back up months and months and months, and let’s celebrate Trump’s 100 judicial nominee is confirmed to the court. And that’s in May.
Tim Barton:
I feel like almost every Friday, there was a good news article in our stack even we didn’t get to it. There was a good news article in our stack about the new judges that were added that week. And then the following week, and then the following, so backup, and maybe there was 100 because I feel like I know where you”re going right? We’re not 100 anymore.
David Barton:
We’re at 172 as of now at the end of the year.
Tim Barton:
And these are federal judges.
He’s Appointed More Federal Circuit Court Of Appeal Judges Than Obama
David Barton:
Federal judges, and he now has, in three years, he’s appointed more Federal Circuit Court of Appeals judges than Obama did in seven years. So, it’s been a massive turnaround with judicial confirmations.
There’s been of the 12 federal circuit courts that are out there. Three of them have now shifted to more conservative, and that now means seven of the 12 are conservative, some more than half the nation’s courts have moved in that direction. It is just a seismic shift that has been done in judges. And we’ve talked in various programs across the year that we just keep being amazed because it’s not like there’s really any bad ones that are coming out.
Now. I did find an article from earlier in the year where we were looking at a nominee Trump and made to the ninth Federal Circuit Court appeals who said that this is not a good one at all.
This is as bad one and now we’ve heard in the last several weeks of that one has been pulled down. So, he’s not even going to be voted on. Trump did not reauthorize him or re-nominated him and so that’s a massive shift.
So, I mean, we’re still getting a lot of good news on judges, even at this point in the year. And I saw looking back that, you know, we won the Supreme Court decision on the Bladensburg cross, which is I use that term seismic minute ago but that’s another seismic shift and religious liberty.
Foundation to Freedom Thursday Programs
Tim Barton: Well, and one of the things that we have emphasized in the show, especially in our Foundation to Freedom Thursday programs, is the role that judges play in America now has become dramatically more significant than what the founding fathers intended.
Where if you go back to the federalist papers that where it was explained that the judicial is the weakest of all systems, it can never be a threat to anybody’s liberties. Today, you would have to kind of acknowledge judicial is actually, arguably the most powerful of the three branches, where they seem to be the ones creating law, they’re the ones dictating what is permissible, what’s not permissible.
And so, to have Joe judges who are being appointed who recognize an animal rights who recognize the right to life who recognize the constitution and recognize limited government.
It Is A Seismic Shift
This is huge, because it allows the judicial branch of government to become much more of what it was supposed to be. And the fact that we now have a president that’s able to appoint to so many of these benches also means that we won’t get the same kind of rulings that attack religious liberty, that attack the second amendment, that attack private property, that attacked the First Amendment.
I mean dad you said it a couple times where there’s a seismic shift, but this is a future forever changing kind of appointment, that God’s allowed us to have a president who has great counsel around him when it comes to appointing a lot of these judges. And we actually personally know that the people that are the ones suggesting some of these pics to President Trump. It really is remarkable that we’re in a place that there are so many good people who are now being put in positions of significant power and cultural impact in our nation.
Rick Green:
That’s a lasting impact too, because these judges are going to be there for quite some time. So again, 2019 good news, things that are going to carry over for years to come. Stay with us folks will be right back on WallBuilders Live.
It’s good news Friday, the final Friday of 2019. Hey, Brunswick, green here from wall builders live.

Rick:
We’re back on WallBuilders Live. Good news Friday today, the last one of 2019. Thanks for joining us and being a part of it. Also, if you missed some good news Friday’s this year, this is your chance to catch up because we’re reviewing 2019 and some of the big headlines from the year guys, one more segment of good news left in the year. What are we going to talk?
Unemployment Dropping And Growth In The Economy
Tim Barton:
Okay, this is actually I think, the toughest segment because we have hundreds of good news examples that we use throughout the year rapid fire. We have a couple minutes. Yeah, we have a couple minutes left to get through them. It’s not really fair.
But things that I feel like we’d be remiss not to acknowledge. Looking back over the year certainly the economy is something that nobody saw it going to levels, it’s gone to unemployment dropping, we’ve had several articles covering what the economy is done, the growth in the economy, the growth in manufacturing jobs, how it’s been the best for minorities, and especially unemployment numbers, historic lows across the board.
Protecting Religious Freedom
But in the midst of the economy, it doesn’t just impact things economically. There’s other things President Trump has done that have significant impact as well, where President Trump has done things, protecting religious freedom.
Actually, one of the places that he gave a speech about the need to protect religious freedom was the United Nations, which certainly that’s a place that I would like to see us maybe hold him and check a little bit more with some of the ridiculous things that we’ve seen happen internationally.
Some of the attacks on religious freedom having a president says Nope, we’re standing up for religious freedom and not just in America, we’re doing this now across the nation. We’ve seen President Trump do things to protect groups on college campuses.
Church Pays For Couples Wedding
One of the things I remember when we covered this on good news Friday, it was one of my favorite headlines to cover was a church that was challenging all the people in their church who are cohabitating who are not yet married, that you either need to get married. You to break up because those are the only two biblical options, right? You don’t need to keep living together and sleeping together. And they said, but if you want to get married, we’re going to do a couple of months counseling for you.
We’re going to help you know how marriage works, what should look like, and then we’re going to pay for everything. We’re going to pay for the dresses for the tuxes for the rings for the cake, right, the whole thing, we’re paying for it all. If you will follow through and actually do it.
The Bible says we’re right where sex is for the marriage bed. And so we want you to get married and don’t keep living together and then they had roughly I think, 37 couples signed up, ended up having 24 couples that followed through after all the counseling ended up getting married but we look at a lot of times the problems in the culture and the church doesn’t always do and this church kind of big picture as a whole.
The church doesn’t always do a good job of bringing solutions to problems and this was one example that I thought this was a beautiful solution to something that the culture says is permissible, the Bible says that’s not the way you should do it but the church at this point not only was encouraging people to do the right thing, they were there to equip them to help walk alongside and support them and even financially support and provide for them to do the right thing. There are so many more things on the list that I know you had a couple more you want to mention too
President Trump Moving The American Embassy In Israel
David Barton:
Well, even at international level, because when you look at what Trump has done with Israel, that recently.
Tim Barton:
Oh, moving the Embassy it was a big deal.
David Barton:
Moving the Embassy was a big deal, recognizing the Golan Heights as part of Israeli land, recognizing Judea and Samaria has been within Israel and not contested land. I mean, just the stuff that he’s done with Israel has been phenomenal.
Political Shifts Around The World
But then just looking at headlines with the elections, I mean, the shift that happened to the massive political shift that happened in England and their elections, the same thing that happened in Poland, the same thing to happen Australia, they’re moving much more conservative, much more God-fearing.
Tim Barton:
And I would say maybe they might not be moving a lot more conservative, but they recognize they don’t want to go more secular, more social in the sense of socialism. They recognize socialism is bad, has been destructive and hasn’t worked. And this is where sometimes it seems like you only have one or two options, and sometimes they’re both extreme.
And I don’t know that necessarily just because you reject socialism means you embrace conservatism but at least you’re smart enough to know that socialism is bad. And Rick as you teach young people to say socialism is bad. [Cross-talking Very, very bad 25:15].
David Barton:
I’m looking here at here’s an article where 2 million people marched for life and Argentina. Romania is moving its embassy to Jerusalem. The President of Brazil says we are God-fearing men and Brazil. I mean, just good news from all over the place, not just America but even as we reach out to other nations great news there.
Tim Barton:
Yeah, hundreds more examples we didn’t get to, but so much good stuff, certainly the end of the year looking back, there’s a lot we can be grateful for a lot. We can thank God for His blessings, His provision, his hand, his moving, maybe this awakening that we’re seeing manifested in America, so many good things we’ve seen this last year.
