The Ark Encounter, Reclaiming The Rainbow For God With Ken Ham: The true meaning of the rainbow has been stripped away. When you think about it, the rainbow flag has been used by the LGBT movement since 1978, that’s thirty-nine years. Whereas the rainbow was given meaning by God for us as a reminder 4,300 years ago. After the Flood, God designated the rainbow as the sign of His covenant to never again destroy the whole earth with water. It’s time to reclaim its true purpose, to glorify God.

Later in the program, we’ve got Ken Ham with us from Creation Museum, Answers in Genesis, The Ark Encounter, and all kinds of great things they’re doing there, it”€™s phenomenal. In fact, we’re going to talk about what Ken’s doing to reclaim the rainbow.

A High Tech Christian Museum

David, Tim, a lot of times people maybe don’t hear the other side of the creation argument if they’re raised in public schools. They’re only taught evolution and Ken Ham has done a phenomenal job of bringing that back to life and teaching it in a really entertaining way. It’s not, if you’ve ever been to the Creation Museum, or you’ve seen some of their videos, they do a phenomenal job of doing this well and not in a boring way at all.

David:

They do it, high class, high quality, and with a lot of, if you will, apologetics. And that’s the thing about Ken, Ken had Answers in Genesis, and then he built the Creation Museum which is really high tech stuff, with the dinosaurs and the displays they have there. The science was there and the evidence was there.

And then he built the Ark Experience, Noah’s ark, an exact size as the Bible lays it out. “€œWhat’s that got to do with creation?”€ Well, anytime you prove the Bible to be accurate, you’re proving all the Bible to be accurate. So by proving that, yes, there could have been an ark like this, look how big it was, and yes it could have held all the animals.

Now the creation story is a lot more plausible, “€œI didn’t think that the ark could be real, I thought that was just a fantasy story but now I see it. Wow, it’s possible.”€ What he’s done is he”€™s really laid out the academic side of the apologetics for what the Bible actually teaches.

It really is important to be able to know that these aren’t myths and stories and that people actually can be swallowed by a great fish. That happened even a few years ago, a guy in Indonesia who was swallowed by fish kind of like Jonah was. So all this stuff that comes out and says, “€œThese aren’t just fictional kind of mythical mystical stories. They’re real.”€

That’s what Ken has been so good about doing over the years. We really appreciate what he’s done there in southern Cincinnati and northern Kentucky, it”€™s such high quality and such a high-class operation. It kind of feels like the animatronics at Disney with the Hall of Presidents, you should see the dinosaurs and others, it’s that kind of quality. It’s really good.

Rick:

It is. And it actually does answer the questions. Answers in Genesis is the name of their organization, but literally, when you walk through the ark or you go through the Creation Museum they tackle the tough questions that sometimes we’ve glossed over in Sunday school class because we didn’t know how to answer them.

So they really dive into those details, the science and the apologetics. Like you were saying, to equip Christians to be able to, first of all, to know the truth themselves and be certain in it but then also to be able to share it.

College Kid Didn”€™t Know Who Noah Was

David:

It’s interesting too that proving the Bible to be true, what he’s doing now is by taking the Biblical positions, particularly with the new thing he’s doing now with this display on the side of the ark, he’s really making the LGBTQ community really ticked at him.

Which I gotta say, that’s not hard to do if you’re a Christian and believe the Bible, they’re going to ticked at you because you don’t believe what they believe. So that’s all right, they tend to be very intolerant, so that’s not unexpected. But part of their rhetoric and reasoning for why they’re ticked at him is really kind of humorous and funny.

The LGBTQ community has that rainbow flag. Well, where did the rainbow come from? The rainbow, first mention of it, is in the Bible, it was after Noah got off and God said, “€œI’m going put this rainbow in the heavens as a sign of my covenant that I’m not going to do this again to the earth. And here’s my pledge. Whenever you see this there may be a lot of rain but there will always be a rainbow at and that’s my promise, I’m not going to flood the world like I did then.”€

So that’s been the symbol of God’s covenant of his love for man. And they’ve taken it and made it a symbol of a lifestyle that God condemns and that the Bible clearly says is wrong. He said, “€œWhy do we let them steal from the Bible what belongs to the Bible? Why don’t we take it back?”€ So on the side of the ark, he actually is displaying the rainbow because that’s where we first see the use of it in the Bible is with the ark.

That’s really ticking off the other side, “€œHow dare you take the rainbow away from the LGBTQ community.”€ No, actually we’re taking it back to the ark which is where it started from in the first place. It’s really kind of humorous the way this thing is playing out. Which says a lot about the lack of Biblical literacy on the part of so many Americans today. They think that’s an LGBTQ symbol when it’s really a Bible symbol, but they just don’t know the Bible.

I was talking to one of my good friends who runs a company, he”€™s got about 250 employees in it and he’s doing a little discipleship with one of the employees now who’s not anti-religious, but that employ lived his whole life in America, gone to school here, graduated out of one of the elite universities, and  had never heard of Noah.

He did not know who that was. Did not know who Adam and Eve was. Had never heard mention of Moses. I mean, the great figures of the Bible, he did not even know them historically, critically, anti, or proton, he didn’t know any of them.

So my friend is having to go through and just tell him, “€œHere are these really big people out of the Bible and here’s what they represent.”€ We’re kind of at a point in our culture now where the Biblical literacy is so high that people probably do think the rainbow came with the LGBTQ community and not the Bible. But Ken is reclaiming it back to where it should be.

It”€™s Time To Take The Rainbow Back

Rick:

Welcome back, thanks for staying with us here on WallBuilders Live. Our friend Ken Ham is with us from Answers in Genesis. Ken, always good to have you, sir.

Ken:

Hi, it’s great to be with you again.

Rick:

Our family had just a phenomenal time at the Creation Museum and The Ark this summer. Just amazing, amazing, and since then you have lit up the ark with the rainbow, taking it back. Tell us about this decision.

Ken:

When you read Genesis Chapter 9 after the flood that Rainbow was to be a sign between God, the animals, and man, that he would never again send another global flood. It was to be a reminder to us. Yet today we see that the rainbow flag is used by the LGBT movement, it”€™s very much associated with that particular movement. Although, they only have six colors on their flag.

What we need to do, just like we did here at the Creation Museum, we said, “€œLook, we’re taking dinosaurs back.”€ Because dinosaurs are so equated with evolution. We’re going to take that back in the sense that we’re going to show people that it’s God’s word that explains dinosaurs from a creationist perspective. Then we also said that we need to take the creation back from the evolutionists. And so it goes on. Well, it’s time to take the Rainbow back.

We decided that because Noah’s Ark, the flood, is associated with the rainbow in the Bible that we really need to make a stand on this. And if Christians don’t take a stand on these things they can really lose the meaning that they’ve had and be seen to be weak in these areas.

When you think about it, the rainbow flag has been used by the LGBT movement since 1978, so that’s thirty-nine years. Whereas the rainbow was given meaning by God for us as a reminder 4,300 years ago. So I think Christians win in in regard to the use of the rainbow.

LGBT Community Outraged Over The Rainbow Ark

Rick:

Yeah, a little lopsided on the number of years there. I think we definitely have the advantage. I”€™ve got to tell you, bro, I am amazed, you’ve done more I think than probably any one individual, in my lifetime anyway, of bringing the truth back with regard to creation and with regard to the Biblical account. How and when and where we came from and all these things.

Do you ever sleep? You”€™ve  done the Creation Museum, The Ark, you’re involved in all these different things, and you’re still looking at the culture as a whole and saying, “€œHey, we’ve got to be on the offensive, not on the defensive, and not giving up this ground, and giving up God’s gifts to us, to people that are twisting them into things they don’t mean.”€ I’m just amazed at how many different battles you’re willing to take on and be good at them. So I’m saying kudos, bro, thank you, thank you for taking this on.

Most people would have said, “€œNo, I don’t want to pick that fight because I don’t want all the hatred that will come at us as a result of that.”€ How did that play into your discussions as an organization?

Ken:

First of all, it’s very interesting, when we actually lit up the Ark with the rainbow- every night now we permanently have the Ark lit as a rainbow, it’s absolutely stunning. But when I put pictures of that on my Twitter and Facebook, I tell you what, the LGBT movement and their supporters went absolutely nuts.

My Twitter actually blew up as I go on there, oh they just hate it when Christians take a stand on things like this. The devil often tries to counterfeit what God has done. I believe this whole rainbow was another one of those counterfeit attempts.

Wherever you stand on the Devil’s toes he reacts, and some people say, “€œYou must be kicking him in the shins the way he’s reacting.”€

We Are To Do Business Until He Comes

But you know, look in scriptures. Jesus talks about the parable of the talents when the man gave to the servants resources to invest. And he said, “€œDo business until I come.”€ He went away and he said, “€œI’m going to return.”€

Of course, it’s really a parable about the fact that God has given us resources, given us talents and gifts and he expects us to use those to do business till he comes. And there are many people that I find that, look and say, “€œLook, we’re getting depressed when you see how the culture is going, the hatred you get when you stand up for the truth these days, and so we just need to pray that Jesus will come back again.”€

I sort of don’t want to really do anything that will cause problems, they say, “€œWe just need Jesus to come back again quickly.”€ And I say to them, “€œLook, we don’t know whether he’ll come back in 10 years, a thousand years, 500 years, or maybe tomorrow. We know that it could be any time. But the point is he said to do business till I come.”€

We are to do the business of the king which means standing on his word, proclaiming the gospel, contending for the faith, and making disciples, and giving reasons for what we believe. So we shouldn’t stand back. We should be active out there doing it.

God’s going to one day look at what we have done for him. He’s entrusted us with talents with gifts whether that be teaching or whatever it is, we need to do the best we can to use them until he comes.

Ark Encounter

Rick:

Amen, occupy until returns. ArkEncounter.com, you also have the CreationMuseum.org, and AnswersInGenesis.org. A wealth of material there and information. I”€™ll tell you, folks, it’s just incredible. We’ve got a mini episode of Chasing American Legends that we shot there with Ken a month or so ago. It”€™s going to come out next month.

I just can’t say enough positive things, it was a great experience for our family. It really answered a lot of questions, I know this name of your organization Answers in Genesis, but it”€™s true, it just answered a lot of questions that we all had and just cemented so many things that needed to be cemented in our faith and in what we know about God and his and his goodness.

Thank you man, I appreciate it and thank you for doing this. Thank you for taking a stand for truth and reclaiming the gifts of God.

Ken:

Thank you, we will continue to do what we”€™re doing.

Rick:

That”€™s Ken Ham with Answers in Genesis. Stay with us, we’ll be right back with David and Tim Barton.

Being On The Offence

Rick:

Thanks for staying with us here on WallBuilders Live. We’re back with David and Tim Barton now. Thanks to Ken Ham for joining us. We have Web sites for Answers in Genesis, and the Creation Museum, and the Ark Encounter, all three at our Web site WallBuildersLive.com today.

David, Tim, if we only had this kind of offensive minded attitude in every area of the culture it would be great. But I’m so glad he’s reclaiming the rainbow.

David:

Well, it’s fun that he’s gone on the offensive, it really is a significant thing. There are two things he said that really related to this, or at least to me. He said, “€œThey hate it when Christians take a stand.”€ And that’s true, a lot of people don’t like controversy and so they don’t want to take a stand. But if you take a stand, the way the culture is right now, as polarized as it is, as secular as it is in many places, if you take a stand they will hate it. He’s taken a stand and they do hate it, and they are making a lot of noise, and trying to do what they can to stop that, and whatever.

But if you take a stand, the way the culture is right now, as polarized as it is, as secular as it is in many places, if you take a stand they will hate it. He’s taken a stand and they do hate it, and they are making a lot of noise, and trying to do what they can to stop that, and whatever.

But the other thing that stood out was he said, “€œChristians get really depressed when they see how the culture is going.”€ And that’s true. Christians may get depressed faster than anybody I know of and what they do they pick up their ball and go home and say, “€œJesus is coming back.”€ And they sit on the couch and wait for Jesus to come back.

Jesus is going to come back, the Bible teaches that – no question, but a lot of times that’s the refuge of depression. You go there when you feel like things are out of your control, that you can’t do anything. I was reminded of First Samuel 30.

In first Samuel 30, David had his guys and they were out fighting the bad guys and while they were gone fighting the bad guys, Ziklag was his refuge city. The enemy came in and stole every single thing they had. They took all their wives, all their children captive, hauled them off, took all their possessions, belongings, and they took the spoil of all of David’s men.

So and David and his guys get back they turn on David. David lost everything, too. They all lost everything. While they were out fighting the enemy this raid came and they’ve lost everything. Now everybody’s mad at David. So it’s really easy to be depressed, “€œWhat did I do? I’ve been out leading you guys, we’ve been winning, and they took my stuff like they took yours, why are you mad at me?”€

So it’s really easy to be depressed, “€œWhat did I do? I’ve been out leading you guys, we’ve been winning, and they took my stuff like they took yours.  Why are you mad at me?”€

I love where 1 Samuel thirty-six says, it says that everyone turned against David. So it says that David encouraged himself. And it’s like nobody else is going to encourage him,  matter of fact, everybody else is attacking you. That’s alright, I”€™ll courage myself.

What he did, as a result, was he got all the guys together and they went and attacked the raiders that took everything from them. They went on the offensive and they got everything back. But too often when we get depressed or we get discouraged we don’t go on the attack.

I love what Ken has done here when you go on the attack that’s when you start seeing things turn. It’s not when you sit back and say, “€œWoah was me, I can’t believe the culture has gone this far. Who did they think they are?”€ None of that stuff. That mentality of, “€œIt’s discouraging times in the culture, so let’s go on the attack.”€ That’s the right attitude, that’s the right thing to do.

None of that stuff. That mentality of, “€œIt’s discouraging times in the culture, so let’s go on the attack.”€ That’s the right attitude, that’s the right thing to do.

I was reminded even of World War II, famous Field-Marshal, if you will. His name was Ferdinand Foch. Foch was part of the French 9th Army. In World War One, France, like so many other times in history doesn’t fight very well, doesn’t have a good military because they don’t have many good leaders.

So in the middle of what was called The First Battle of the Marne, the entire French army was in retreat. They are running from the enemy as fast as they can. At that point, the French leadership said, “€œHey, Ferdinand you’re in charge of the entire military now. They’re all retreating. Do what you want to.”€

So was the situation he was given which could be very discouraging. And this is the message he sent out. He’s looking at everybody in retreat, he said, “€œWell, my center is giving way, my right is in retreat, it’s impossible to maneuver. The situation is excellent, I shall attack.”€And he did, he attacked and the Germans retreated and he became a great hero.

Rick:

It was a target rich environment.

David:

That’s the David mentality. And that’s what Ken’s got and that’s what every one of us needs to do.

God Given Rights

Rick:

Good stuff. Tim, you know how important it is to battle this evolution thing with young people because it’s at the heart of not believing there’s a God, and it’s hard to come back to these principles of liberty. You guys teach that really well at High Point, we try to touch on it at Patriot Academy, but when Ken does this it draws attention to the debate. It’s not just a rainbow issue, he’s now drawing attention to the whole debate between evolution and creation.

Tim:

It really does a good job of helping kind of paint the narrative of where you want it to go. This is really a God issue and the Rainbow does help take it back to the conversation. Now, there’s a lot of high emotions and there’s a lot of frustration.

Ironically, and as Ken has mentioned, he’s gotten a lot of rather intolerant tweets and post on social media from the really “€œtolerant”€ side of the aisle. They don’t seem to be very happy about this. But it does help bring the narrative back to what really matters. One of the things that we tell the kids in the summer when we do our leadership training is if you have a libertarian position and you think, “€œI believe the government is there to protect our rights but we don’t need God.”€ You know the question you ought to ask is if there is no God where do your rights come from?

One of the things that we tell the kids in the summer when we do our leadership training is if you have a libertarian position and you think, “€œI believe the government is there to protect our rights but we don’t need God.”€ You know the question you ought to ask is if there is no God where do your rights come from?

You can never have a secular government if you believe that you have individual rights because if you believe in individual rights they are either God given rights or they are government given rights. Those are the only two options.

You can’t have a secular government and still imagine that you’re going to have individual rights. But it brings you back to this God consciousness and God concept which is what Ken is doing with the Rainbow saying, “€œWait a second, let’s really get back to this.”€

It just happens to be very controversial because of the LGBT and whatever other alphabet letters you want to add to the end of that are taking the position of the rainbow. But really the narrative ought to be going back to, “€œWhere did the rainbow come from? Where did it originate?”€ Which what Ken is saying, obviously, the thousands of years we have on them really kind of helps settle the deal of who actually gets the rainbow.

Rick:

Quick break, we’ll be right back. Stay with us, you’re listening to WallBuildersLive.

Biographical Sketches

Hi, friends! This is Tim Barton of WallBuilders. This is a time when most Americans don’t know much about American history or even heroes of the faith. I know, oftentimes as parents, we”€™re trying to find good content for our kids to read.

If you remember back in the Bible, the Book of Hebrews it has the Faith Hall of Fame, where they outlined the leaders of faith that had gone before them. Well, this is something that as Americans we really want to go back and outline some of these heroes not just of American history, but heroes of Christianity and our faith as well.

I wanted to let you know about some biographical sketches we have available on our website. One is called, “€œThe Courageous Leaders Collection“€ and this collection includes people like Abigail Adams, Abraham Lincoln, Francis Scott Key, George Washington Carver, Susanna Wesley, even the Wright brothers.

There’s a second collection called, “€œHeroes of History“€ in this collection you read about people like Benjamin Franklin, Christopher Columbus, Daniel Boone, George Washington, Harriet Tubman, the list goes on and on.

This is a great collection for your young person to have and read. And it’s a providential view of American and Christian history. This is available at WallBuilders.com.

Use Your Voice And Take A Stand

Rick:

Welcome back to WallBuilders Live, thank”€™s for staying with us. Thanks again to Ken Ham for being on earlier in the program. And Tim, you were exactly right about this being the debate.

It’s a question of, “€œDoes God exist?”€ Reclaiming the rainbow is a big part of that. I mean, let’s get some truth on where that actually comes from and what it actually means.

David:

I think a lot of people already believe the truth. We’ve talked in previous programs based on polling that it is conservatives and Christians that are the most silent. Even though they know what they believe it’s liberals and moderates that are always out there spouting their mouth off on what they think whether it’s true or not. It’s conservative folks and Bible folks that tend to be the most silent on this and they really should be the most aggressive on it.

Most folks, 86 percent of the nation polling shows still believe that God made the heaven on the earth. So half of that 86 percent thinks that God did it in six days, others think that God did it through a longer process but he guided the process. But 86 percent of the nation thinks that God was involved in making the heavens and the earth.

So we believe that. But you would never know that by listening to the rhetoric out there you get drowned out by the other side.

That’s where you have to be offensive. You have to go on the offensive. I was thinking about this even with Job, as Job had done all his rhetoric and he was defending his positions and finally God shows up in Job chapter 39 and said, “€œYou guys don’t have a clue what you’re talking about.”€

As he goes through and talks about what he’s created, and what he’s made, and the attitudes in what he’s made, I was reminded of the war horse. In Job thirty-nine verses 19 to 25. God says to look at the War Horse. And remember, a war horse is a horse that is used in battle.

This is what he asked Job, he said, “€œYou think you have all the answers but do you give the horse’s strength? Do you clothe its neck with a flowing mane? Do you make it leap like a locust striking terror with its proud snorting?”€

Listen what he says here, “€œIt paws fiercely rejoicing in his strength and it charges into the fray. It laughs at fear, afraid of nothing. It does not shy away from the sword. The quiver rattles against his side along with a flashing spear and lance. In frenzied excitement it eats up the ground, it cannot stand still when the trumpet sounds. At the blast of the trumpet, it snorts, “€˜Ah-Ha.”€™ It catches the scent of battle from afar.

He talks about how. “€œI made this that when it hears the sound of battle he goes charging into it. He can smell a good fight when it”€™s way off and it goes charging right at it.”€

Stay In The Fight

And that’s really kind of the attitude Ken has here, “€œI’m going right at the middle of these guys and they don’t like it and yeah it’s a battle.”€ As he said, his Twitter blew up and it’s just way over the top. But that’s the kind of battle you want. And so first to avoid that is not the God thing. God created things to go into battle and to laugh at fear and the snort and say, “€œI love a good fight.”€

As Proverbs 21:22 says, “€œA wise man attacks the city of the mighty.”€ A smart guy goes on the offensive against the strong guys on the other side. So that’s really the attitude I love here that Ken has displayed. That’s a good one for every one of us to emulate.

Quit being silent, quit being a coward, so to speak, about your faith. Put it out there, be bold, be like that warhorse. When you see a conflict come, be the first one to be there and be in the middle of it.

Thanks For Listening About The Ark And Being On The Offensive
