Rick:

Welcome to the intersection of faith and the culture. This is WallBuilders Live, we’re taking on the hot topics of the day from a biblical, historical and constitutional perspective. And we’re glad you’re here with us to do exactly that, because not only do we talk about those hot topics from that perspective, we encourage you to take action on those hot topics, but with that biblical, historical and constitutional perspective.

My name is Rick Green. I’m a former Texas legislator and America’s Constitution coach. And I’m here with David Barton and Tim Barton. The Barton family has done so much for our country. I was just reading a couple of articles just talking about the difference in opinion on separation of church and state, even what’s being written in Supreme Court opinions now versus 30 years ago and how much so much of that is because of David Barton writing originally, The Myth of Separation of Church and State and then Original Intent and then all the things that WallBuilders has been doing over the years. So I just love these guys, love their entire family and so thankful for the Barton family and WallBuilders and what they’ve been doing.

David Barton, of course, America’s premier historian and our founder of WallBuilders; Tim Barton is a national speaker and pastor and president of WallBuilders. And you can book both of these guys by going to our website at wallbuilders.com. And we love coming out to your community and sharing and speaking at churches and conferences and things like that to share the truths about where our country came from, what the principles are that make the country great, and how to restore those things. And that’s essentially the goal of the program.

The name WallBuilders actually comes from that scripture in Nehemiah that says arise and rebuild the walls, that we may no longer be a reproach. And that’s what we’re doing. We’re rebuilding the foundations, the principles that make a nation great, and you get to be a part of that when you join us here on WallBuilders Live, whether it’s just listening to the program or even if you share the program with your friends and family, you’re sort of like a broadcaster in a way, you’re a force multiplier, you’re helping us to expand the voice.

And then when you donate to the program, same thing, you’re helping us to add stations and reach more people. So if you want to do any of those things, go to wallbuilderslive.com, that’s wallbuilderslive.com, that’s our radio site. And then wallbuilders.com is our main website, that’s where you can get a lot of the curriculums and other things that are available for you to be able to get educated, equipped, inspired to make a difference out there.

And today specifically to get educated, equipped and inspired, especially inspiration today because it’s Good News Friday and we love getting the good news that has been out there, we just haven’t seen most of it from the major media. But I love Friday’s and love talking about the good news that’s happening.

Alright, guys, let’s dove into that good news. First piece of good news is going to come from David Barton. David, where are we going first today?

David:

Well, this deals with a business situation and I don’t know, it’s good news or it’s humorous news or whatever, but we’ve been talking over recent weeks how that corporations and a lot of businesses are starting to be fed up with what’s woke and they’re just not tolerate in the woke stuff anymore and we didn’t hire you to be woke. We didn’t hire you to bring your political views into this setting. This is a business. We provide a service.

And so we just noticed how in a lot of larger companies now they’re starting to push back against this work stuff instead of really embracing it. And I’ve got a story about that. And the title is “Woke employee refused to work because he’s in mourning about overturning Roe and he just got fired”. And it’s kind of humorous in some ways. It’s not humorous in the way that this guy really as you listen to him talk about why he did what he did. But as you see the free market response to it, that’s what I think is positive. So let me just kind of go through this real quick.

We go back to the Dobbs decision, came down right at the end of the Supreme Court term where the Supreme Court said, hey, abortion is not a constitutional right. This is something that at least belongs to the states. It’s not a federal issue. This is a state issue. And so at Universal Music Enterprises, there was a music industry guy there, and his job was to send out these notices to 275 clients updating on what’s happening that day and what the latest news is and what’s happening in that industry.

And so what happened was this employee, Michael Lopez, he said, look, I’m in mourning for what happened. He talked about how that he was outraged at the ruling and it was attack on people with uteruses and abortion rights. And he wrote he says, “I’m in mourning due to the attack on people with uteruses in the U.S. Federally-guaranteed access to abortion is gone, paired with the flood of anti-queer and anti-trans legislation, it’s been hard to process how companies expect us to be productive while our rights are being stripped away.”

So he decided not to send out and do what his job was, and that was notify 275 people of the news that day from the music side and what was going on. And so he came in and found the next day he was fired. And he was fired, as they said, they gave three reasons for him being fired. They said, number one, you’re not doing your job; number two, you disrupted the day of 275 people; and three, you showed poor judgment. And so he goes ballistic “Because I just got fired from this email on Friday. They’re letting you know where they stand on employees speaking out on politicians and support marginalization for folks like me, a brown queer person terminated during Pride Month speaking in support of abortion rights, seems like that’s exactly what America is all about right now.”

I just love the fact that businesses are finding out that, you know, what’s woke doesn’t mean that’s majority or that’s mainstream or that’s where their money comes from. And we’ve had this for a long time, the tail wagging the dog and we’re starting to see now push back on this. We’re seeing it even from a lot of banks, they’re getting so much pushback from being pro-ESG that they’re suddenly deciding, hey, that’s not a good place to be. And stocks that were pro-ESG, now they’re 25% under the Standard Poor’s index. And so they’re doing really bad, underperforming other stocks.

And so it’s just really good to see some people get a backbone and start pushing back on people who have had really uncontested free speech for a long time. Not that we oppose free speech, it’s just nice to have somebody with backbone stand up and say, yeah, there’s another side to the story and it’s not what you’ve been taught in college for the last four years. There’s a real world out here where business occurs and where those decisions do make sense. And so I just think it’s great to see again another indication that people are running out of patience with all this woke stuff that has been so marginal for so long that it seems so mainstream when it’s really not.

Rick:

Well, David, when you say free speech unchecked, basically instead of free speech, it was monopoly free speech, right, you couldn’t respond to them, you couldn’t speak truth back. It wasn’t as much free speech as it was dominant speech, you know, free speech indicates that there’s a free market there, that we can exchange ideas and we can respond to people. I think you’re 100% right. It’s so great to finally see people pushing back and countering some of this this insanity that is out there. Well, let’s get some more good news. We’ll turn it over to Tim for the next piece of good news.

Tim:

Well, this is in California, and it apparently it’s between San Diego, Tijuana, the westernmost point of the U.S. along the border of Mexico. And the headline is humorous to me, but also good news. It says “Biden to complete section of Trump Border Wall in California”. Now, I think there’s some irony in this that we know the Biden administration has done a terrible job on securing the border, on border issues in general. And so even this headline, it gives the illusion on some level that Biden’s doing a really good job or at least is taking proactive steps to really secure the border, which certainly, I would argue, is not the case.

However, it is good that on some level, any level whatsoever, somebody’s taking some steps to secure some area of the border. And so at this point, there was there were some fence up, there’s a little bit of barricade up and they said, look, we’re going to put up these really tall walls, it’s actually going to be two walls and something that will be much more difficult for people to penetrate. The article points out that right now, people actually can go and basically walk freely where you can go and talk and touch and hug your relatives from Mexico.

And again, it’s not super surprising in my mind considering some of what we have seen from some of the photos in Texas, some of the big migrant caravans that have been coming across these seemingly wide open southern border. So the good news is not a disillusioned thinking that we are solving the southern border problem.

But I am happy that anything is happening because it certainly seems like for much of the Biden administration, they have turned a blind eye and a deaf ear to this problem for maybe multiple different reasons, whether it be the idea that they are trying to recruit more Democrat votes. Because if there is more election security, then they know that they don’t really have a chance. Or if it’s part of the overturn, overthrowing of America on some level, obviously, there’s lots of problems that needs to be solved. But this is a piece of good news that they’re actually following part of the Trump plan to put up a border wall on the westernmost part of the US-Mexico border. So that is good news, certainly don’t think it’s far enough, but at least we’re taking a step in the right direction on some area.

Rick:

Alright, David, what’s our next piece of good news, sir?

David:

Well, it kind of goes back to that woke stuff I was talking about in the first story and this one deals more with comic books. Now, I’m a comic book fan. I still got a great collection of comic books. I know that comic books printed per say, that’s not really the big thing it used to be. Back in my day and Rick, probably in your day, I don’t think it was probably gone when Tim came of adulthood. I think you may have had them when you’re younger, Tim. But nonetheless, comic books were a big deal. And so whether it was Walt Disney or whether it was Marvel or whether it was DC Comics or whatever, we had all these comic books.

And so there’s been kind of a push coming back, and we’ve seen a lot of the comic books turned into super action movies and super action heroes and all the Marvel DC stuff. But then there’s been this tendency where they started becoming woke. You know, when Batman and Robin, when Robin, they had to make him bisexual, couldn’t just leave Robin anymore. He has to make a statement with something that represents a small percentage of the population. But these groups are woke.

And so some of the cartoon guys, some of the artists said, hey, why don’t we just do the old traditional super American hero good guy stands for right values and just he fights for stuff? We don’t have to make him part of the woke stuff. And so there’s a guy who actually is a contributor over Blaze TV, but he’s a good artist. And he came up with the idea for comic book and he said, I’m going to start one. I’m going to start this new comic line. And it’s called Ripperverse Comics.

And so Ripperverse Comics is out and his hero, I love his hero. I wonder where he lives. His hero is a guy named Avery Selman, who is a common Texas rancher who gains superpowers and becomes the hero named Isam. So his series is named Isam, which is about, I love the fact that Texas rancher who becomes a superhero.

So what they had done was they’re rolling this out and they have 75 days on the original campaign, and 75 days they hope to sell $100,000 worth of comics in the first 75 days. That’s their target. And that would be a really good return. What happened is on day one, they sold more than $1,000,000 of comics just on day one. And they got 74 days to go to get their 75 days, so they’re already ten times higher than what they planned for 75 days.

And again, just that response, I think there’s a real hunger among people to get back to things that just don’t have to be fringe and don’t have to be out there and pushing the edges and pushing the limits and more traditional kind of stuff. I think there’s a good market for that.

Tim:

Well, and guys, I even saw a more recent update that that is now over 1.7 million as what they have raised to this point. Because I know that article that when we pulled it, that was a couple of weeks ago. And so now literally in just the last few days, I saw another one. They said 1.7. And I can only imagine it’s continued to climb even since I saw that last number. Certainly, there is a market ready for a non-woke entertaining comic book and that’s what we’re seeing right now, where we haven’t seen a release like this in a long time on this level. So certainly, the market is ready to just be entertained and not be politicized through a comic book.

Rick:

Yeah. And it really applies to all of entertainment, right? I mean, there’s a market right now for non-woke movies, non-woke TV shows, non-woke news. I mean, everybody’s just kind of sick of having this leftist agenda pushed in all of these areas of entertainment. But this is the first time I’ve seen a comic book do this well. This is really, really good news.

Guys, let’s take a quick break, we’ll be right back. We’ve got lots more good news to share, folks. Stay with us, you’re listening to WallBuilders Live.

AMERICAN HISTORY

Hi, friends, this is Tim Barton of WallBuilders. This is a time when most Americans don’t know much about American history or even heroes of the faith. And I know oftentimes we, parents, we’re trying to find good content for our kids to read. And if you remember back to the Bible, to the book of Hebrews, it has the faith Hall of Fame where they outline the leaders of faith that had gone before them. Well, this is something that as Americans, we really want to go back and outline some of these heroes, not just of American history, but heroes of Christianity in our faith as well.

I want to let you know about some biographical sketches we have available on our website. One is called The Courageous Leaders collection. And this collection includes people like Abigail Adams, Abraham Lincoln, Francis Scott Key, George Washington Carver, Susanna Wesley, even the Wright brothers. And there’s a second collection called Heroes of History. In this collection, you’ll read about people like Benjamin Franklin or Christopher Columbus, Daniel Boone, George Washington, Harriet Tubman; friends, the list goes on and on. This is a great collection for your young person to have and read and it’s a providential view of American and Christian history. This is available at www.wallbuilders.com. That’s www.wallbuilders.com.

Rick:

We’re back here on WallBuilders Live. It’s Good News Friday today and we’ve got a lot more good news to get to. But thrilled that we’ve got comic books, we got all kinds of entertainment now coming out that’s not woke. Tim, you were saying during the break you saw good movie that was not woke, actually, even still had the patch on the back of the jacket for Taiwan.

Tim:

Yeah, it was great. I mean, when we talked about it on break, it’s something that we have seen and enjoyed. I’ve seen it actually several times with a new Top Gun movie where it was refreshingly pro-America and America wasn’t the bad guys in the movie. And it was an entertainment factor. And there’s so many fun things from the movie where the different cast actually was flying in real Air Force jets and fighters and learning and maneuvering and feeling the real geez. I mean, there were so many fun factors, but it was so refreshing.

When I went saw several times you go to a non-woke movie that just gave you that adrenaline where you had the need for speed. It was back. It was so fun. And to the point we made, there really is a market for that. And I really hope that Hollywood is taking note in the midst of all this going on, because this has performed better than anything has in a long time.

And we can even similarly talk about other shows that have come out like the terminal list on Amazon Prime from the Jack Carter Navy SEAL author, and not endorsing everything about the show or some of the profanity or violence or different things in there. But the reality was it was a non-woke series that fans fell in love with. And I hope that more and more people are realizing that there is a bigger market for non-woke then that as you mentioned, where so often we’re seeing the tail that is wagging the dog instead of vice versa. So that’s a side note.

But one thing, again, maybe speaking against some of this woke culture from Pennsylvania, this headline says that “Pennsylvania district restricts transgender students to sports aligned with sex at birth”. Now, it’s kind of a novel concept. There is a school district in Pennsylvania, actually in Lancaster County, where the board had a vote, it was 6-3. But they said, look, this is going to affect immediately and they’re going to require all athletes to play on team sports and the teams that they play on is based on their aligned gender at birth.

And so if you were a male at birth, if you were a female at birth, that’s the team you play on. They actually identified that having these separate teams on the basis of a sex preserves fairness, it provides increased opportunity for girls, it’s safer. The policy says that they want to have separate athletic teams on the basis of sex to preserve fairness, provide increased opportunity for girls, and to make it safer.

Now, what a novel idea that it’s safer for girls if they’re playing against other biological girls as opposed to a biological boy. They do say there are two exceptions though. The two exceptions they believe are reasonable accommodations is that a girl can play on a boys team. But here’s part of the exception is only if there are no girls’ teams in that sport. So girls can play up on a boys’ team, but boys can’t play in a girls’ team. It’s almost like this Title IX idea, protecting women’s sports, giving women opportunity.

But in the midst of wokeness, we’ve talked about on the local level, we are seeing businesses, we’re seeing companies and now even school districts push back on some of this wokeness with basic common sense, recognizing that yes, girls should play with other biological girls when it comes to a competitive sport, when it comes to high school. We’re not talking at the YMCA and elementary. We’re talking about varsity level sports at high schools. We’re talking about competitive sports that boys should play with boys, girls should play with boys based on the biology.

So it is refreshing to see things happen that are not aligned with the woke agenda. And so this is coming from Lancaster, Pennsylvania. So, good news from Lancaster, Pennsylvania.

Rick:

Alright. Good news out of Lancaster, Pennsylvania. What’s our next piece of good news, David?

David:

This one deals with the upcoming…

Rick:

Oh, wait! David, I got to do my best. James Carville, remember, he used to say that in Pennsylvania, you had Pittsburgh on one side and Philadelphia on the other side that would always vote Democrat. But then you had Alabama right in the middle because Lancaster, Pennsylvania vote super, super Republican. So, I mean, this is a conservative area that was doing this and it’s great that they’re giving us an example of how schools should handle this whole transgender thing. Okay. Sorry, man, go ahead. What’s our next piece of good news?

David:

Yeah, you know, they really are conservative, they are patriotic. And that’s a very God-fearing area. That’s a very religious area of the state, very traditional in so many ways. And they’re just great people there. You’re right, that’s a great part of the state. And that was a pretty good James Carville impersonation by the way. That was well done.

What I’ve got deals with the election coming up in November. And in November, as we have the election, right now a lot of it is based on people’s perceptions. Because even when people go vote, a lot of people are not highly informed voters. They go on what they’re seeing or what they’ve heard on news or what kind of perceptions there are.

And right now, one of the factors that will have an impact on this election is how Biden is perceived by people. And right now, his polling numbers are really what are called underwater. And underwater simply means that when you ask people in the state, do you approve or disapprove of Biden, what he’s done? His disapproval numbers are higher than his approval numbers. So that’s called underwater.

Now, what’s interesting is right now, Biden is underwater in 47 of the 50 states, which what that has a tendency to do is loyal Democrats will say, I don’t like what he’s doing. I’m not going to vote this time. So it’s like giving a Republican a half a vote, every one of those folks that don’t stay home. So their vote would cancel out a Republican vote. But by not staying there, you pick up about a half a vote. So a significant if people stay home. It’s also significant for people that are what are considered independents. They look at both parties and they make their choice and they’re not liking what they see from Biden. So, that’s going to have an effect in independents, in how they vote for Senate, how they vote for things like Congress, etc.

But I’ll just point out with the possibility that they’re going to be a whole lot of liberals who don’t vote this time. This is a better time for picking up a lot of things like school boards and city council and state representative and state senates, those down ballot races that don’t get a lot of attention, this is a really good time to be aware of them because generally this is what’s called an off year election anyway. You have your presidential elections, which has the highest turnout.

And for the last 11 presidential elections, the average turnout is about 54%. So you’re looking even at a presidential election as high as it was with Biden and Trump, the average for the last 11 presidential elections is 54%. But when you drop to an off year election, which is when you don’t elect president, it drops to about 38% of voters. So that’s a significant drop.

If conservatives will show up and say, I just don’t care who runs, I only care about president; if they’ll show up and vote, they will win some sheriff races, they’ll win state rep races, they’ll win city council mayor races, they haven’t even thought about winning. And so it’s really significant. Now, having said that, Biden is underwater in 47 out of 50 states, my question to you guys is, what are the three states where Biden has a higher approval than he has disapproval?

Rick:

Higher approval, three states he has higher approval and disapproval, I would think his home state, Delaware.

David:

You would miss if you thought that.

Rick:

Wow, seriously. His own home state, underwater in his home state underwater. And that’s a liberal state.

David:

That’s a liberal state.

Tim:

And I think in fairness, right, it’s in the mid-forties where he’s underwater. Dad, I was reading my next article, I didn’t hear everything you said. But we definitely have a much higher percentage of guessing one where he’s underwater than above water if there’s only three men. I mean, you always feel like New York and California are relatively safe guesses because of how liberal they are, Vermont …

David:

And neither one of those are safe guesses in this list.

Tim:

No, I mean Vermont, thinking with Bernie Sanders.

David:

Now there’s one. You got one there. Vermont is one of the three.

Tim:

Okay. Massachusetts is pretty liberal these days as well.

David:

That’s two of the three.

Tim:

Oh, man. Okay, then, Rick, I’ve done my job. I’ve found two of the three.

Rick:

Connecticut.

David:

Connecticut’s not it.

Rick:

Oh, man, I’m…

David:

Don’t think in terms of continental of the United States.

Tim:

Hawaii.

David:

There you go, Hawaii.

Rick:

DC.

David:

DC is not a state. Despite the fact they would like to be, that’s not a state, Rick. So D.C. doesn’t count.

Rick:

But they have Electoral College votes. Okay, you’re right. You’re right.

David:

So it’s Vermont, it’s Massachusetts, and it’s Hawaii: the only three states where Biden has more approval than he has disapproval in the states, and that’s among voters.

Rick:

He’s an albatross around the neck of the Democrats. I mean, that has to be. What’s their plan? How do they deal with this?

David:

Now it’s a problem for them. And now, granted, they have a lot of money. And when they start spending money, as we get closer to elections, they’re going to make the Republicans look like they’re their witches from hell and whatever. You know, they can make them look bad and so they’ll try to depress the Republican vote and get Republicans to stay home rather than turn out. And they will put a lot of money into making their guys look really good and making you forget Biden and look at the House and look at the Senate and look at all these other things. So they’re going to do a great job of being the magician that says, watch my right hand while the left hand is doing all the stuff that we should be watching.

Now, the other question I got for you guys is what are the three states where Biden is most underwater?

Rick:

So maybe red states, but I don’t know. Actually, the last question…

Tim:

Yeah. Where is Biden the most disliked? Oh, well, we have 40+ something choices of where it could be.

Rick:

Yeah, I’m going to say Arkansas.

David:

You got 47 that are certainly negative. He’s underwater in 47. And the three states that approve of him the least?

Tim:

So generally, Arkansas, Florida, Oklahoma, Idaho seem to be very conservative states.

David:

Yeah, they are, but they’re not nearly as conservative as these three.

Tim:

Okay. Hang on. States more conservative than Florida, Arkansas, Oklahoma and Idaho?

Rick:

How about North Dakota?

David:

North Dakota, you got one of them.

Rick:

And I finally got one! I finally got one  Everybody pause for a moment. Okay. Let’s see. North Dakota, Wyoming.

David:

Wyoming, you got two. That’s two.

Rick:

Really?

Tim:

No, he took it back. It doesn’t count. It doesn’t count.

David:

And this is a former blue state. The third one is a former blue state. It was blue ten years ago.

Rick:

Really? Wow. Well, it’s not going to be South Dakota then. Not going to be…

David:

I’ll have to give, it is West Virginia.

Rick:

Oh, wow. Seriously? West Virginia that sends a Democrat member of the U.S. Senate?

David:

Yeah. And they have the least like for… Now what do you think the approval number? Wyoming is the least like for Biden. He’s most underwater there. What do you think his approval number is there? And what do you think his disapproval number is.

Tim:

His approval number, I would think, is in the teens in Wyoming.

Rick:

Yeah.

David:

It is, 16. So 16%, one out of six Wyoming folks think he’s doing a good job and the negatives are 78%. So it’s 16 to 78, that’s how far underwater he is. But that’s a 50 states. And this is why it’s an opportunity to pick up a lot of ground in this election in states like that especially. If you will get out and run for state rep or state senator or you run for school board or something, man, this is the climate in which you can make a lot of local gains. So people, do not sit home this election: this is a chance to really make something different.

Rick:

Yeah.

Tim:

And dad, even as you were saying for people maybe to get involved and run, well, in some cases we don’t need seven and eight people running in the election. In some cases, we need to get involved and support the good people who are running. If there is no good people, then yes, maybe you need to run. But definitely, this is the time to get involved in the process to help move the ball down the field, to preserve liberty, freedom, to preserve the Bill of Rights, to preserve our inalienable rights. This is an important time to get involved.

Rick:

Yeah. Good stuff, guys. I mean, that right there is just general good news for the whole nation. And imagine the good news that we’ll have to share after the election if everybody does exactly what you’re suggesting right here. I mean, the good news will just keep coming. It’ll continue to be a wonderful thing to share.

So we’re out of time for today’s good news, but we’ll have more for you next week. Be sure and check out the website today at wallbuilderslive.com. Thanks so much for listening to WallBuilders Live.
