Rick:

Welcome to the intersection of faith and the culture. You have found the place where we look at everything from a biblical, historical, and constitutional perspective. And we’re glad you’re with us. It’s time to get an update on the election. I’m Rick Green here, with Tim Barton, national speaker and pastor, and we’ve also got David Barton with us, America’s premier historian. Guys, a lot has happened just over the weekend. We went two days without an update on the election. So let’s talk about what’s happened just in those seven or eight states that are still up for grabs.

David:

Yeah, there’s a lot that happened, but not any significant decisions that really change anything at this point. At this point, there are a lot more lawsuits have been filed, and a lot of those lawsuits have been filed by individual citizens in the various States. It’s not that the Trump team has come in necessarily and file on behalf of the Trump campaign. You’ve now got a lot of citizens filing. You see it in Wisconsin, you see it in Arizona, and you see it in all these different places, in Georgia. And I was saying that’s part of the legal strategy with Trump campaign by the way is that there’ll be some coordinated lawsuits from citizens, from elected officials, from others. So I’m assuming that this is all kind of the same direction, but it’s just not from the Trump administration.

So for example, you have a lawsuit in Georgia, where they’re very noted attorney there has sued over what has happened with the Secretary of State there. The Secretary of State before the election entered a consent agreement with Democrats agreed on how they would handle the ballots in the state, the mail-in ballots, how they’ll do with signature verification. The law requires something and the Secretary of State abolish it this way. If we’re going to signature verification, we’ll just do two signatures; the one on the ballot and the one on the requests for the ballot.

Well, they used to have three because that way, it could be the same person requesting the ballot that has the ballot and that doesn’t mean it’s the right person. It could be a ballot where someone is casting a fraudulent vote using a dead person’s name and both of the signatures would then match. So they use require three signatures to get to be something that’s not on the ballot so that we know this actually is the signature. Well, the Secretary of State said no, we do it without the way, he ended that consent agreement. So now there’s a lawsuit saying you can’t do that, you can’t change the law.

And by the way, we’re seeing a number of court cases come down, where the even we saw over the weekend in California that a California Judge told governor Gavin Newsom, hey, you can’t issue an executive order from COVID that changes the way we do elections in California. So we’ve seen that now over the last week and a half with a number of Judges. We’ve seen that with Pennsylvania and other places. So that’s a suit in Georgia. They started the recount there, but now they need to know what they’re going to do with these ballots. Because this lawsuit, if they throw out the ballots that don’t have triple verification signatures, then what they’re doing now in the recount at they’re counting ballots that may be thrown out later. So it really is kind of a complicated thing for Georgia.

Over in Wisconsin, you’ve got individual folks that filed the lawsuit to exclude 792,000 votes in three counties. So that’s going on, we’ll see where that goes. Now, Wisconsin is still saying no, we didn’t have any fraud, we counted all the votes. So you know, that’s the other side of the lawsuit as the State is defending itself.

Over in Michigan, you have State Senators calling for an audit and Michigan Judge there heard the case and said, no, I’m not going to give you an audit. And the audit would be to see if there’s fraud before you really finish the count of the election. You want to say, hey, throw out these ballots, don’t look at this, or here’s evidence of fraud so we shouldn’t be counting. And so the Judge listened to the Secretary of State defend itself and the Michigan senators are calling for an audit and said, no, we’re not going to have an audit. We’re going to keep moving forward with the lawsuit.

Over in Pennsylvania, the Trump campaign did change its lawsuit there. There were seven counts in the lawsuit, and they’ve actually reduced that by five counts down to only two counts. So the two remaining counts, it really deals with the fact that in Republican counties, they counted ballots differently than Democrat counties. In other words, in Democrat counties, they allowed a lot more mail-in ballots and had a lot lower standard for confirming those ballots than in Republican counties. So the saying well, that’s not equal protection. I mean, you’ve got the Democrat s planting more votes in than they did in Republican counties, they rejected more there. And so they really reduced it down to those two areas, that the procedures were different in Republican counties than they were in Democrat counties and that’s a real problem.

So that’s part of the news out of Pennsylvania is a change that’s happened with Trump at the courts. So there’s other States going on as well where there’s a lot more going. So that’s part of the change that they’re having in Pennsylvania right now.

Tim:

And guys, one of the things too that is interesting we’re seeing certainly, if you look on social media, President Trump is still tweeting frequently. He’s posting frequently about what’s going on, the attorneys are posting about what’s going on. And you’re seeing a lot of people getting stirred up who want to do something. They want to see a change. And with all of these lawsuits now, das even as you’re mentioning, Judges are getting involved, lawsuits are being filed, we still are in a place, it’s kind of a holding pattern. Because we won’t have answers right away, because it’s going to take some judicial action, and so it’s based on how long these trials take. It’s what gets exposed.

So guys, we might not really see an answer to this for what could be several more weeks. But in the midst of that, it probably is good to start thinking okay, well, if we’re waiting on courts, and lawsuits to come out, what should we be doing in the meantime, and this is where one of our good buddies, Patrick Colbeck is actually doing things right now to work on that end.

Rick:

Yeah, he’s got this website, Let’s Fix Stuff, and you know, it’s a great way for anybody to get involved and pay attention to some of these big issues long term. So whichever way the election goes, we’ve still got some challenges. We’ve got some things we really need to be working on. So Pat’s given us an outlet, it gets around all the social media banning and blocking and everything else and gives you a chance to really be able to listen to some experts, but also get some good action items in your own community. I’m talking about issues from healthcare to the election process itself, you name it. Letsfixstuff.com is the website. Pat Colbeck, former state senator from Michigan, he’ll be with us when we return from the break right here on WallBuilders Live.

BREAK

This is Tim Barton, from WallBuilders with another moment from American history. Many today assert that religion is something private, that it has no place in the public square and that it is incompatible with government. But the Founding Fathers believed exactly the opposite. They held that religion was absolutely necessary in order to maintain our free system of government. For example, John Adams declared “We have no government armed with power capable of contending with human passions unbridled by morality and religion.” And signer of the Declaration, Benjamin Rush, similarly affirmed, “Without religion, there can be no virtue, and without virtue there can be no liberty, and Liberty is the object and life of all republican governments.”

The Founding Fathers understood that limited government required public morality from the people, and that public morality was produced by the Christian religion.

Rick:

We’re back here on WallBuilders Live.  Thanks for staying with us. So good to have my friend Pat colbeck back with us, former state senator from Michigan and just good friend. Pat, hey, man, thanks for some time today.

Pat:

Oh, it’s such a blessing to be talking with you again, Rick. It’s really good to hear your voice.

Rick:

Well, you guys are continuing to work hard in Michigan to bring some sanity to the chaos of 2020. New website, letsfixstuff.org I love the website, by the way. Of course, I’m a Star Wars fan, I used to be till they totally destroyed it. But so I love all the Star Wars analogies too. But letsfixstuff.org, what made you decide to do this?

Pat:

Well, it comes from the understanding that I think we all realize right now we’re in a battle, and it’s a battle between those who are seeking to fundamentally transform America and those who want to preserve all its noble, true, excellent, praiseworthy. The problem is we have a tough time getting out all the information about what makes us noble, true, excellent, praiseworthy. And I said, you know what, we got to fight this battle on the information domain.

And so this LetsFixStuff was an attempt to go off and say, hey, what’s the new we can add to the equation of getting information out to people? I can leverage my engineering background that I applied when I was a Michigan State Senator, and look at all these different policies that need fixing, whether it’s coming up with a rational data driven approach to COVID-19 or ways to batten down the hatches on our election processes so that we can maintain integrity.

You know, we decided let’s go beyond just pushing up the news but tie the news to actual solutions. Because I don’t know if you’re like me, but whenever you post something on social media, and it’s something highlighting some real issues that are out there in the world, what’s the first time that you get? It’s okay, what can we do about it?

Rick:

Yeah, no, you’re so right, man.

Pat:

So I wanted to have a whole website dedicated to what can we do about it and put it in context of the news today.

Rick:

Well, but before we get to action items, I love the first line under your mission statement. “We live in an era where the dystopian worlds of George Orwell’s. 1984 are Hunger Games read more and more like nonfiction rather than fiction with each passing day?” You know, Pat, a year ago, I would have said, oh, that’s cute, but that’s not really it. Yeah, I mean, that is life right now. Every morning I feel like I’m waking up in an Orwellian society. I mean, even when you take the tweet from President Trump, just a common sense, stating facts about the fact that we’ve got to get back to life, that you got to live life and here’s the specific risks and breaking down stats, and Twitter wants to shut him down and say that’s dangerous. You know, to just speak truth to give science is now dangerous. I mean, we’re going to misinformation, we’re labeling things as misinformation that is scientific data, I mean, this is going to drive you nuts as an engineer.

Pat:

Oh, absolutely. That’s actually one of the reasons one of the sections of our letsfixup.org website is called the X file. If you identify content that’s being banned on the internet, for whatever reason, and there’s already a pretty good list going already due to political censorship, send it to us. Just sign up over there, upload your content, we’ll make sure it has a home that you can always refer people to. But this is getting ridiculous. Right now, I’m in the state of Michigan, we got Governor Whitmer, just recently, we had a fantastic ruling by the Michigan Supreme Court that finally reestablish the rule of law back here in the state of Michigan by striking down the state of emergency that our governor has been implementing for the last 194 days. And what…

Rick:

Here again, Pat, though I got to stop you, because this is clearly you were trained wrong as an engineer: your math is terrible. I mean, you’re saying that 194 is a larger number than 28. I mean, statutorily she could have gone 28 days, and you actually think 194 days is larger than 28 days, is that what you’re telling me?

Pat:

Well, back to Orwell, I don’t believe two plus two equals five either. So…

Rick:

That’s right. Oh, I’m sorry to interrupt you, but go. I mean, that’s literally what the case was all about, right, number of days that she could keep this going. And she is arguing that she’s fine in triple digits whenever the law said no, 28 days. That’s it. Oh, wow. Oh, wow.

Pat:

And she’s pushing a narrative right now, essentially, what frustrates me and this is why we get into that ministry of truth from Georgia law, is that the media is just parroting her talking points. It was a 7-0 Smackdown of the governor of Michigan and her executive orders, yet we’re being portrayed if it’s they’re highlighting the second part of the decision, which was a 4-3 Smackdown and saying that the law she based on was unconstitutional. But her very executive orders, the key thing that we’re all suffering under here, and that was a 7-0 unanimous Smackdown and that…

Rick:

Now, that’s an important distinction. Let’s let me just repeat what you just said, make sure I understand it right. So the decision had two parts. One of them, all seven Justices said her implementation of the statute is unconstitutional because she’s into hundreds of days, and it only gave her 28, and then the second half was 4-3, which is still a victory. So it’s 4-3 the Justices said the whole statute is unconstitutional because it gives legislative power to one person in the executive. That’s exactly what I’m suing the governor of Texas over, is saying you’re violating our Texas constitution and using legislative power at the executive level. So it’s a separation of powers and checks and balances problem, all of those things. But important distinction and in both cases, we won in Michigan, both of those were victories, and she still says no, I’m going to do my own thing?

Pat:

Right and the media is parroted, they’re talking point. She even had the audacity to say no, I got 21 days to go off and call them to reconsider the motion. No, no, no, no, no. It’s an immediate effectivity, that as soon as that opinion is released, it is effectively the law. And the news parroted the 21 days. So what happens is we have an effect where the “cell” door for citizens of Michigan was open, wide open, they took out the key, threw it away, yet most of Michigan is still sitting in that “cell” afraid to come out. She just came out with another ruling with her administrative agencies to go off and declare as part of public health code for same executive orders. So this is not going to end until we get out of banana republic mode and get back into constitutional republic mode.

Rick:

Yeah, that is exactly the right way to put it to. But I don’t really understand what your problem is there, brother. I mean, you know, you should just trust this woman. I mean, when she says something, she does the same thing, right? Like when she tells you don’t leave your house, don’t gather at church, she walks down the street and protests with tens of thousands of people, but that’s okay, because she’s special. And she can get her hair done even if you… I mean, the hypocrisy, Pat, I mean, why are people not just saying enough?

Pat:

They get away with it with the media?

Rick:

Yes, how are they get away with hypocrisy? Yeah.

Pat:

Because it’s information war. And frankly, as conservative, we’re not very good at the information war, we’re pretty bad. WallBuilders is one of the notable exceptions. When we’re in a battle between those who want to fundamentally transform America and those who want to preserve America, I can’t think of a better organization to highlight what is noble, true, excellent, and praiseworthy about America than WallBuilders.

So you guys have been planting seeds and the folks like me on Michigan all across the country, all across the world about what is noble, true, excellent, and praiseworthy about America and more people need to hear that message, and I’m going to do my small part with this Letsfixstuff.org website and try to get the word out. But that is an important battle that everybody who’s listening to this podcast can partake in. I mean, they need to get in that digital warrior mode and share this information with people.

Because we have a whole generation of kids now coming up, that have not been instructed in what is noble, true, true, excellent, and praiseworthy about America. They’ve been hearing the Howard Zinn narrative about everything that’s wrong with America. They’ve been hearing the 1619 project perspective on what is wrong with America and they are missing what is noble about leaders like President Washington, Jefferson, Franklin, you know, Benjamin Rush, all these figures in history, Harold Raines. I mean, there’s so many people that they don’t hear about and it’s because there is an agenda out there. And right now, we’re seeing a manifestation in ministry of truth well beyond anything, I’m sure even George Orwell imagine.

Rick:

You know, let’s move to that action part of this. Because part of what you’re doing with the website, letsfixstuff.org, folks. Letsfixstuff.org. Part of what you’re doing here is you’re giving people the information and I even like the way it’s set up, “view the evidence”, right? So you got your headline about a particular topic, and especially with the whole COVID thing, and some of the treatments like hydroxychloroquine, and all of this. There’s so much misinformation out there that the citizen that’s listening right now and going okay, I do want to do something, but what can I do and how do I engage in the information war? What you’re doing is you’re bringing the good solid information, and then you’re giving people the ability to click and share and become, I don’t even know what you’d call it, but almost like a Paul Revere or an information war…

Pat:

You mean as respondents, right?

Rick:

Yeah. Yeah. I mean, all of us, right, becoming that and so you can go in and you can click on okay, look, here’s a whole section on hydroxychloroquine, why it’s it controversial; here’s one on the mass narratives and why it’s bad for children and then view the evidence, and then people can share that on their social media. I think that’s what we’ve got to get people to realize, is that you are an information warrior, you are part of this fight. We’ll give you the tools. We’ll give you the ammunition, but you’ve got to engage. They’re the only ones that can fire that weapon of information by clicking, send, or share or whatever it is. You can put all this on letsfixstuff.org. We’ve got to get them to go to letsfixstuff.org and then share that information.

Pat:

Right. And I got to do my part, make sure that everything in there is the actual source data. I go beyond just saying, here’s what you’re supposed to think about the news to here’s a link to the actual executive order, here’s a link to the actual emergency order issued by the Department of Public Health, here’s the actual link to that section of the constitution that they’re violating. So we’re letting everybody go off and do the math themselves. And you know, a lot of people in education are pushing for critical things like it’s a separate subject. No, critical thinking to be a part of every problem that we attempt to go out and solve. And I’m not just saying this as an engineer, I’m saying this as an American.

Rick:

Yeah, no, I agree with you 100%, and that’s why this is so imperative, and so needed. And so people can look to this as a great source of information, solid information. And I keep coming back to the COVID crackdowns, but you cover a ton of other stuff as well, that’s just one issue. You even have analysis of the debates of all the different things that are happening in the culture right now.

And post-election, right when we get past November, this tool is going to continue to be just as important. Now we don’t even know what the battles are going to be in January, February, and March and some having information like this, I love what you’re doing, brother. I mean, I think we need more of this. You know, I hope. And you’re doing this not just for Michigan, this is information that people can use all across the country.

Pat:

Absolutely. One thing when I was serving in Michigan Senate for eight years, I was completely, what they call policy wonk. So I’d go from work on subject as diversity to education, health care, labor policies, veteran services all across the board, and I would just immerse myself in that content. And the good news at the time, you know, even if it didn’t go all the way across the finish line from a policy perspective, I still have that data. And I’m making that data and information available for everybody all across the country.

Just like you do at the pro-family legislators’ conference and similar conferences across America, everybody shares policy ideas as well. These policy ideas, I’m going to share in a standard template. So like I used to teach at Space Camp in Huntsville, Alabama, and what I used to instruct the students on was engineering trade study analysis. Well, that’s essentially what I’ve done here with government policy, is that I’ve gone off and established the framework, little trade study framework. And for every public policy problem we face, I put it into a nice little template and says number one, what’s the problem; number two, give me a little bit of a background around that problem with the history; number three, what are the objectives of what I’m trying to solve here and what are the solutions that are available to satisfy those objectives, and then what’s the best solution to go off and pick? And we run everything through that.

And just imagine, I mean, you’re in the legislature. If you actually had those objectives out front, transparent, objective, everybody, and you actually evaluated every one of those solutions against those transparent objectives, not the hidden objective behind the scenes of the power brokers, right, the transparent objective that everybody could go off and see where they had to justify their scoring against those objectives, that would be a powerful way of restoring the voice of the people back into the process, I believe.

Rick:

Amen. Amen. No doubt. Well, in fact, I want to close with the last four lines of your mission. “With the truth as our foundation we will promote solutions that seek the best interest of all of us.” So spread the word. Letsfixstuff.org is the media channel we’ve all been waiting for. The truth is indeed out there and we are its own. Pat Colbeck, God bless you for what you’re doing, man. We are going to spread the word. We’re going to get people headed to the website. And we want to encourage everybody to share, share, share. That’s the only way this information is going to get out there. We had to bypass the major media and the folks out there that are just, I mean, literally create an Orwellian society. It’s funny you mentioned ministry of truth earlier, Pat, I mean, even back in April, I was going okay, Twitter, and Facebook have become the ministry of truth, the things I’ve seen them do these, they’re literally rewriting the truth, and then selling it to the American people. So it is an Orwellian society.

Pat:

And if it’s digital, they can change it behind the scenes, and you never knew it existed.

Rick:

Yeah. Yeah. I mean, to delete videos that have had millions and millions of views of doctors, doctors, on the front lines that are dealing with the COVID thing and we’re going to delete… They’re just sharing their evidence. They’re just sharing what’s been happening, thankfully, in your X Files, you’ve kept those videos and made it where people can still get that information. But man, I mean, it’s…

Pat:

And share with me. I mean, a lot of people out there seeing stuff censored, get it out to us, and we’ll get the information out. Just like you, I mean, I’m passionate, I didn’t go into elected office for the fun of it. I never sought a title or anything. We’re in a mission and you’re in a mission, you can tell what people do after they get out of elected office, how committed they really were to that mission. And man, I want to thank WallBuilders for your commitment to this mission. Because literally, I would not be as impassioned about what we’re doing at letsfixstuff.org if it wasn’t for the work that you guys did early on. I’ve said this before, but I never would have gotten into politics if it wasn’t for watching that first video with David Barton on America Godly heritage. Well, you guys have had an impact to many people’s lives, and I just want to say thank you.

Rick:

Well, man, we appreciate what you’re doing as well and right back edges. So thanks for applying those things and expanding that mission and that information. You know, I think people right now are sometimes so shocked by what they’re seeing that they’re just feel paralyzed. And so if we can get them more and more truth and give them these answers like you’re talking about, like we can shake them out of this trance that they’re in and restore our country. It’s absolutely what’s needed. Pat, appreciate you, brother. Keep up the great work and let’s get you back for some updates soon.

Pat:

Sounds good, knock on my life, my friend.

Rick:

Stay with us friends, we’ll be right back on WallBuilders.

BREAK

Have you ever wanted to learn more about the United States Constitution but just felt like, man, the classes are boring or it’s just that old language from 200 years ago or I don’t know where to start? People want to know but it gets frustrating because they don’t know where to look for truth about the Constitution either.

Well, we’ve got a special program for you available now called Constitution Alive with David Barton and Rick Green. And it’s actually a teaching done on the Constitution at Independence Hall in the very room where the Constitution was framed. We take you both to Philadelphia, the cradle of liberty and Independence Hall and to the WallBuilders library, where David Barton brings the history to life to teach the original intent of our Founding Fathers.

We call it the Quickstart Guide to the Constitution, because in just a few hours through these videos, you will learn the citizens guide to America’s Constitution, you’ll learn what you need to do to help save our constitutional republic. It’s fun, it’s entertaining and it’s going to inspire you to do your part to preserve freedom for future generations. It’s called Constitution Alive with David Barton and Rick Green. You can find out more information on our website now at wallbuilders.com.

Rick:

We’re back here on WallBuilders Live. Thanks for staying with us. And special thanks to Pat Colbeck for joining us as well, Letsfixstuff.org is a great website for you to get educated on these things, and also just to get to watch. I love what he does. Tim, he’s a rocket scientist himself. And so he actually has the rocket scientist on each issue, some expert on whatever the issue may be, great interviews and a great way to learn.

Tim:

Yeah, one of the things that I think is so great about this too is you’re seeing right now other platforms like Parler that is really taking off. And actually over the weekend, CNN was very remorseful and they said no, it’s not good that conservatives are leaving Twitter and Facebook because we need the diversity of voices. And if Facebook and Twitter wasn’t censoring conservative voices, there would be the diversity of voices. But there’s not diversity when big tech is censoring conservatives. Which is why it’s so great that as Pat’s pointing out, if you see people getting conservatives, man, let them know, they want to post it there, they want to talk about it, they want to make a difference. I’m so glad he’s doing this.

Rick:

Yeah, I think diversity to them means we have both conservatives and liberals on the site, and only the liberal voices heard and the conservative voices silence, they love that kind of diversity, right? So it is really cool. There’s so many good outlets out there. And I think that’s one thing for people to be encouraged about is the technology does allow us to create these new outlets. And who knows which ones will be the next Facebook or whatever. So you just got to think about where you want to go. We’re starting to export and upload and get our information out on all these different sites so that we can be there for the new audiences.

But I’m just thrilled that you got somebody like Pat doing this. It’s a great website for everybody to check out. And even right now it with all the election stuff going on and trying to keep up with what’s happening, what’s the deal with Dominion software, did they have algorithms? In fact, Pat was the one that actually discovered that they had the system plugged into the internet, one of the big no, no’s as he said on our interview last week. And we’ll probably get him back before the election is over to get that update as well.

If you want to get more of these updates, check out our website at wallbuilderslive.com. That’s also the place to donate. We are a listener supported program, so thank you to all the listeners out there across the country that donate on a monthly basis or sending those one-time donations. You can do that at wallbuilderslive.com. It’s also where you get archives the program. We appreciate you listening. You’ve been listening to WallBuilders Live.
