Faith and the Culture
Rick:
Welcome to the intersection of faith and the culture. It’s WallBuilders Live, extremely quick intro for you today, because we’re going to dive in to a presentation from Nick Adams. He joined us at Patriot Academy just a few weeks ago. And we’re going to share it with you right here on WallBuilders Live. Let’s dive in.
Nick:
Well, Rick, thank you very much for having me. I really appreciate it. You know that I love you. You know that I respect you. You know that I look up to you. I think you are exactly what America and Texas is all about. When I was thinking about coming to the United States, which I did for a long time, it was you and your type of organization that was always the top of my list. I’m honored.
I’m privileged. I’m blessed. I’m humbled beyond belief to be here with you.
Hello to everybody. I’m sorry that we couldn’t be doing this in person. But we will do our Best with American technology. We’ll American technology. We’ll do our best here and we’ll see if we can’t get everybody excited over the next 10 or so minutes about America and about this election and about everything that’s going on.
So the big message that I have for everybody that’s listening is I want you to be hopeful, I want you to be optimistic, I want you to be positive. Because being anything else is un-American. There’s a lot of problems right now. But let me tell you, there’s a lot of great stuff happening, a lot of really, really good stuff. And no matter what you hear, no matter how you feel, I want you to know that there are more of us than there are them.
There Are More Good Guys Than Bad
There are more of us, good guys than there are bad guys. There are more of us that love America than hate America. There are more of us that believe in America than don’t believe in America. The problem is that they’re a lot louder than we are. They’re better strategists than we are. And so we continue to get our butts handed to us pretty regularly these days, unfortunately.
But the good news is that we can win this fight. We are in a fight. There’s no doubt about it. What we’ve seen over the last three or four months, whether it’s COVID, whether it’s people within America that are looting and rioting and acting in a criminal way, America is under attack, under sustained attack. But we can expect that, because America is the greatest country in the world and that doesn’t sit very well with a lot of people.
Sadly, it doesn’t even sit very well with a lot of people that are American, that were born here, that are meant to be grateful for the country and the opportunity and the culture that they were able to be born into. Nothing irritates me more than people born in this country that really won the lottery that has have everything at their disposal.
They’re the beneficiaries of the greatest culture where anything is possible, where nobody stops you and for them not to understand that, for them not to appreciate that, for them not to want to stand up and defend and advocate for America, that is very, very disappointing.
But all we can do is stay strong. All we can do is, know our founding documents, know who we are, remember who we come from, remember what America is all about, remember what American values are. We’re not a socialist country, and we never will be. America and socialism just don’t go together. They are the chalk and cheese of the spectrum.
Here in the United States of America, we believe in individualism, we believe in patriotism, we are a confident people, we are an unapologetic people. We believe that anything is possible. We believe in making sure that there are next to no restrictions, impositions, prohibitions in existence that will make our success less likely. Socialism would have all of that totally eradicated.
If it is Not an American Century, it Will Not be a Free Century
It would make a place where people couldn’t succeed, where life would be more difficult, where nothing would be possible. And that’s just not who we are, that’s just not what we’re going to allow to happen.
You guys, there at Patriot Academy, you are on the frontlines. You are young, you are vibrant, you are energetic, and you are going to be part of this fight. You’re going to be part of this fight. Because in this fight, it’s not going to end tomorrow, it’s going to go on for the next few decades.
This needs to be an American century. And I’ll tell you why it needs to be an American century.
As your parents may have told you, there are no guarantees in life. But I will give you this one ironclad guarantee. If this is not an American century, it will not be a free century. Let me say that again.
If this will not be an American century, it will not be a free century. That much you can count on. That much you must know. So it’s in the interest not only for us here in America, but for people all around the world.
Because just think about what the world might be like without America. Imagine what the world might be like without America protecting everybody, without America being strong enough to stand up to evil and bad trade deals and everything else. What’s good for America is good for the world. When America is strong, the world is strong. When America is weak, the world is a weak and dangerous place.
Now, let me tell you. The Left want to take us out. They want to tear us down. They don’t like America the way that it is. They don’t like America’s founding. They don’t like America’s values. They don’t like America’s culture.
And if you put all of that together, they don’t like us Americans. They don’t like us, because they hate us. They don’t like us because they’re jealous of us.
We Need Churchillian Leadership
But we need to make sure that we stay strong. We need to make sure that we have Churchillian leadership. Not only in the Oval Office, not only in the US Capitol, not only in state capitals all around the country, but in our own hearts, in our own minds, because each and every single one of us are leaders in our own way.
We’re all patriots, and we all have a country to defend, we all have a nation to protect. And I want you to be Churchillian. I wrote a book, “Trump and Churchill: Defenders of Western Civilization”. It’s got a foreword by Newt Gingrich. If anybody’s interested in it, you can get it at Nickadamsusa.com. That’s Nickadamsusa.com. Signed, personalized, autographed the whole deal.
This time that we are in, this time that we are in calls for us to be Churchillian. It calls for us to be bold, to have the courage of our convictions, to have an unshakable, an immutable self- belief, to push forward, to take risks, to not conform, to not care whether we’re popular or unpopular, but to be concerned with what is right and what is just and to have the eye on the bigger picture, to know what is at stake.
Winston Churchill was the greatest figure of the 20th century. And I’ll tell you what, we’re very lucky to have President Donald Trump right now, very, very lucky, because this guy is about as close to Winston Churchill as we could have hoped for. He really is. Now, on the surface you wouldn’t think so. You know, one, Churchill was 5ft 6 and love to have a drink. President Trump is 6ft 4 and a teetotaler.
Winston Churchill loves taking a nap at every opportunity, and famously napped in his pajamas every afternoon. And by all accounts, our president, well, he doesn’t even sleep. You know, Winston Churchill was this soaring orator with this incredible rhetoric, Donald Trump, well, let’s just say he’s more so an effective tweeter. So there are a lot of differences on the surface. But where it really counts, deep down, that’s where the incredible parallels are.
Trump and Churchill
And let me tell you what they are. The two men, incredibly similar. Both refuse to conform to expectations. Both were hated by the establishment. Both endured battles with the media. Both love their country. Both followed monumentally weak leaders. Of course, Churchill had Neville Chamberlain and Donald Trump had Barack Obama.
And to say that Chamberlain and Obama had the spine of a jellyfish, well, that would probably be rather unkind of jellyfish. I’m sure that Rick would agree. So there are lots of great similarities between both men.
And the really important thing for all of you to know and remember is that if it wasn’t for Winston Churchill’s bravery, if it wasn’t for Winston Churchill’s instincts, if it wasn’t for Winston Churchill’s passion, then I may be speaking in Japanese to you. These are the levels at which we are at.
We’re either going to lose America or we’re going to keep America. We’re either going to have civilization as we’ve always known it, or we’re going to lose civilization as we’ve always known. Let me tell you guys something.
For the last 60 years, there has been a culture war raging in this country, but only one side has been fighting it. They’ve done it with lies, violence, the threat of violence, and the hostile takeovers of universities. They are dedicated to nothing short of our annihilation. And in the pursuit of that objective, they are governed only by two things, the rules of Saul Alinsky and the Chicago mob.
While this culture war has raged, we conservatists, we hard working, regular ordinary, everyday men and women have been busy getting on with our lives, working, paying off our mortgages. If we’re parents, saving up our money to send our children off to college.
And we’ve consistently and constantly and continually sought the high ground and elevated things like dignity and propriety and collegiality, to the point now where we wake up in the morning and we almost choke on our bacon and eggs, because we cannot believe what our eyes are seeing on the television.
A Relentless Assault on American Values
The local high school is just changing its name. The statue outside the courthouse has been there for eons, has been designated for removal. The elementary school, two counties away, has officially changed the school calendar to read from Columbus Day to indigenous people’s day. Day in and day out, there is a relentless assault on American values, a relentless assault on all the things that you and I know and love about this country. And it is for two reasons.
Number one. All of the cultural institutions that shape and generate our culture are in the hands of people that want to fundamentally transform America. Their words, not mine. They don’t like America the way that it is.
They don’t like the things about America that you and I like about America. They want to turn America into something that’s never been, something that it isn’t, and quite frankly and something that Rick will tell you as well, something that America should never, ever be.
The second reason is what I call the Passion Gap. And the reality is that over the last 60 years, the Left in this country have wanted to destroy America more than we have wanted to protect it. Let me say that again, because it’s very, very important that you understand this.
For the last 60 years, the Left in this country have wanted to destroy America more than we have wanted to protect it. And at the end of the day, this is no different. This boils down to a street fight. It’s going to come down to who wants it the most. And until we can match them in intensity, in passion and in strategy, we’re going to continue to lose all of the things that we know and love.
This is a fight guys that we didn’t start, but let me tell you something. This is a fight that we will finish. This is a war that we did not invite. But this is a war that we will gladly attend. Because as it turns out, this is an unavoidable, necessary conflict. This right here, where we are right now is Freedoms Colosseum.
Freedom is going to live or freedom is going to perish right here. And the actions that we determined to take at this juncture will determine what the pages of the history books yet to be written will say.
Make a Last Stand
Did we take and make a last stand? Did we do everything possible to save the republic? Did we speak to our neighbors, speak to our friends, speak to our relatives? Did we pull our fellow congregants out of the pews and into the voting booths?
Or did we continue to be bullied and harassed and silenced and intimidated by political correctness and identity politics? These are the questions whose answers will determine what happens. But I want you to have hope.
I came here to America because I knew it was the greatest country in the world. I came here because I knew that anything was possible. I came here because I knew that this was the place that would afford me the most freedom and the most opportunity to achieve the dreams that God put in my heart.
But I also came here in no small or insubstantial way, to make sure that the United States of America does not turn out like the country I felt I had to leave.
Guys, I am all in for America. I am on fire for America. I’ve decided to dedicate my life to promoting protecting and perpetuating the American idea. And I am beyond delighted to have each and every single one of you in the trenches with me, fighting gallantly for our values and our future. You make me proud to be an American. Thank you and God bless all of you.
Rick:
Wow! Nick, so good, brother. So good.
Stay with us, folks. That was Nick Adams speaking to Patriot Academy this summer. And when we come back, we’re going to get a little Q&A with Nick. Stay with us, you’re listening to WallBuilders Live.
Constitution Alive!
Have you ever wanted to learn more about the United States Constitution but just felt like, man, the classes are boring or it’s just that old language from 200 years ago or I don’t know where to start? People want to know but it gets frustrating because they don’t know where to look for truth about the Constitution either.
Well, we’ve got a special program for you available now called Constitution Alive with David Barton and Rick Green. And it’s actually a teaching done on the Constitution at Independence Hall in the very room where the Constitution was framed. We take you both to Philadelphia, the cradle of liberty and Independence Hall and to the WallBuilders library, where David Barton brings the history to life to teach the original intent of our Founding Fathers.
We call it the Quickstart Guide to the Constitution, because in just a few hours through these videos, you will learn the citizens guide to America’s Constitution, you’ll learn what you need to do to help save our constitutional republic. It’s fun, it’s entertaining and it’s going to inspire you to do your part to preserve freedom for future generations. It’s called Constitution Alive with David Barton and Rick Green. You can find out more information on our website now and wallbuilders.com.
Rick:
We’re back here on WallBuilders Live. We are listening to Nick Adams speak to the Patriot Academy this summer. He just finished his opening remarks and we’re going to jump in and catch the Q&A session with him right after that. Let me just ask you one question before we go in.
And first of all, I want to all of your books are great. I really want to make sure people know about class [inaudible 17:49] as well. Because especially, these young people, they need to realize, you know, that it is not necessary to go into debt and waste four years of their life depending upon what their career is.
What is at Stake?
But having said that, the Trump-Churchill book, I think is vital and not just because of Trump and what’s at stake in this election, but because leadership is vital and that style of leadership, as you said, that Churchillian attitude, leadership, boldness, against all odds, I mean, that’s part of the story we don’t often hear is Churchill, I mean, almost single handedly saved the world. I mean, Churchill single handedly led the way for England. Speak to that for a second.
How they as leaders, these patriots that are on with us right now, how they can be more Churchillian? What do they do to find that passion to defend America and find that boldness? And frankly, that I don’t care what anybody thinks, I’m going to stand for what’s right, because that’s one thing you point out is common between Trump and Churchill is, they’re not trying to be people pleasers. They’re doing what they believe to be right.
Nick:
Rick, it’s a great question, and it’s the seminal question, I think for every young person living in America right now. And I believe all in with an unshakeable self-belief that comes from a granted understanding of what it means to be an American, of what American values are, of what makes this place so different to everywhere else.
You’ve got to know, you’ve got to understand, you’ve got to feel it with every ounce of your body from the soles of your feet to the tops of your heads that American exceptionalism begins with the United State Constitution. Why? It’s because every single time any other country has ever attempted to emulate Constitution, it’s always set out powers of the government and the limits of the individual.
Well, you know, what makes America so special? You know what makes America so great? You know what makes America so worth fighting for? Our founders wrote a Constitution that sets out the powers of the individual and the limits of the government. How amazing, how incredible is that? And that has set us up to become the greatest country that any person has ever seen in almost 5,000 years of recorded human history.
Do Your Research
You look at science, you look at the military, you look at the economy, you look at culture, on every single barometer, America leads the way. America is the epicenter of the global spider web. Whatever we do, the whole web shakes, and it’s because of how we were set up.
Now, over the course of your lives, to all of the young people listening to this, you are going to be told by teachers, by professors, by talking heads on television, perhaps even by people in your own family, that the United States of America is not a good country, that the United States of America has a lot to apologize for, that the United States of America has nothing to hold up. And there’ll be any number of different statistics cited and different reasons given.
You need to stay strong in the midst of all of that, and you need to do your own research. And you need to go with your gut instinct. Don’t just follow what you hear. Read books, research, think about things. Take, for example, this Black Lives Matter stuff that we’re hearing right now, okay? African Americans in the United States of America.
Now, Black Lives Matter and media commentators all over the United States will have us believe that America is a racist country, that America is not a good place to be if you’re black or belong to some kind of minority. I want you to think about, don’t take my word for it, but I want you to think about a few things.
I want you to think about if you’ve ever heard of a black person born in America, living in America, that has left America to go and live somewhere else. That’s the first question I’d ask you to consider. The second question I’d ask you to research is to find out how many black Africans have immigrated voluntarily to the United States compared to the number of black Africans that came to the United States as slaves.
You will find that there are three times the number of black Africans that chose to come to the United States of America after the end of slavery than came as slaves.
Now, those two simple facts immediately, immediately do away with this nonsense narrative that were fed about America being racist place. They completely do away with it. So you’ve got to go with your gut instinct. You’ve got to know who you are. What does it mean to be an American? Well think about it. Being American means being free. Being American means being an individual.
E Pluribus Unum
Being American means you don’t have to go along to get along. Being American means that we believe our rights come from our Creator and not the government. Being American means that we believe in E Pluribus Unum. We like people coming to America the right way.
We like people joining our country, provided that they assimilate once they’re here. We don’t believe in multiculturalism like the rest of the Western world. We believe in E Pluribus Unum. It’s inscribed on every coin. It’s printed on every single denomination of US currency. E Pluribus Unum, what does that mean? Out of many, one.” So that’s what we’re about.
We’re not a secular nation. We don’t subscribe to secular multiculturalism. We don’t believe in collectivism. We believe in the individual. We believe in freedom. We believe in God. We speak English. And we are going to stand up for our country. And if you want to be more Churchillian, you’ve got to be bold.
Political correctness and the Left want to destroy self-confidence more than anything else. That’s why they hate our president so much. That’s why they don’t like people like Rick Green, that’s why they don’t like people like me, because we’re self-confident. And I want all of you there to be as confident as you can possibly be. I want you to walk into a room and have your head held high. Because we’re not slinking around for anyone, we’re Americans. We are who we are. Some people like us. Some people don’t like us. That’s too bad.
But being Churchillian means being bold, being courageous, being passionate and following your heart and following your instincts. Now, that runs counter to everything that you’re going to have to face in life. Because you’ve got people trying to undermine your confidence, you’ve got people trying to strip you of your patriotism, you’ve got people trying to remove your self-belief.
Keeping America Exceptional – With Nick Adams
Don’t let them. Don’t let them. Be Churchillian. Be Trump-like. Remember who you are. Be proud of who you are, and don’t apologize.
Of course, when you make a mistake, you get something wrong, you hurt someone you didn’t mean to hurt, apologize. But don’t just apologize for the sake of apologizing and appeasing and getting on to get along. Be proud of who you are. Be confident. If people don’t like it, that’s too bad. That’s the Trump way. That’s the Churchill way. That’s the Nick Adams and Rick green way.
Rick:
I love it, Nick. Thank you, Nick Adams, appreciate you being with us today. Thank you everyone out there that was listening today to WallBuilders Live. Be sure to visit our website at wallbuilders.com and wallbuilderslive.com. You’ve been listening to WallBuilders Live.
