Rick:
Welcome to the intersection of faith and the culture. Thanks for joining us today on WallBuilders Live. Also visit our website wallbuilderslive.com, lots of great information there for you. I want to encourage you to check out the archive section you might have missed some programs last couple of weeks or months. And every program is power-packed with information on how to take on the hot topics of the day from a biblical, historical, and constitutional perspective.
You may even want to just listen to some of the Good News Friday programs from the past few weeks just to be encouraged, just to know that the principles of liberty work when we work them, that biblical answers to everything we’re facing today actually work. God’s way is not only right, it also works best. So check out those Good News Friday programs. Foundations of Freedom Thursday programs where we actually dive into your questions, which you can send to [email protected] And also there at our radio website, wallbuilderslive.com is the place where you can make a donation. Thank you to all of you across the nation for coming alongside us and helping us to spread this message and equip people all across America to save America’s constitutional republic.
I’m Rick Green America’s constitution coach and a former Texas legislator, here with David Barton. He’s America’s premier historian and our founder at WallBuilders, and also Tim Barton, national speaker and pastor and president of WallBuilders.
Alright, guys, later in the program, our buddy Jack Hibbs from Calvary Chapel out in Chino Hills in California will be with us, one of the few pastors that really stood up strong all throughout the COVID crackdowns and set a great example. And you can see and hear Jack in our Biblical Citizenship in Modern America course. So check that out at wallbuilders.com. But he’ll be on a little later. Guys, this one of those programs people are going to think we’re making this up, right? I mean, unless it’s happened in your community, when we say there are Satanic clubs operating on school campuses, around this nation, people think we’re nuts.
David:
Now, it’s a new trend. It’s a crazy trend. And people are not used to it yet. They don’t even know the beliefs of Satanist. Now, a lot of people that are going to be in the baby boomer or the Gen X era are going to think this is crazy stuff. And as you get younger down to lower millennials and Gen Zers, it’s not that weird thing. It’s just this is another belief that’s out there. And so what happens is what we’re seeing right now is the polling I’ve seen in the last few years, some of the fastest growing religious belief among Gen Zers is with Satanism. There’s more affiliated there, faster growth than they are anything else. So this is something very intriguing to them, very open them.
And this goes back to something Jesus taught in Luke, where it says, look, when you come in and you sweep a house and you throw out something bad, if you don’t replace it with something good, then the bad is going to come back seven times worse than what was there. And so what we’ve done is we’ve thrown God out, but we didn’t put anything back in and so now it’s coming in so many times worse. And why I think this is intriguing on Satanism is people say, well, it’s just another religious belief yet. But it’s a very different religious belief. Most people know it’s kind of anti-God, but they don’t really know what they believe in.
One of the things that intrigues me with this, and by the way, these new Satanism clubs are starting all over school are very open about the fact that they’re to counter Christianity. So in Christianity, the school Christian students in school, they want to equip kids to be able to reject that Christianity and overcome that Christianity get something different in there.
But if you look over the last 5-7 years, if you look at the groups that are the most active and fighting abortion laws, or anti-abortion laws passed in the States, it’s not Planned Parenthood. You know, Planned Parenthood, we’re used to them falling against prolife laws. But in the last five or so years, it’s been satanic groups that are doing that. Now, why would satanic groups do that? They testify in court that their religion requires a human sacrifice, and they look at abortion as the killing of a person, and therefore that satisfies their need for human sacrifice.
Now, first off on a prolife level, isn’t that interesting they consider an unborn child to be a human being? Because here they are suing, recognize and Planned Parenthood and others say, well, that’s not a child until it’s born. Well, Satan say yes, it is, and we need human sacrifice. Now, this also says something about the courts because if we go back into earlier courts case called Commonwealth vs Nesbitt or Linen Miller versus the people, the court said, hey, you have freedom for religious sacrifice. But it does not include human sacrifice. It does not include ritualistic shedding of blood. It does not include several things. That can’t be condoned under religion because that’s against the good of the state.
Traditional religion, Judeo-Christian, biblical kind of religion, many other religions that doesn’t harm the state, this does. And so this is what’s now growing in the country and people are kind of scratching their head and say, why is this so popular among young people? And why are people even treat? Well, most people don’t know what they believe. They don’t know what the teachings are and they don’t know what the agenda is. And so without somebody from a really crazy part of the country on California, Jack Hibbs, who has to deal with this kind of stuff on a regular basis would be able to kind of give some answers on this. And Jack, this is the kind of stuff they’re having to deal with in public schools in California for a lot longer than the rest of the nation has. So, Jack Hibbs, I thought would be able to give a good perspective on this.
Rick:
Yeah, in fact, it reminds me of a show we did with him probably four or five years ago when the whole boys and girls bathrooms and locker rooms was beginning there in California, and they were dealing with it right there in their community at the local public schools, and way ahead of what the rest of the country was having to deal with. And in some ways, this topic is very similar to that. So Jack Hibbs, our special guest. Stay with us, folks. We’ll be right back on WallBuilders Live.
ORIGINAL INTENT OF AMERICA
Hey, guys, this is Tim Barton with WallBuilders. And I know you hear my dad and Rick talk a lot about our founding fathers, about the original intent of our nation, the constitutional heritage that we have and really, we’ve seen how far we’ve slipped away from that. And I know a lot of us as we hear my dad and Rick talk thing, I wish there was a place that I could go and I could see these documents and I could read and learn about the founding fathers firsthand, see the things they did.
And I want to give you some websites today that can help you accomplish that very thing. If you get online, you can go to places like Library of Congress, and you can look under their century of lawmaking or historical documents, you can go to the Avalon projects, to the Founders’ Constitution, to Google Books, or even the internet archives, or you can just go to WallBuilders website, we have a section for our library, then under that section, we have different subgroups for historical documents, historical writings, even a place where you can get helpful links to find out more information about other websites where you can do research for yourself and find the truth for yourself. Friends, this is a time that we need to know who we are and where we came from. Wallbuilders.com is a great place to go.
AMERICAN HISTORY
This is Tim Barton from WallBuilders with another moment from American history. The Reverend James Caldwell was a famous minister during the American war for independence. His sermons taught liberty and God’s opposition to tyranny. The British hated him and tried to kill them. So for his own protection, he would actually take loaded pistols with him into the pulpit and lay them beside his Bible as he preached.
In the 1780 Battle of Springfield, the Americans ran out of wadding for their guns, which was like having no ammunition. Pastor Caldwell ran inside a nearby church and returned with an arm load of Watts hymnals, the pages of which would provide the much needed wadding. He took this great Bible based hymnal, raised it in the air and shouted to the troops, “Now put watts into them, boys.” This pastors ingenuity saved the day for the Americans.

Rick:
Welcome back. Thanks for staying with us. Always, always, always good to have Pastor Jack Hibbs with us. Hey, brother. Thanks for some time today, man.
Jack:
Rick, thank you so much.
Rick:
Well, you guys continue to lead the way in California. I’m telling people all over the country, man, the revival is starting in of all places the Left Coast, the California pastors are leading… Anyway, thank you for what you’re doing, man, you guys are on fire out there.
Jack:
I tell you what, man, we’re just trying to keep up with Jesus. I mean, and I’m not joking. We are running with him.
Rick:
Amen. Amen. Good stuff. Good stuff. Well, listen, David thought it would be perfect to get you on for this insane topic today because you deal with so much insanity. But it’s the satanic clubs. There’s literally a Satan clubs that are getting access to public square, to schools, I mean, it’s unbelievable. And people immediately might say, well, if you’re going to let a Christian club, you got to let them. What do you say to that for our culture whenever we’re actually embracing satanic clubs?
Jack:
Well, Rick, this is the amazing thing about the Republic that you and I live in. John Adams, all of a sudden, and Franklin, they all become prophets to us in these days. What I mean by that is this. Those founding fathers told us that this government of ours that they fashioned for us is only fit for a religious and moral people. And so what I believe has happened and what we’ve seen here in California, wherever there is a void in the school board or in the PTA, Rick, or in the city council of Christians where Christians do not get involved, that void is filled. And the void has been filled across the United States with people who have an agenda.
And one of those agendas is what we’re talking about today. It’s hard for people to believe. But this is the problem. There are literally real bonafide 501(C)(3) now satanic organizations. And it’s no secret because they have declared that they have the right to do so, and constitutionally, Rick, I guess they could make that point. But how would you stop that? Well, you would stop it by doing good. The good people in America need to do the right thing. And we need to take a stand.
So they’re saying to us, hey, we have a constitutional right to be satanic clubs because you’ve got Christian clubs on campus. The Muslims have their Muslim clubs on campus. And we are now a religion and so this is what we do. Well, what parents need to say is, wait a minute, why is it when I look at your websites or follow your founder or your groups, it always leads to sexual perversion, bizarre strange incantations, sexual promiscuity, nature worship? This stuff is harmful, and it comes down to one worldview against another. And that’s what we’re seeing played out. But again, Rick, I believe that this has manifested because the good people have been distracted or failed to get involved in the process.
Rick:
And it appears to be that abortion and infanticide is a central part of their theme. I mean, they even talk about abortion as a religious action or right. I remember, Jack, just, I don’t know, five years ago we had a big abortion fight going on in Texas and the Capitol was just we had massive crowds and a lot of us prolife people were there, and a lot of the pro-abortion people were there and they were literally chanting hail Satan. It was a shocking.
Jack:
Oh, yes. Yes, that’s very common for them to chant the hail Satan chant. But here’s our question, right, Rick, isn’t our question to the good citizens of America is what are you going to do about it?
Rick:
Yeah. Do you want this in your schools?
Jack:
Yeah, I guess we can think about, it’s a free country. Wait a minute. We have been commanded in Scripture to overcome evil by doing good. That means you got to get involved. And so just because someone’s got a right to do something doesn’t mean it’s a good thing to do.
Rick:
Or that you have to say that it’s okay to do that in our community. I mean, there used to be a community standard, right, there used to be some things are so bad and evil and destructive, we don’t want them in our community. I thought that was the compact of society that you could do that, you know?
Jack:
Well, exactly right. And here’s what’s shocking, is that this satanic group and its organization, they come right out and say that they are going into the public square to compete with or to overcome the good news clubs, the Christian clubs. That’s their mission statement. We are going in to compete with and to undo the Christian clubs. Now, people should care about that. It’s engagement. We’ve come to that point, Rick, where the believer can no longer sit idle, they’ve got to get involved in their local government, in their local schools, find out what’s really happening there and make some godly noise. This is called doing righteousness. We’ve got to do it.
Rick:
It’s not like they’re being subversive or secretive anymore. I mean, it is plain as day, good versus evil. People have got to decide what do you want your community look like? What do you want kids to be influenced by? I mean, these are the societal decisions that we’ve got to make. And if the church is silent, you nailed it right at the beginning, if the church is silent and not involved, someone else is going to fill that void.
The good news is when the church is involved, we see it happen all over the country where churches literally win a majority of the school board seats, they go in and clean house and restore good principles. So it can be done. But the church has to be the one to do it. Without the church, I don’t see how these kind of battles are won.
Jack:
And Rick, the believer needs to remember we’re not in heaven. I mean, look, here’s a winter day in California, it’s 74 degrees right now. I’m looking out my window at a palm tree. We think well, this is heaven. No, no, no, my friend, this is the pit. We’re in the battle. Heaven is coming later. We’ve got a fight on our hands.
And to give you a little bit of sample of that, Rick, in June of 2016, the Satanic Temple performed a pentagram ritual in Lancaster, California. That’s in LA County. And in California State Senate candidate Steve Hill is a person who they had hoped in his election would be the first Satanic Temple member to represent them at the state capitol. And there’s a big uproar because what do we do about this? And the community rose up and made enough stink and enough noise and that didn’t come to pass.
But the point is, they are on their target, Rick. They are on their mission. They’re not wavering. They’re passionate. They’re filled with an unholy spirit. They’re creative. And they’re using what is good and right against the Judeo Christian worldview of this nation again, because we’re not showing up to that fight. But right now here in California, our big campaign about everything is to do righteousness. That’s our challenge to the Christians.
Throughout the Bible, it says to do good, to do righteousness. And you got to ask Christians today, do you believe in Jesus? Yes. Do you believe in the Bible? Yes. Do you believe in doing good? Yes. Where are you doing good? Show us on the map, where are you doing it? And that’s where we see people kind of drop the mic. They don’t know how to respond to that. It’s the church’s responsibility, it’s the pastor’s responsibility to say, this is what’s going on in our town, we need to form a group to take care of that. I’m going to pray and study and preach on Sundays and Wednesdays, but you guys need to mobilize the community, you guys need to run with that. And it’s something that we’ve set out too long. It’s obvious. So we’ve really got to step into the battle. These are the last days. These are thrilling times, if as a Christian you choose to get involved.
Rick:
So what you’re telling me is if you’re sitting on the couch watching the news throwing your peanuts at the TV, because you’re upset is not doing good through truth and justice, it’s not actually making a difference in the community, you got to get off the couch and get involved what you’re saying?
Jack:
Man, I’ll be more blunt than that. If you go to church on Sunday, that’s all you do, that’s a problem. If you just go get filled up, and you don’t empty out during the week by pouring yourself out to your community, to your family, to your neighbors, something’s wrong. And I think the Lord has shaken up. I know he’s doing it in California, he shaken it up. And the line has been drawn.
The beautiful thing about California, you know, everybody’s moving out of California. But I got to tell you, there’s no gray area in California anymore. You’re either a follower, or you’re not of Jesus. It’s getting really, really well defined. Frankly, as a pastor, I’m thrilled about these days. Because as believers as we follow Jesus, we’re supposed to be like him. He was the most loved and the most hated, and we are going to be the most loved and the most hated. The difference is if we stand for what’s good and righteous, we’re going to be hated by the kingdom of hell. And that’s okay. Because Jesus said they’ve already been defeated. We just got to show up.
Rick:
Amen. Brother, everything you’ve said for us today seems to me falls right in line with Micah 6:8, he’s shown you, oh, man, what is good. What does the Lord require of you, but to do justly, love mercy and walk humbly with your God? There’s a lot of do, there’s a lot of action in that verse right there. Brother Jack, love you, brother. Thank you, Pastor.
Jack:
I love you too, man. Can’t wait to see you again.
Rick:
Let’s do it again soon. Thanks for coming on WallBuilders Live today.
Jack:
You bet. We’ll see you.
Rick:
Stay with us, folks. We’ll be right back with David and Tim Barton.

Rick:
We’re back here on WallBuilders Live. Thanks for staying with us. And thanks to Jack Hibbs for joining us today as well. Back with David and Tim Barton. Man, guys, I don’t even know where to start on this one because it is a little bit mind boggling that this is happening. But as Jack said, I mean it’s a real thing that we have to fight and we have to stop this.
Tim:
Well, I think one of the things that was so important from the interview too is when Jack pointed out that the biblical truth that you overcome the evil with the good, and so often we want to just stop bad things from happening without replacing it with something positive. Dad, even to your illusion earlier from again another biblical teaching where Jesus talked about there were somebody who had an evil spirit and the evil spirit was gone and they swept and cleaned the house out, but then they didn’t fill it with the truth of God’s Word or the Holy Spirit, I mean kind of you can navigate what that might need to be filled with, but you didn’t fill it with good things. And so then the devil came back, the demon came back and brought seven other spirits that were even worse than he was.
This is something that we can’t just say we need to stop the evil. We overcome evil with good. And Ricky, you talked about to the point that Jack made that we have to get involved, we can’t just be sitting on the couch and getting frustrated and throwing things to TV. We have to actually get up and get engaged in this. And this is to me something, as we look at this, it can be boggling, it can be crazy, the Satanist groups, what in the world is going on? This is where we know that we are in a spiritual battle.
And where schools used to be on the side of biblical truth, schools used to teach what the Bible said. And so students grew up learning what was right and wrong, what was good and evil, God the devil, they grew up knowing this. But now in this postmodernist world where we’re told that truth doesn’t even really exist, it’s up to each individual, and there is no God and right and wrong is subjective, it makes sense why a rising generation would be so much more susceptible in this current climate and culture to this evil of the Satanist clubs and to Satanism.
Or, you know, daddy, as you pointed out where for the Satanist that are pro-abortion, because they believe it’s a ritual human sacrifice. And by the way, just for anyone who thinks it’s farfetched, they’re literally worse some interviews over the last month or so with Satanists who were on national news and were taking these abortifacient pills, intentionally saying, hey, there’s something growing in me, I wanted to die. And so I’m intentionally trying to have an abortion right here on live TV because this is part of my worship, it’s part of my sacrifice to Satan kind of thing. That’s actually real stuff that’s happening. This is not farfetched.
This is where we actually can recognize that there is a real battle right now between good and evil. And when the Bible tells we know we wrestle not merely against flesh and blood, there’s some spiritual things happening here. And this is where as Christians, we have to make sure that we are putting on the whole armor of God, we are rising up, getting off the couch, and we are engaging in culture, whether that means we’re running for school board, whether it means running for city council, whatever it means, we have to be able to show that we are actually doing something that is good.
As Jack pointed out, if the only thing we’re doing is going to church, we’re messing up in a lot of areas thinking that well, I’ve done something good, right. I’ve checked off my spiritual duty for the week by going to church. Nope. We’re supposed to be doing something with our faith, which means we have to get engaged. And that’s part of how we can overcome the evil is when people who know what good is, who know what truth is gets engaged, and promotes what is good.
David:
You know, with this, I think it’s so significant, as Tim, as you pointed out, you overcome the evil with good. But I was having a conversation with someone just the last week or two, and we were looking at revivals in our lifetime. And I firmly believe, statistically speaking, America is in the midst of revival right now. And it’s kind of like the Great Awakening. When the Great Awakening was going, there was so much opposition, so much hostility to Whitfield and others. But I think we’ve seen even last year that the percentage of Americans who are reading the Bible has gone up in the last two years.
Tim:
And let me clarify too for those listening because I know we’ve had a lot of internal conversations about revival. We’re not talking about a weekend revival. We’re not talking about a revival that happened for a year or two somewhere. We’re talking about a cultural transformation, historically, what would be known something as closer to a first or second Great Awakening.
So what, dad, referring to just so everybody listening is on the same page, when we’re saying we are in the midst of a revival, think of it more in the terms of an awakening, a great awakening, because it’s something that’s not just happening for a weekend. This is something that is a cultural shift, a transformative shift, first and second Great Awakening, where moral clarity was restored to those inside the church. And it wasn’t restored those outside the church, and not even everybody inside the church. But there was a group of people in many denominations and churches that had a restoration of moral clarity, that stood up and began to fight for and promote moral clarity and they were able to influence culture by the truth that they had discovered from God’s Word and were able to shift culture because of the moral clarity they had discovered.
David:
And it’s interesting to see with them, you’re right, Tim, it’s a multi-year process, and didn’t communicate that well. But this is something that may take a decade or two. We’ve seen even California with Shawn Floyd, who does his crusades out there on the beaches and out in the streets and not anywhere close to a church, quite frankly, gets right out with the people. We’re seeing all these people come into Christ. This is a new experience for them. They include a lot of Satanists, witches, warlocks, others. And so we’re seeing something happened spiritually.
And so the person I was talking to who said, you know, this was back to the 70s what was called the Jesus Movement. In the 70s Jesus Movement, tens of thousands of people came to Christ, so many hippies at that time, were the countercultural thing and so the countercultural people come into Christ. And it’s interesting, he pointed out, the Bible, Jesus is described both his Lion and the Lamb. And the revival of the Jesus Movement was more like the lamb. Everybody got around an acoustic guitar, we sit down together around a campfire and we sang all these praise and worship songs.
But this time it’s going to be more like the lion. This time is going to be more combative. This time you’re going to have to stand up and have a backbone. You’re going to have to roar. I read a passage this week, and it jumped out at me because this is a passage out of the Bible. I have never in my life heard preached, and I’m sure a lot have preached on it because it’s in the Bible. And a lot of preachers do preach the Bible and probably even Hibbs even covered this.
But here’s a passage I’ve never heard preached on, Matthew 10:34-36, Jesus says, do not suppose that I have come to bring peace to the earth. I did not come to bring peace. I came to bring a sword. Now, I’ve never heard anybody preach on that. And he goes, I’ve come to turn a man against his father, a daughter against her mother, a daughter-in-law against the mother-in-law, a man’s enemies will be the members of his own household. I mean, this is like standing up and getting a backbone and people are going to turn against you when you do. But this is more like the line than it is lamb.
Rick:
Hey, guys, I mean this is that we’re back to Thomas Paine and I mean the American crisis, the times that try men’s souls. We don’t need summer soldiers and sunshine patriots here. We need Winter Soldiers. This is not a time for mansy-pansy feel-good Christianity. You’re right, David, Jesus was the Lamb but he was also the Lion. And what we need now are some Daniels, some Deborah, some Joels, some Shadracks, Josiahs, King David’s, those are the kind of folks that need to step up right now. It’s not feel-good Christianity at this point. It’s an American churches got to tap into that lion part. Really good work, guys. Appreciate it. Thanks to Jack Hibbs for joining us today. Thank you for listening. You’ve been listening to WallBuilders Live.
