Summary: Have your cleaning appliances stopped working well, all of a sudden? The problem may not be with your appliance, it may be the detergent you use. In an effort to be more environmentally friendly, detergent manufactures have eliminated phosphates. Phosphates used to be included in dish-washing and laundry soaps to aid in the removal of grime. Without the phosphates, a residue is left behind after the wash cycle has finished. This isn’t the only way forced environmental friendliness and over-regulation is causing problems for people.
