Rick:

Welcome to the intersection of faith and the culture. This is WallBuilders Live, where we talk about today’s hottest topics on policy, faith and the culture. But we do that from a biblical, historical and constitutional perspective. My name is Rick Green. I’m America’s Constitution coach and a former Texas legislator. And I’m here with David Barton. He is America’s premier historian, he’s our founder of WallBuilders and he’s a guy that made me love history. He brings it to life. He has the largest private collection of Founding Fathers documents in the world. It’s an amazing library.

And it’s just a privilege to get to work side by side with the Bartons. That’s right. I said Bartons, because Tim Barton’s with us as well. National speaker and pastor. He’s the president of WallBuilders, speaks all around the country and you should book him. Check it out at wallbuilders.com and get David or Tim or myself to come in and give you a presentation. Now, that people are starting to meet together again, America is beginning to live hopefully, we’ll see where everything goes in the next few months.

But here’s what we do at WallBuilders. As we look at these things from a biblical, historical and constitutional perspective, we apply that perspective to the culture. And one of the things that happens when you apply a biblical worldview, when you look at the constitution and history, you know learn from those things, and you apply the right principles, you get good results. And we love to share good results here on WallBuilders Live.

Good News Friday is what we’re at today. This is a favorite day of the week for me, because this is a chance to hear about some of the good things that have been happening out there that don’t get reported most of the time. And David and Tim have been collecting these stories, and now they’re going to share them with us. So let’s get some of that good news. David gets first piece of good news today.

David:

We’re now about three weeks, four weeks out from both conventions and so now we’ve seen all the polling this coming out and what’s happening with it. And we talked last week about just kind of looking back on the Republican convention and looking at some of the things that were highlighted there, and what the polling showed about some of that.

And one of the things that we talked about last week was the fact that Republicans confronted head on what was happening with protest, what was happening, the violence and statues in cities etc. and the Democrats did not in their convention and even CNN and their commentators were saying they thought that was a strategic mistake not to talk about it, because it is on the minds of people.

And so as you look at the polling now, it’s very interesting to see where the polling is on this. And maybe it explains why the Democrats did not address the issue and Republicans did. Because here’s a national poll. Rasmussen has got this poll out. And they are asking people whether there should be a crackdown on these violent protests. Because as you look at cities like Seattle and Portland, what would come up, 140 days of consecutive protest. I mean, it’s just amazing that the protests have been going since way back months ago.

And so, when you look at the polling numbers, the disagreement is sharpest at the partisan level. And so what you have is roughly 47% of plurality, not a majority, but a plurality of unaffiliated voters kind of independence think that the police should crack down. And so overall, nationally, it’s 50% think they should be cracking down, 38% think there should not be a crackdown. So it’s a majority overall. The unaffiliated voters are kind of like the total numbers. I mean, 47, close to 50.

But when you go to Democrats or Republicans, 75% of Republicans think there should be a crackdown on these ongoing protests. They’re violent. They’re destroying cities. They’re destroying the inner parts of cities. They’re destroying small businesses, etc. So 75% of Republicans think there should be a crackdown. Only 31% of Democrats think there should be a crackdown on the protests.

Listen to this number. 56% of Democrats say the protest should be permitted to continue until the protesters want to end them. So there’s nothing the protesters can do that would be worthy of an intervention, we just let them go until they want to end it?

Rick:

I mean, that’s shocking, David. I mean, do you think they actually are ignoring the violence that they just don’t see it or even if they see the violence, they think that’s okay, they’re just justifying it?

David:

Look what happened with Chaz and Chop. That violence went on until they got the mayor’s house and then she said, alright, I’m stopping it now. You know, they’re philosophically for everybody protests until it becomes personal. We’ve seen that with a number of mayors, more than one, where that when it got into their household, then suddenly, I’m putting into this. They let it go as long as it was everybody else’s household, but when it got to theirs, it was different.

But just the notion that you let these continue until the protesters want to end them, oh, my gosh, we have lost all concept of law and order. Let’s let those that break the law define what laws should be enforced and should not be enforced. I mean, this is absolutely astounding to me.

And the partisan divide, I would not have thought on law and order issues, we would have that bigger divide, 75% versus 31%, Republican versus Democrat. I would have thought Americans were law and order kind of people, but that’s just not the way it is. Which probably, again, explains what the Democrat convention did not address the protests, because two-thirds of their people, 56% versus 31% think they should go. And so they’re not going to say anything that the American people don’t think they should go.

But what’s interesting is, you had one out of three voters who said that the protests and whether they continue is very important to how they vote in the election. And 62% say it is important, not very important, but just important. So we’ve seen the protest rise to one of the top three issues in the election. That’s now one of the top three most significant issues of the protest. And this is a big deal. And so, you know, Democrats have just kind of left us on the table.

And it’s interesting that I’m looking at an article here that says, “From Los Angeles to New York from Philadelphia to San Francisco, the movement to defund police departments across the country is growing.” This, as at least 12 other cities also brace for severe budget cuts in funding the police. There’s a spike in violence nationwide.

So they’re defunding the police, violence is going up. Highest level we’ve seen in a long time. Austin just funded the place by $150 million. And so you see all this stuff. But what I thought was interesting is listen to the cities they named, Austin and LA and New York and Philadelphia and San Francisco and Blue, Blue, Blue, Blue. And the article, they also talked about Chicago and Kalamazoo and Cincinnati, and every city they named in there is a Blue city.

And this goes back to that polling that that you look at what’s in the polling there and Democrats, by and large, don’t want to stop the violence, again, by 56-31 margin, they don’t want that to stop. It’s crazy. But the good news is, the American people in general, don’t buy in to the protest and letting them continue as long as protesters want. They want law and order and that’s a healthy sign for America.

Rick:

Well, and you know, last week on Good News Friday, we talked about the convention and the fact that all those issues were hit head on by the speakers, including Trump in his acceptance speech. And I thought that was so good that while the Democrats ignored this, there were a lot of us out there watching both conventions, wanting to know who’s going to stop the craziness, who’s going to stop this violence and start protecting our cities? And so, I think it’s good that those numbers are that strong, but I’m like you, I’m just shocked that there’s such a disparity that there’s that many people on the Democrat side that are fine with lawlessness. Really, is the only way you can describe it.

Quick break, we’ll be right back, more good news. Tim Barton’s up next. Stay with us, you’re listening to WallBuilders Live.

BREAK

The Founding Fathers of America made a habit of reading through the Bible once a year. There’s no better source of wisdom and it is applicable to every issue in our lives. What a great time for us as American citizens to take this time. If you’ve got extra time at home now, if you’re quarantined at home and you’re looking for something to do, what better thing could there be to do than to read through the Bible, maybe for the first time in your life?

I tried to make this a habit several years ago and I had a new tool to start doing that with and it was called the Founders’ Bible. It gave me a chance not only to read through the Bible once a year, but also to learn history while I was doing that. And what I love about the Founders’ Bible is that as I’m reading that Scripture, then all of a sudden, there’ll be an article inserted right there by that Scripture about what the Founding Fathers learned from that specific verse or chapter and how they applied it to launch our new. It’s a really fun way to learn. It’s incredibly empowering and it has answers for today. The Bible is full of all the right answers for today, in fact, it’s the only source that has all the right answers.

So, if you haven’t read through the Founders’ Bible, I challenge you and encourage you get a copy of the Founders’ Bible today, it’s available at wallbuilders.com. And we even have a digital version, so you can do this on your phone or iPad or computer. Check out the Founders’ Bible today, make it a part of your regular reading throughout the year. But right now, is a great opportunity to redo the Founders’ Bible. Check it out today at WallBuilders.com.

Rick:

We’re back here on WallBuilders Live, Good news Friday today. And the next piece of good news is coming from Tim Barton.

Tim:

Alright, guys, this is coming from a college in Arizona. This one is kind of an interesting situation. There was a professor who taught a course on world politics. And in this world politics course, there are apparently six different modules that would cover different areas of world politics and one of the modules that were defining and analyzing Islamic terrorism.

Now, you can imagine if we’re analyzing and defining Islamic terrorism, and we’re calling it Islamic terrorism, we’re probably going to identify some really bad things that terrorists have done, claiming to do this in the name of Allah, they’re Muslims. And so it’s really bad stuff that they’ve done.

Well, there’s a Muslim student in the class, who got super offended that this professor would dare to say anything that would be derogatory that a Muslim will do something bad, even though there was a lot of document, there was a lot of evidence what this professor was showing, by and large, it’s hard to argue against, because it was true, it’s just that it was offensive to the student. And so the student decides I want to do something.

So the student with CAIR and CAIR is the Council on American-Islamic Relations, filed a lawsuit against the professor and against the college. And by the way, for those that don’t know, CAIR also was named as a co-conspirator in a federal terror finance case involving Hamas and a group with Hamas connection. So, CAIR really has been on the wrong side in a lot of ways.

David:

And by the way, Hamas is an official recognized terrorist group. So, if you don’t know that name, that’s a group officially on the US terrorism list.

Tim:

And on the terrorism list, because they’ve attacked soldiers, they’ve killed people, they’ve murdered people, they’ve kidnapped, they are terrorists for a reason, not just because somebody doesn’t like them, because they’ve actually committed acts of terror and have killed people anyway. So CAIR’s help partner and fund them. So really a bad situation.

Nonetheless, what happened when this lawsuit was filed, just like most universities do today, in this case, it was Scottsdale Community College. So not a university, but still, it was a taxpayer funded institution. And so the school caved, they said, oh, my goodness, we’re so sorry. And so not only did they issue an apology, the marketing team then wrote an apology and told the professor to sign it. And the professor is Nicholas Damask. And Nicholas said, no, I’m not signing that. He’s been a professor for more than two decades.

And he’s taught this world politics, kind of course, for a long time. He said, look, I know what I’m teaching. It’s accurate. I’m not backing down. And so he decided he needed to find somebody represent him. He wouldn’t found FIRE, which we’ve had some of those guys on before. It’s the Foundation for Individual Rights And Education and they do a lot in the educational academic world.

And so this thing ends up going to court with CAIR defending this position that you can’t say anything bad against any of the Muslim faith, even if they are an Islamic terrorist, you can’t say that, because that’s mean, that’s bad and don’t point out what they did, because that’s not nice. And FIRE says, look, he has the freedom of speech, etc, etc. He’s an academic professor. He’s upholding things that are accurate, that are academically acceptable, etc. Well, it goes to court and in court, Judge Susan Brnovich…

David:

What would you say that again, please?

Tim:

Yeah, that’s actually, if you just kind of follow the phonics, that’s what it looks like. So I don’t know if that’s an original American name, maybe family immigrant sometime in the past, but we’ll call her Judge S, because I don’t know how to…

Rick:

I just want to know if you practiced off air. I mean, I just want to know if you went like outside in the hallway or in the bathroom to practice that name.

Tim:

Well, that was pretty much [crosstalk 12:44], which is why it sounded like that. If I tried again, Brnovich, Brnovich, Brnovich. Yes, it’s Judge Susan Brnovich. Yeah, that’s fine. That’s exactly what I’ve been saying, guys.

David:

You’re getting better as this goes on.

Tim:

Actually, if she ever listened, she’d be like, it’s getting worse. No, you’re wrong. You’re going the wrong direction. It’s not how I say my name. Anyway, so she is a Judge who gets this case and she looks at it and says, okay, this is utterly ridiculous that you’re telling his professor you can’t say things that are historically accurate, that are true. And what she says in the ruling is that he was not telling the student that the student had to believe anything, but just learn the facts and be able to recite the facts. And she said that the accusation that this professor was against Islam can only be construed if you only pick select quotes from the course and more or less take them out of context can you presume this to be a purely anti-Islamic course, which is part of what CAIR argued.

Now the reason we bring all this up, is not only because a professor is now able to teach something historically accurate, like even September 11, that was carried out by Islamic extremist terrorist. That’s true. And this is again, I mean, we can caveat and say, look, not everybody who was Muslim approved of what happened. That’s absolutely true. There are many Muslims who condemn it. Okay, that’s fine, we can acknowledge that.

But the point was that act of terror was done by Islamic terrorists. And they did it in the name of Allah, that was part of their faith, but they wanted to do. What’s significant about this Judge, is this Judge was appointed to the Bench in 2018. And this Judge was appointed by President Donald Trump.

And one of the things that we have seen is over the last several years, so many cases where, in this case, dealing with something that might be considered politically incorrect. Well, you can’t say an Islamic extremist terrorist is actually Islamic extremist terrorists who did bad things, there would be people would say you can’t say that which is actually what CAIR argued in this case, trying to say this professor was wrong and make him lose his job, make him apologize, make him stop teaching this course.

But the reality is, because there is a president who’s been able to appoint more than 200 Judges on a federal level, we are seeing a different result and really common sense on a lot of levels for cases that we didn’t see common sense on before. So this is just one more example of the really good news of cases going a different direction and a more constitutional direction because of the Judges that President Trump has been able to appoint.

Rick:

Very good news. Okay, guys, we got to take a quick break, we’ll come back in just a moment. Folks, there’s more good news on our website wallbuilderslive.com. You can go into the archive section, and listen to lots of great programming from the last few months, but specifically those Friday programs with more good news. Rick:

We’re back here on WallBuilders Live. Thanks for staying with us on this Good News Friday. David Barton’s up next with a piece of good news.

David:

I’m going to go to US Customs and Border Protection. What do you think I’m going to talk about?

Tim:

Probably something related to Customs and Border Protection.

David:

Like immigration?

Tim:

Well, I mean something, you know, Customs and Border Protection makes sense to me.

David:

Well, actually, it’s not going to have anything to do with immigration at all, at least I don’t think so, unless you guys find a connection, I don’t see immediately.

Tim:

I’m going to work on the connection. You go ahead and tell the story, I’m going to find the connection.

David:

What they have announced is in the first six months of 2020, so this is up through June and of course, it takes the government a little bit to release their numbers and some not here we are weeks later. But we now see the numbers and first six months, they were able to seize 20,000 counterfeit US driver’s licenses that were being shipped into the country illegally. Now, why would you want an illegal US driver’s license?

Rick:

An illegal driver’s license?

David:

It could be because you have to have a driver’s license when you go vote. Maybe this would help. But the 20,000 they seize is was only at one location. So, they seize 20,000 at Chicago O’Hare Airport. It came…

Rick:

Not the border?

David:

Not the border. At the airport, coming in and it came in from out of country in over 1,500 shipments. So they’re only shipping 10 to 15 driver’s licenses per each shipment and they’re mixing it with all this other stuff. And the shipments are coming in from South Korea and Great Britain and in places that are our allies, right? They’re all being sent from China. So China is smuggling in tens of thousands. And this is just what they captured in Chicago alone, just at O’Hare.

So here’s China trying to disrupt elections and other things by getting all these counterfeit drivers license. And the Borders and Custom Patrol people said, hey, this stuff looked really professional. It wasn’t sloppy. These look really genuine. They’re the kind of things that you would see and say yeah, that’s a citizen or whatever.

And so, I mean, I just find it interesting that you’ve again got outside meddling trying to go on with the elections and things with US anyway. They want to disrupt anything to can. Not just elections, but economics and politics and whatever. But the good news is, exposed and they’ve seized it. And so no telling what else is going on.

But this is kind of a wakeup call. We talked about this on a Foundation of Freedom Thursday, in the sense that what we’re seeing where they’re wanting to do these mail-in ballots where you don’t have to appear and have a driver’s license or whatever, that that’s an opening for corruption. But now we’re seeing that even if you have a driver’s license, you may be looking at some really good counterfeits, so we now know that’s going on.

But I think the good news is here that it’s been uncovered in time to help alert people, to maybe help with voter integrity and have a really clean election. We want the best election possible. We want the most honest election possible. And finding 20,000 counterfeit driver’s licenses just in Chicago O’Hare, kudos to the Customs and Border Patrol for being heads up on that.

Rick:

You know, as often as we think our law enforcement and we talked about back in the blue, we forget those guys, Customs and Border Patrol. They have one of the toughest law enforcement jobs in the world. And that’s not just the guys on the border. It’s the ones that serve throughout the country and try to protect the integrity of our elections, protect the integrity of our citizenship, all of those things. So thanks to all those guys.

Quick break, guys. We got one more segment of good news before the day’s over. I hate it when Good News Friday ends. It’s like a drug. You just want more good news, more good news. Anyway, give me some more good news when we come back. Stay with us folks, you’re listening to WallBuilders Live as

BREAK

Many of you out there are under stay-at-home orders by your governor or your local health officials and maybe you’re looking for something to do during this time. One of the most important things you can do as a citizen is to make sure that you know your rights, you know when they’ve been violated and you’re the better prepared to defend and assert them. To do that, you’ve got to study the Constitution and the history behind it.

Constitution Alive with David Barton and Rick Green does exactly that. We take you into the WallBuilders library, we bring all those resources to life. And then we go out to Philadelphia, the Independence Hall and right there in the room where the Constitution and the Declaration were put together, we bring it to life, we relive it and we make sure that we as citizens know what our part is in preserving these freedoms for future generations.

At this time in our nation, it is so important to know the proper role of government and what we as citizens should be doing at this time. If you haven’t done Constitution Alive, check it out at wallbuilders.com. You can get the DVD set there, we’ll get it out in the mail to you as soon as we can. And you can study it at home or you can go to constitutioncoach.com and become a Constitution coach today. We’ve got a free license for you right now where you can sign up as a Constitution host and be the catalyst in your community to bring back these biblical and historical and constitutional values.

And what you do is you sign up as a host and then you get your friends and family together on Zoom. We coach you on how to do it and you’re able to create community and also study the Constitution at the same time. Do this and we will be able to pick up the pieces on the other side of this crisis and rebuild our nation even stronger than it was before. Check it out today at constitutioncoach.com.

Rick:

We’re back here on WallBuilders Live. Final segment of the day. Last piece of good news. Tim, is it going to be a good one? I mean, it’s Good News Friday, so it’s supposed to be a good, Good News Friday program, right?

Tim:

That’s what I’m saying. I mean, it’s Good News Friday, so it’s got to be good on some level. We’ll see if it makes the grade or the grand and we’ll go through that. But this is starting in Indiana. So depending on how you feel about, Indiana might already kind of temper balance, weigh the scale a little bit. This is about a Mayor Brian Snedecor and this came out just within the last couple of weeks.

Interesting, going back a couple of weeks, when you look at the Democratic Convention and Republican Convention, and we’ve talked about how there were some narrative shifts within those two. We’ve already seen some change in polling because of it. Very clear delineation. Also, on top of the fact, at the Republican convention, they were addressing many of the issues that that seemed to have been ignored during the Democratic Convention, talking about the unrest and the riots and the cities that were being destroyed and all these issues.

Well, it’s in regard to that and cities being destroyed and really how the Democrat Party addressed or didn’t address some of these issues that made a difference. So Mayor Brian Snedecor was a Democrat Mayor. He has been Mayor for more than a dozen years…

David:

In Indiana?

Tim:

In Indiana.

David:

It’s probably than a fair-sized town, because most of the rural towns, I think, tend to be Red, so he must have a fair-sized town.

Tim:

Well, so it’s Hobart, Indiana, and I haven’t looked up to see what the population size is there. Nonetheless, he came out at a press conference. And at this press conference, he was surrounded by many political leaders from even statewide positions. And he said, I’ve really been a Democrat most of my life. He said, “And when I first ran for office 13 years ago, he said the National Democratic Party was modern, conservative and appeal to many to make the nation special.”

Now, first of all, when he says the Democrat Party was conservative, it makes me think, wait a second, where they conservative? But I remember when Obama ran for his first term, he did run on a platform of traditional marriage. And he said, I believe marriage is between a man and a woman. And it wasn’t till Obama’s second term that he said, well, my position on marriage has evolved and now, I think it can be for anybody in any gender and blah, blah, blah. So I remember, no, actually, it the Democrat Party was much more conservative during Obama’s run up to his first term…

David:

And that when Obama ran in that first term, I was actually served as Speaker for the Republican guy on the other side, and I did a debate with the Obama representatives versus me up in Pennsylvania, which was a battleground State. And in that debate, it was interesting that the Obama representatives not only were on the side of traditional marriage, they said President Obama is also prolife. I mean, that was the position they took on behalf of Obama, that is prolife. That’s a conservative position as well.

Tim:

Yeah. Which certainly would be more of those as this mayor said, the more modern conservative traditional positions. He said, “But I watched as a national Democrat platform, and the party has moved more and more to the left. And so he said, I’m leaving the Democrat Party, I’m going to become a Republican.” Well, not only did he have political leaders there, who were republicans, there actually were some of the city councilmen who served under him as mayor, who were Democrats. And one of them was Matt Clausen.

And Matt Clausen stood up and said, “Look, Brian, and I haven’t always seen eye to eye on every issue, but we’ve always been able to talk it out and agree.” He said, “And I support Brian. He’s a good man and a good person.” It’s interesting that when the party you’re leaving, the people who’re there are honest enough to say, no, no, this is a good person, we support him. It’s just interesting now, with all the craziness going on, that even people from the other side of the aisle, which seems that there’s such a great divide. No, there’s people who are on the other side, who still have the eyes to recognize some of what’s going on is crazy and it needs to stop. And they’re also recognizing which party is advocating for those things to stop and that’s really good news.

Rick:

Well, the more educated we are, the better decisions we can make at the polls and everything else we do. But part of what we’re doing here on WallBuilders Live is educating, equipping and inspiring citizens to do their part. To take on that citizenship seriously. To do what Jesus said, render unto Caesar what is Caesar’s and we are Caesar in America. And therefore, as citizens, we the people, the ultimate authority in America, we’ve got to do our part and make good decisions. That means voting. That means getting out there and letting our voice be heard.

We’re so glad you’re listening to WallBuilders Live. We hope you’re taking this information and you’re using it and you’re sharing it. Use all your social media tools, become a Constitution coach and host the class, where David and I teach it in Independence Hall and in the library at WallBuilders. So many different things you could be doing right now to help educate your friends and your family and the people in your circle. Help us save America’s Constitutional republic.

Thanks for joining us today. You’ve been listening to WallBuilders Live.
