Faith and the Culture
Rick:
This is the intersection of faith and the culture. Thanks for listening to WallBuilders Live, we talked about the hot topics of the day on policy, faith, the culture, the elections, you name it, we’re looking at it from a biblical, historical, and constitutional perspective. We are glad you’re with us today.
Be sure to check out our websites, wallbuilderslive.com and wallbuilders.com. At either of those websites, you can make your one time or monthly contribution. That’s a great way to come alongside us. The founders gave lives, fortunes, and sacred honor, yeah, that means it takes money to win cultural battles.
And we’re asking you to contribute so that we can speak truth to the culture, we got to seek truth, then we got to speak that truth and we got to stand for that truth. And when you come alongside us here at WallBuilders Live, you’re helping to expand that voice, helping us to reach more people in the culture. And we greatly appreciate you being part of that.
My name is Rick Green, I’m a former Texas legislator and America’s constitution coach. And I’m normally here with David Barton, America’s premier historian and our founder at WallBuilders and Tim Barton, national speaker and pastor and president of WallBuilders. But today, we’re going to do something a little different. We’ve been sort of sprinkling this into the programs over the last week or so after we went to Georgia.
If you’re a first time listener or missed the last couple of weeks, we had a great time, barnstorming across Georgia, getting believers to be biblical citizens, not just to say I’m a Christian, but to be a biblical Christian, actually follow God’s word, actually follow the Great Commission, which is to make disciples of all nations, to teach them, to obey all his commands.
And part of that is how we form our neighborhoods, our communities, our state in our nation, and how we govern ourselves, what kind of leaders that we choose. So we had a great time traveling across Georgia.
Barnstorming Georgia!
It was David Barton, Tim Barton, myself, my former Congresswoman Michele Bachmann, Congressman Jody Hice, Congressman Barry Loudermilk, Kirk Cameron, Charlie Kirk, it was just a lot of great folks joining us to be a part of this effort to get believers in this case, currently, at this time, in Georgia, to be good biblical citizens, but also challenging citizens all over America to do the exact same thing. And that’s why we’re sharing with you here on WallBuilders live the recordings from one of our barnstorming Georgia events.
And so we’ve been doing that a little piece at a time. We give you election news, catch you up on some of the battles that are happening, that the legal battles, the electoral battles, all these different things across the country, as the presidency still hangs in the balance. It has not been decided yet, even though the Electoral College met on Monday. There is precedent and historical examples of where a, for instance, in Hawaii and in 1960, the Electoral College votes were initially sent for the Republican candidate, Richard Nixon, there was a recount.
And then, later in December, they sent electoral votes for John Kennedy, and they ultimately were counted for John Kennedy, even though that was done later in the month. I say that just so that you know that this is not over, there is still a battle over the electoral votes in these key states of Pennsylvania, Michigan, Wisconsin, Georgia, Arizona, Nevada, so a lot, it can still happen.
And of course, on Monday, as we know, there were multiple slates of electors sent from many of those states. And so look, folks that the real battle is it continues and will really be decided on January 6th, potentially after January 6th, depending on some of the legal battles.
So we’ve been keeping you up to date on that. And I just wanted to read you an email real quick before we jump into that barnstorming Georgia event that came from one of our listeners. This was an email from Dolores. I had said a couple of times this week, you may be getting tired of us talking about the election and all these returns. I loved her email. She said “Thank you and God bless.”
An Encouraging Word
She said “Admittedly, there may be those who are tired of hearing about the election, but I am so very grateful for your up to date, truthful coverage that helps us to persevere in prayer for election integrity, and for our country. If we only got mainstream media, we would all have given up weeks ago. Your hard work to provide truthful, biblical, and constitutional news for us is very much appreciated. May the Lord establish the work of your hands.”
Dolores, thank you, so much from David, Tim, myself, our whole WallBuilders team, that means a lot to us. Thank you very much for sending that email. And to all the rest of you, thank you for your prayers for the program. Thank you for your contributions you make there at wallbuilderslive.com and your encouragement.
And one of the most important things you could do is share the program. Actually, take the links there on our website at wallbuilderslive.com or whichever station you listen to across the country, share those with your friends and family. People are looking for truth right now, just as Dolores said, truthful coverage of what’s going on. And we are committed to bringing you that on a daily basis here.
We’re going to take a quick break. When we come back from the break, we will dive in to that barnstorming Georgia event and give you a chance to share what we thought were some amazing events and really encouraging to each of us as we listen to other speakers encouraging to talk to people before and after the event. It was just great and we hope that you will enjoy listening to some of that here on WallBuilders Live. Let’s take a quick break, we’ll be right back. You’re listening to WallBuilders Live.
The American Story
Hey, guys, we want to let you know about our new resource we have here at WallBuilders called The American Story. For years, people have been asking us to do a history book, and we finally done it. We start with Christopher Columbus and go roughly through Abraham Lincoln. And one of the things that so often we hear today are about the imperfections of America, or how so many people in America that used to be celebrated or honored really aren’t good or honorable people.
One of the things we acknowledge quickly in the book is that the entire world is full of people who are sinful and need a savior, because the Bible even tells us that “all have sinned and fallen short of the glory of God.” And yet what we see through history and certainly is evident in America is how a perfect God uses imperfect people and does great things through them.
The story of America is not the story of perfect people. But you see time and time again how God got involved in the process and use these imperfect people to do great things that impacted the entire world from America. To find out more, go to wallbuilders.com and check out The American Story.
Rick:
We’re back here on WallBuilders. Thanks for staying with us. As I said before the break, we’re going to dive into the barnstorming Georgia event, give you a chance to enjoy some of that and we’ll do more of the same tomorrow. And then this Friday, we’ll have a full update on the election. So here we are, we’re headed to Georgia. Here’s our barnstorming Georgia event.
Barnstorming Georgia With Michele Bachmann
Rick:
One of our favorite warriors on the planet is here with us tonight. And let me tell you how much of a warrior she is. Despite having broke her toe, she still got on a plane this morning, and traveled all the way to see us, Congresswoman Michele Bachmann.
Now, most people would have used that excuse to bow out and say forget it, Rick, I love to be there with you guys, but I’m going to dial in, I can’t do it. She still got on that plane and came and saw us. A great warrior when she was in Congress, a great warrior even now across the country. She and David did several television episodes Foundations of Freedom that we encourage you to watch. Michele, thanks for coming tonight to encourage us.
Michele:
Thank you. It is a thrill to be here. These are like my three favorite guys. Are they your three favorite guys? And Charlie Kirk? What a great night. Thanks so much for letting me be here. I’m from the state of Minnesota, so thank you for letting me come down to Georgia. It’s awesome to be here.
The whole country, in fact, it’s probably safe to say the whole world is looking at Georgia right now, because everyone recognizes this is it. This is the zero hour, what is going to happen in the United States? I will tell you, I am still standing in faith, trusting and believing God for a miracle that Donald Trump will have a second term as President of the United States.
And I say that, because the positive great news that I saw this year is that believers saw that this was a storm coming at us like nothing they’d ever seen before. When all of this cheat by mail nonsense started getting announced in state after state after state, like in my home state of Minnesota, where our corrupt Secretary of State on his own changed election law two days before voting started and decided you don’t have to have a notary.
Great Opportunity for Fraud
You don’t have to have a signature on your ballot, you can go ahead and get your ballot in eight days after the election is over. You don’t have to have a postmark on your ballot. Gee, that would potentially lead to fraud, would it? He did that on his own contrary to the US Constitution that says the only body that can change state election law are state legislatures.
So the judges in Pennsylvania who fooled around with all their changes, unconstitutional, they can’t do it. Governors with executive orders, they can’t change your election law. Only the state legislature can change the election law. Secretaries of State can’t change election law. So there are all the problems with all the cases where they illegally change the law.
Then you have the voter fraud where we know like in my state, again, I’ll give you we were one of the worst this year. In my home, there are two of us that live in my home now. We had 12 ballots come to my home, because you see two just isn’t enough. So they scattered them all over the place so that there would be ample opportunity. In my State, we have Ilhan Omar as the member of Congress in Minneapolis. And so of course, like so many states, there were more votes than there were people. And so that should be a clue.
So I think that from the political point of view, from the legal point of view, from the moral point of view, America is not on board with Joe Biden as the next president of the United States. We’re not there. And the reason why we’re not there is because we’re not that dumb in the United States, because we know without a shadow of a doubt, this man did not get the votes on election night. It didn’t happen. Donald Trump got the votes on election night. So why would we be like drones, chumps, and fools to go along with this? I tell you why we won’t and I’m going to stand up.
The reason why we won’t, is because this is the magnificent society. In all of world history, there has never been a nation like the United States of America. Do you know that we began out of a prayer meeting? That’s how America began. And it was people who came to Jesus Christ, not only to Jesus Christ, it was a wild revival movement that happened.
What Happened in Scrooby?
It was in Scrooby, England. And these strong believers said, we are not going to conform to the traditional church that was not a church. They were not going according to Biblical ways. And so these people who eventually became what you’ve been taught as the Pilgrims left, and went to Holland so they could practice their faith and then ultimately, they believe God called them here to this magnificent society.
And so out of a prayer meeting and out of a church plant, out of a love and desire for Jesus Christ, to bring the gospel to people that they knew were here who didn’t know the gospel, they came. They came not just as a couple of pastors, they came as families. Women, pregnant women got on the Mayflower, little children got on the Mayflower.
This was highly unusual, this didn’t happen. But these believers knew the God that they served was real. He was more real than the breath in their body, and so they were going to follow him here to set up what was going to happen in this country. They have a magnificent story, because they created the magnificent nation.
When they got here, half of them died within about three, four months from a plague. Sound familiar? They came here and half of them died of a plague. But God used them. He forged them. They were Gideon’s army, and out of this Gideon’s army that had a chance to go back and say, you know, we’re going to hang it up, we are not going to go forward. They went with the leading of the Holy Spirit, in the power of the Holy Spirit, and said, this is where we stand. Whether we all live or whether we all die, this is where God called us and this is where we stand.
We have no idea the price that was paid for what every one of us have enjoyed and taken for granted every day of our life, that price. David and Tim and Rick talk over and over of the sacrifice of the revolutionary war heroes. In fact, it was Abigail Adams and you would have to and probably she wrote in a letter to John, I believe, where she wrote in this letter saying generations yet to come will have no idea the price that was paid to purchase their freedom.
Valuable Lessons
Is that right? I got it right? Oh, John wrote it to Abigail. Okay. Well, I thought the woman wrote it, because usually we do. But I’ll bet, she said first! It’s true. It is true.
And think back to your grandparents. Think back to your great grandparents. Think back to your parents. You have stories of courage in your own family, stories of sacrifice in your own family. I know my family came from Norway just before the Civil War. My grandfather got off the boat and at 15, he signed up for the civil war. He had never been engaged in the slavery issue. But he went and gave his life and the brothers and the cousin, some of them died in the Civil War.
Some of them gave a leg, some of them gave up an arm, because this was their country now, and they were going to fight for their country that it would be unified, that it would be strong. My mother was born in 1931. When she was born, she was a seventh child. Her father was an alcoholic and worked in a butcher shop. He made $1 a day, $1 a day, and the family live on $1 a day.
And I know in my own life, when my parents got divorced when I was 14 years of age, we went to below poverty overnight. We were eligible to receive all sorts of benefits. And I’m not condemning anybody. But my mother said to me, no one in our family ever accepted it and somehow God will make a way. And God made a way.
And I started working when I was 12, and my brothers were 8, and they were 10 and they started paper routes, and God made away and we lived any open doors. And that is what he has done for people groups time after time after time.
And it brings us to tonight, here in Georgia and I look around this room, and I’m so happy to see you. I am so happy to see your faces. Because when we hear the statistics of the number of people who don’t vote, when you hear in Los Angeles, that it was less than 3% of the people who elected that useless mayor in Los Angeles, and you think how many church congregations if they would have just gotten out, not many would have changed the whole thing and flipped it?
The Mayflower Compact
Well, okay, take a look. Just think this congregation and you go out and get five more you flip it. So like, is that worth it? I would say because of the magnificent society we’ve been given. But this is even the turning point. The magnificent society that we could be about to lose.
Because I want to tell you this, when you lose a magnificent society, you don’t get it back. You don’t get it back. You see, it’s been 400 years since the Pilgrims made their prayer meeting turn into a nation. 400 years, what did they give us? We just celebrated the 400th anniversary, November 11th. The Mayflower Compact, what is that? The most magnificent government documents that has blessed the world ever since. Because when the pilgrims were blown off course.
And they came to an area where they didn’t have a charter to legally land, they were men and women of faith and they said we’ve got to have jurisdiction where we land. So they’ve wrote a document and they said we’re going to be governed under God’s principles.
This is what they said, “In the name of God. Amen.” They wrote down the principle that they would be ruled by the consent of the governed. What does that mean? They’re going to vote. They’re going to have a vote. They’re going to decide how they’re going to run their lives. That isn’t what they were doing in 1611.
It was kings. It was monarchs. It wasn’t people voting. We take this for granted and thinking all of world history, people have been able to vote for their rulers. No, no, no, no, no. This is highly unusual that you get to choose, highly unusual. And the very first vote that they took was for their military defense, and they voted for Myles Standish to be their military leader.
Also in that document, they talked about equal unjust laws. I’ll tell you, look at America today. When the clock was striking 11:59:59 on the 400th anniversary of this gift of God to the world, this idea of voting for the people and the laws that you live under that we take for granted.
Consent of the Governed
That’s exactly when Satan was snatching away from America ruled by the consent of the governed, in other words, stealing from us our right to vote. I am highly offended, insulted, angry, and I’m not going to stand for the fact that my vote was stolen.
Rick:
Amen
Michele:
I think we are better than that. We are better than that as a people. And there is no reason why we should be drones going along with everything that we are told from the central big house up in Washington DC. That’s done. We are free men, and we are free women, and hence Georgia. Hence, Georgia.
I’m going to continue and I think you’re going to continue believing, standing, praying, because we pray to a God who hears and understands. And this God, this is what a miracle looks like, you pray, you stand in faith, you believe, and God against all odds delivers, and I believe our God is going to deliver.
And in the meantime, there’s Georgia, and we need Georgia. Minnesota needs Georgia. Washington needs Georgia. Florida needs Georgia. Texas needs Georgia. This entire country needs Georgia. You’ve been given a million reasons why. But I will tell you, we need you. We need you to deliver those two senators for us.
And that’s why we are here in part. We’ve had a big message to try to deliver to you tonight. You understand the need and the problems that we have with dealing with truth the next generation, getting the church fired up to understand. But in the immediate, in the shortest of the short term, we have got to have those two Senate seats in Georgia. And that’s why the church is so important because you get truth, you get the importance of the Word of God, because that is tied to the future.
True Sacrifice
When I talked about the Pilgrims, the reason why they came was because of what little Reagan was singing about, with to stand for those who aren’t even in the womb, those who are born. You see, they look 400 years into the future and they saw you and they saw you and they saw you and they saw you. That’s what they did.
They look 400 years into the future. We can’t look 40 minutes? I see yes, we do. In this Baptist Church tonight, we’re going to cry out to the Holy God of the universe, who is not surprised about what happened, who can handle this, who can deliver and we’re going to ask him for a second term for Donald J. Trump.
Rick:
Amen. I want to apologize, I had hoped that I could find some courageous, bold, passionate speakers. This is incredible. I mean, this is incredible.
So Michele, I want to let’s all talk real quick about what they can do. Kirk Cameron’s going to be dialing in a few minutes. You talked about courage. You talked about sacrifice of the Founding Fathers. Our sacrifice is so small compared to theirs. But there are things we can be doing.
But let’s talk big picture for a second, the role of the church and the role that we have as Christians to not sit on the sidelines. A lot of people feel like and part of the reason we started with what we did, either that America story is bad, which is not by the way, get this book, The American story.
It’s a new book by David and Tim Barton has everything they were talking about tonight, and a whole lot more. But our story is great, this nation is worth saving, everything that you just said. But then sometimes people think it’s too big. I can’t do anything. How do we speak to that?
The Power of One Obedient Individual
David:
Okay, let me hit that real quick on one simple thing. As individuals, one of the best ways to get completely neutralized is to think you’re just an individual. You are just an individual, but because of that you can have more impact than you can possibly imagine. Let me give an example just as Christians.
Since the time of Christ, we’ve been trying to bring people to a knowledge of Christ, not only convert them but make disciples out of them. So over the last 2,000 years, we have put hundreds of billions of dollars into doing that. At the time of the Founding Fathers, Christian was the second largest religion below Muslims. At a time of the Founding Fathers, Muslims had the world big numbers. Today, 32% of the world professes as Christianity, 21% of the world professors Islam, then it goes to Hinduism and Buddhism.
So if you look at the fact that with hundreds of billions of dollars, trillions of dollars, in 2,000 years, we have paid professionals and they’ve done a great job, our pastors, our missionaries, our evangelist, all these guys, we’re 32%, but consider something. If every one of us as individuals just said you know what, I’m going to personally do the Great Commission.
I’m going to go find one person to disciple one person this year. So I’m going to good nothing to share but get one person. If every one of us did that at the end of this year, we would jump in 32% of the world being Christian to 64% of the world being Christian. If we did that two years in a row, the entire world would be Christian in two years, just if every one of us only took one person.
There’s Nothing New Under the Sun
Rick:
Alright, friends, we are at a time for today, you’ve been listening to our barnstorming Georgia event, where we had a lot of great speakers that traveled with us across the state. And we’re going to share more of that with you tomorrow. If you missed the first few pieces of that event, it’s a couple hours long, so we’re kind of sharing it with you as we can here on WallBuilders Live. All of it’s available at our website wallbuilderslive.com.
Just go in and listen to the archived programs there on the website. In fact, you can listen to some of the election updates we’ve been doing over the last month or so. And if you’d like to know how the constitutionality of this election plays out, I’ve also made some constitutional minute videos that are available on my Facebook page. If you go to facebook.com/PatriotRickGreen, you can get some of those videos where I go into detail of how the Electoral College plays out here, historically, what happened in 1876, in 1872, and all these scenarios.
Barnstorming Georgia – With Michele Bachmann
There’s nothing new under the sun. The things you’re going to see happen over the next few weeks and potentially months is the Constitution being played out. And many of these things have happened already in presidential elections in the past. In fact, all of the things that have happened so far, have happened in presidential elections in the past.
There could be some new precedent setting things happen after January 6th when the Congress meets to open the electoral votes. But stay tuned, we’ll find out when that happens. We sure appreciate you listening today. You’ve been listening to WallBuilders Live!
Thank you , Wallbuilders! So grateful for your books and DVD’s that I used with my kids in homeschooling! But also grateful now with the podcast and the Barnstorming tour in Georgia. I worked the recount in Atlanta at GWCC. There was so much going on there that every Georgian and American would have been shocked how loosely and dishonestly our elections are held. I know it opened my eyes and made me realize that I need to be more involved and the rules need to enforced.
Question: Does David still do tours of DC’s Capitol building? I am buying the dvd, but I would love to take my grown children on a tour with David.
Greetings! Currently, the Capitol is unfortunately closed to the public, so there are no tours scheduled for the foreseeable future! We apologize for the inconvenience.
