Rick:

You have found your way to WallBuilders Live. This is the intersection of faith and the culture. This is the place where we talk about the hot topics of the day, but from a biblical, historical, and constitutional perspective. Thank you so much for joining us today.

I’m Rick Green, former Texas legislator, and America’s Constitution coach. And I’m joined by David Barton, America’s premier historian and our founder at WallBuilders, and Tim Barton, national speaker and pastor and president of WallBuilders. You can learn more about all three of us at that website wallbuilderslive.com, and that’s also the place where you can make that one-time or monthly donation. It helps us to spread the word, get on more stations, speak more truth, equip more people, equip citizens to be biblical citizens in modern America, and have a positive influence in their communities. And if you’d like to be the catalyst for a restoration of biblical values and constitutional principles right there in your neighborhood, then become one of our Constitution coaches and teach that biblical citizenship class. You can find out more at our website today.

And then the last thing I want to recommend to you, in just a few days we’re going to have, I say, a few days, it’s going to be about two weeks from now, we’re going to have an amazing event in Fort Worth, Texas, and I want to invite you to be a part of that. If you go to patriotacademy.com/fundraiser, or just go to patriotacademy.com, and it’s right there, you can click on the homepage as well, we’re going to be launching our fundraising efforts to build a campus in Texas for Patriot Academy, a chance to bring young people in for one year at a time instead of one week at a time and really train them in biblical worldview and constitutional governance, and leadership skills, all of those things. And you can be a part of launching that.

Go to that website today patriotacademy.com. You can sponsor the event. Even if you can’t come in for the event, please consider sponsoring the event. We really appreciate your support on that. It’s really exciting to see this incredible growth in interest in all of these things and we have the answers. The Bible gives us all the answers to everything that’s happening in the culture, and we’re raising up and training those leaders to pick up the rubble from this crumbling culture and rebuild for liberty and rebuild with a biblical worldview. Again, patriotacademy.com to learn more, it’s September 17th and 18th. We’ll have the dinner on the 17th. And then on the 18th, Tim Barton is going to take us through the American journey experience. It’s going to be amazing. Learn more at patriotacademy.com.

Alright, David, and Tim, I know you got a lot of good news to get to. In fact, somebody emailed me the other day and said, why don’t you just make good news every day of the week so David and Tim can finish their attack. So I know we’re not going to be able to do that, but let’s dive in. David, you got the first piece of good news?

David:

Well, I love what’s going on in the country as far as an awakening goes. The more crazy the country seems to get, the more woke they get, the more people are pushing back. We’re seeing in school boards across the country. We’re seeing the city councils. We’re seeing states dealing with CRT and all these things that people are just standing up and saying, no, are you kidding me? This is crazy. And so we’re seeing that now start to express itself on the political level.

And so I’ve got a couple articles here I really loved. One deals with Herschel Walker. Herschel Walker, pro-football player, Rick, did you watch Herschel Walker when you were growing up? I think it’s before…

Rick:

No, you bet I did, absolutely. Yeah, when he came and played for the Cowboys.

David:

Tim, I think is before Tim’s time, but…

Tim:

How long ago was that, boys?

Rick:

Yeah. We’re not saying.

David:

Yeah, we’re not saying. But I mean, that was the biggest blockbuster. What, Cowboys gave like a dozen guys to get Herschel, it was some megatrade. And so Herschel comes in and he just ran over everybody for years. But Herschel Walker is now running for US Senate in Georgia against Raphael Warnock who’s the minister…

Rick:

I love it.

David:

I’m loving this. Raphael is so far Left. And just to have Herschel Walker, he has always been such a common-sense guy. He was defending Trump. So you know, here’s an African American defending Trump.

Rick:

In fact, some of our listeners, yeah, and for those who didn’t watch him play football may not know who he is. He did speak at the convention last summer, gave a killer speech. It was fantastic. So you might remember him from that. But yeah, I mean, you talk about popular in Georgia, because he went to Georgia, so he’s a Georgia Bulldog. And so you know, he’s loved all over that state. This is going to be an exciting race.

David:

It’s going to be really excited. And I think he’s got a good chance of getting it. He is so well-liked, so popular, such a nice guy. So, just so well-spoken, such a great business guy. I’m really excited about that. That’s probably what I’m going to contribute to. Even though I’m in Texas, he’s not my Senator, I would love to have him in the Senate.

And along that same lines, you got Jay Cutler, who’s running for office, and Jay Cutler, now I’m not as much a fan of Jay Cutler because he’s AFC and I am NFC and etc. But nonetheless, Jay Cutler, really good quarterback. I think he was out of Vanderbilt. But he’s looking at running for school board in Tennessee in a little town south of Nashville. And he’s just seeing what’s happening there with the mask and other things and you’ve had some really pretty notable players.

One of the FOX contributors and a guy who runs Outkick The Coverage, he was at the school board meeting and they’re saying we’re going to mask all the kids and he said, no, wait a minute. He said, here’s the deal: you’re more likely the kids under 25 are going to be struck by lightning or more likely dive seasonal flu. You’re not masking them for seasonal flu. You’re not masking them for lightning? So why are you masking them for COVID? I mean, he just goes on and on. And he says this is just common sense, you’re not using common sense.

And so when they asked Jay Cutler what platform is he going to run on? He said, I’m running on the platform of common sense, clearly referencing what had happened there. So this is really cool that you got some really big stars saying, hey, it’s time to get involved and turn the direction the country back in a common-sense direction. Really excited about this.

Rick:

And David, if I could throw in there as well on back to Herschel Walker, I mean, I’ve been following him on social media for the last year, because talking about common sense and just good conservative values and responding to all the things that have happened, so I’m like you, he’s one of the few outside of Texas that I’m going to donate too as well. Really, really exciting.

And I’ll just add, listen, guys, we’ve got two Patriot Academy grads running for congress, one, Ciscomani in Arizona, super conservative guy, amazing family. He’s been working with Doug Ducey in his inner circle for the last five or six years, they run our Patriot Academy out there, has a really good shot at winning that congressional seat. And one of our military veteran grads, Alan Sims is running over in Alabama. So it’s kind of neat to see how many people are responding. That’s for Congress. We got tons of our folks running for school board and city council. It’s going to be fun to watch this kind of revolution of ballots that’s going to happen over the next year or so.

David:

Really excited.

Rick:

Good to see. And hopefully, that gives people hope at home because they’ve been looking for some good campaigns to get involved in as well. Alright, Tim, what’s our next piece of good news?

Tim:

Alright, guys, this one is dealing with something that happened in Missouri. And the headline says “47 victims rescued, 102 arrested in multi-state human trafficking operation”. There were 12 states that got together and were dealing with a human trafficking operation ring. The 12 states were Missouri, Illinois, Iowa, Kentucky, Minnesota, Nebraska, North Dakota, Oklahoma, Tennessee, Texas, Wisconsin, and South Dakota. And this operation was led by the Missouri Attorney General’s office, the Missouri State Highway Patrol, but they worked with different groups in these different states. And they go through and identify the victims they rescued. And the arrests are made in each one of these states.

And again, guys, as we’re seeing so much chaos happening in the world, and there’s a lot of chaos happening in the world, there’s a reason for that, there’s a reason we should be vigilant and prayer. With all that being said, there’s still a lot of really good things happening. And the people being rescued out of those human trafficking scenarios and situations is so great.

Also, worth pointing out that we’ve made mentioned many times when people talk about slavery or human trafficking issues, and especially when they look in America, and the 1619 Project or critical race theory talks about how bad America was because of slavery, one of the points that we consistently make is slavery is not a thing of the past for most of the world. Most of the world still is open to this notion of slavery. And I’m saying most as far as some of the biggest nations and the widest-reaching nations of the world be included in that. I think just the specific number. There’s probably less than half of the nations of the world that are still open to slavery on some level. Nonetheless, it’s still an active happening thing.

And we’ve seen this even in America, where sex slavery, where human trafficking happens in America, is a terrible thing and needs to end. But the good news is, there was an operation where they did rescue, and even more significantly, they arrested a lot of these people so they cannot continue to perpetuate those same crimes.

Another piece of good news. This one says “Texas City Votes to Ban Abortion, Becomes 37th Nationwide to Protect Unborn Children”. So we have seen a growing number of cities come together. This one is the Brownsboro city council, they voted to an ordinance that would protect unborn babies by banning abortion within city limits. And this is something that as I was mentioning, we’ve seen a lot of cities around the nation begin to do this, a lot in Texas have gone and done this. And so Brownsboro is yet another one in Texas. I’ve got some more articles dealing with pro-life issues in Texas, dealing with the state legislature getting some anti-abortion stuff passed. But also for second, dad, I know, you have another one ready to go.

David:

Well, I want to go to someone named Naomi Wolf. Now you have to go back before the time that Tim would remember this…

Rick:

Clinton Gore.

David:

Yes. Thank you very much. Naomi Wolf-Clinton Gore, you got it exactly right. And she was part of that administration. It’s interesting she sounds like one of us right now, because she is so ticked over big tech censorship. She’s a journalist, and she’s not on the side of Fauci and what’s going on. And so she’s ticked because here she is national media correspondent. And she had the stuff banned because her husband simply read the resume of Dr. Ralph Baric, who received US government funding to conduct Gain-of-function research, talking about Gain-of-function got him banned for reading the resume of the guests they had.

And then she was banned after uploading a press release that came from an Oregon senator who had a bill that would ban vaccine passports. So for simply reading that press release, she got banned. And then she goes through all these other occasions where she’s been banned for simply reporting on the news, for simply reading a press release or quoting what an elected official said, she’s getting banned.

And so she’s just really upset over this: singling out people. She doesn’t like the fact that people are now self-censoring because of big tech, and what big tech is doing. So it’s interesting to have what would be considered a liberal progressive voice from a previous Democrat administration, joining all the conservative voices saying this is really bad.

I guess it’s not that surprising because I’m holding here, a recent poll that says 81% of Americans believe that big tech and social media companies are too powerful, and 73% of Americans are convinced that they should be regulated and broken up. Now, interestingly, of all the companies out there big tech companies, who do you think is the least popular with Americans? What would you say?

Tim:

Of all the big tech companies?

David:

Of all the big tech names that we’re used to hearing every day.

Tim:

The least popular?

David:

Least popular.

Tim:

Twitter.

David:

Twitter. Only 13% of Americans like Twitter. So…

Tim:

And just 13%!

David:

13%.

Tim:

Wow.

David:

The highest number, who has the highest favorability of all the big tech companies?

Rick:

It can’t be Facebook. Don’t tell me it’s Facebook.

David:

It’s not Facebook

Tim:

No. I mean, I’m thinking probably Amazon.

David:

Google.

Tim:

Was Amazon on the list?

David:

Amazon did not show up as either the high or the low.

Tim:

That’s only reason they’re not the highest in the list, because most people are shopping on Amazon. But okay, so the ones listed, Google makes sense.

David:

Google and they’re the highest rated. Do you know what their high rating is? What percentage of people?

Tim:

40%

David:

27%.

Tim:

Wow!

David:

So your highest-rated media company is 27% favorable, Google. Your lowest is Twitter, 13%. People just really don’t like what’s happening with it. And so they really want to see this busted up and broken up. And that’s good news because that starts pushing political people to do something that’ll start pushing lawsuits and judges, everything else. It’s really good to see the people unified over something like this.

Rick:

Yeah, David, I’ll add to the Naomi Wolf good news. You know, Alex Berenson, New York Times reporter, certainly not a conservative, he’s a liberal in the more classical sense of liberal, same thing, got kicked off of Twitter, and he simply been reporting. He’s simply been giving the facts all throughout COVID and now has a permanent banned from Twitter.

I think it’s creating this really unique coalition out there of people like us that are conservative, constitutional Christian, kind of folks, and then some of these more liberal, maybe even libertarian on the other side of things, I mean, anybody that has any love of free speech and the ability to speak and debate and sees how dangerous these things are, regardless of whether they’re Democrat, Republican, Conservative, or Liberal, is joining this coalition. And that’s actually a healthy thing, very good.

David:

It is really an interesting coalition because Naomi Wolf is talking about all the journalists that are contacting her, that they’ve been censored as well, and they’re changing their stories, and they don’t like doing that. And the other thing that’s interesting is among the people, the polling among the people, the largest group that supports breaking up these companies is because they don’t like the censorship of content. The second largest group that wants to break up these companies is because these companies are using private information and private data. They’re getting this off the social media from these people, and they don’t like their privacy being compromised. So that’s two really huge issues that are driving people to want to see a change. And both of those are positive reasons.

Rick:

Guys, quick break, we’ll be back, we’ve got more good news for you, folks. So stay with us, you’re listening to WallBuilders Live.

THE AMERICAN STORY

Hey, guys, we want to let you know about a new resource we have here at WallBuilders called The American Story. For years, people have been asking us to do a history book, and we finally done it. We start with Christopher Columbus and go roughly through Abraham Lincoln. And one of the things that so often we hear today are about the imperfections of America, or how so many people in America that used to be celebrated or honored really aren’t good or honorable people.

One of the things we acknowledge quickly in the book is that the entire world is full of people who are sinful and need a savior because the Bible even tells us that all have sinned and fallen short of the glory of God. And yet what we see through history, and certainly is evident in America is how a perfect God uses imperfect people and does great things through them. The story of America is not the story of perfect people. But you see time and time again how God got involved in the process and use these imperfect people to do great things that impacted the entire world from America. To find out more, go to wallbuilders.com and check out The American Story.

Rick:

Welcome back to WallBuilders Live. Thanks for staying with us on this Good News Friday. Let’s dive right back in. Tim’s got the next piece of good news.

Tim:

Alright, guys, there are two articles out of Texas dealing with the same thing. Both of this is pending based on a judicial hearing coming up. And this one is back in 2017, the Texas legislature passed a law dealing with a heartbeat ban on abortion, it’s a six-week ban on abortion. And once it was a heartbeat, there could not be abortions. And initially, there was a single district judge in Austin who struck this down.

Now, we have talked guys many times off-air, probably some on the air about how in Austin, there was this really deep swamp and one of the things that strategically, and Rick, you can speak to this probably better since you were actually part of the state legislature, is that in Austin they would challenge…

Rick:

Not part of the swamp, but part of the legislature. Yeah. No, I’m just kidding. I was in the swamp, not of the swamp.

Tim:

There you go. But right, there would be attorneys, there’ll be judges in Austin who would challenge some of the legislation that would come out, and you’d have a really liberal judge in Austin who would strike it down. Even if the legislation was at times, specifically dealing with other parts of the state, they would challenge it in Austin, because they would say, well, this is where the law originated, therefore, we have the right to challenge it here. And they would use these really liberal Austin judges to strike down these really positive, conservative, biblical, constitutional, whatever things are being done.

Well, this one, there was a district judge in Austin that challenged it, that struck it down. It was an appealed to the Fifth Circuit Court, which now is a conservative court. But it was appeal to a three-judge panel. And the three-judge panel sided with this judge in Austin. However, the entire Fifth Circuit, all 17 judges have agreed to hear this case. And so depending on the outcome of this case, this could be something that is supposed to go into effect this fall. And depending on what happens with this judicial panel, we will have more information. But we’re on the verge of Texas could become one of the very first states ever to have abortion ban once there’s a heartbeat, so heartbeat ban on abortion.

David:

And I’ll tell you this is even better than that. Because 12 states have done this and all of the 12 states had been struck down. Texas is the first one to stand, which makes it very possible this will end up at the Supreme Court, which is where we want to see this eventually get. So the fact that Texas has gone against the rest of the nation on this issue is really good news.

Tim:

Well, guys, here’s another piece of good news from Alabama. And this was the Alabama Board of Education banning the teaching of critical race theory in their schools. And this happened earlier in August. On August 12th is when the board voted and approved and it was 7-2 votes. And wouldn’t you know it? It was completely along party lines. There were seven Republicans on the board who said yeah, we’re not teaching that, two Democrats who said we have to teach it.

And what they identified was it was material to indoctrinate students in social or political ideologies that promote one race or sex above another. And here’s part of what they released in their resolution that was approved. It says “The Alabama State Board of Education believes that all individuals are endowed with equal and inalienable rights without respect to race or sex. Concepts that impute fault, blame, a tendency to oppress others or the need to feel guilt or anguish to persons solely based on their race or sex violate the premise of individual rights, equal opportunity, and individual merit.” Guys, one of the really good things about this…

David:

Two Democrats voted against, that all men are created equal, that all races are equal.

Tim:

Well, they usually feel shame or anguish because of the color of your skin. Yes, that’s part of the resolution they voted against. Now, with that being said, we understand this is a very political divisive issue for some people. Because if you are embracing Marxism or socialism, this is something that you care and you want to teach and promote critical race theory. You want to do things that would bring the further destruction to this nation.

But also, one of the things we’ve talked about the really good news from this Alabama Board of Education resolution was they didn’t just say we’re banning critical race theory, they define specifically what it is that we’re not going to do. We’re not going to tell kids that because the color of your skin you’re oppressed or because the color of your skin you’re an oppressor. We’re going to treat all kids equally with equal rights, but opportunity, etc. It is a really, really positive resolution. So, kudos to those board members in Alabama. And it looks like at least on some level, the education system in Alabama is making some good decisions.

Rick:

Alright, all good news. Now, David, your turn, man, let’s see how much of your stack we can get through.

David:

Well, we’ve already been talking about some interesting coalitions being formed, like Naomi wolf joining with conservatives over censorship and free speech, etc. And we’ve seen what’s going on Afghanistan in recent weeks, the fiasco that’s gone there, and we’ve seen how that there’s been so many attacks on America, how flawed America is, inherently flawed. Tim just had the critical race theory thing that as part of all that woke stuff about how bad America is.

And one of the people who recently came out defending America and it just literally makes my jaw drop is Bill Maher, HBO. And so Bill Maher is a noted open atheist. He is extremely liberal, progressive liberal, and now he’s taken on progressive liberals over their hatred of America. This is so good. I’m just going to read part of this article because I just like what he said. I mean, he just was spot on. Here’s the article.

It says “Comedian and political pundit Bill Maher, the left-leaning personality who these days seems to find himself more and more at odds with his progressive compatriots, he’s telling leftists in America, ‘have a little perspective’, when they voiced their disdain for their country. Maher’s monologue was inspired by the Taliban’s brutal murder of a Kandahar police officer and social media comedian who went by the stage name Khasha Zwan, they forced him into a car, tortured him, and then executed him.” “A comedian”, he said, “nothing like that hits a little close to home for me.”

Real Time with Bill Maher host went on to say that although he’s faced plenty of opposition from politicians in the US, namely presidents George W. Bush and Donald Trump, he has never feared for his life. “Neither experience was pleasant”, he said, “but I have no worry about being dragged out till I’m dead behind a Toyota Tacoma. Have a little perspective about the stuff we howl about here.” Maher then listed stats from several countries to prove his point about just how well off those living in America are. And I love this part of it. This was so good.

He said, “He said, I’m sorry, your professor said something you didn’t like. That won’t be a problem with the Taliban because you’re not allowed to go to school. In Saudi Arabia, grown women can be jailed for doing the kind of things we think of as a routine without the permission of a male guardian. China round you up if you’re the wrong religion and puts you in camps. More children in Burkina Faso work than are in school. Only 5% of Burundians have electricity. The homicide rate in Honduras is eight times what we have here. The inflation rate in Venezuela is 2,719%. The Philippines in the last five year has put to death 27,000 low-level drug dealers. My old job”, he said. “In North Korea, people starve to death. The only people who starve here are doing it for a role. And the only people who have no water live in California.”

And he just goes on and goes on and goes on. He said “Have you ever heard of honor killings, public beheadings, throwing gay men off of roofs, arranged marriages to minors, state-sanctioned wife-beating, female genital mutilation, marriage by capture? What’s the lesson of Afghanistan? Maybe said everyone from the giant dorm room and the whining session they have is that the internet should take a good look at what real oppression looks like. No one here in America tries to escape by hanging onto an airplane.” I thought that is just some of the best rhetoric I’ve heard in a long time. And good job for him. And there’s so many things we disagree on. But again, Americans are starting to get unified and less polarized, which is really good.

Tim:

Yeah, guys, this is one of the encouraging things not that we agree with Bill Maher on hardly any positions whatsoever. But when even Bill Maher is coming out saying yeah, woke people you’re going too far, it’s one of the things that we are seeing. And we’ve talked about the Left overplayed their hand so often.

And one of the things even under the Biden administration, where this woke agenda being promoted, when you look even at the debacle in Afghanistan, the day of the bombing you had, was the Pentagon, somebody high up in the military, one of the military leaders who was posting about diversity inside the military right before the bombing went off. And what you’re seeing is that there are people who in this woke ideology care so much about the way less significant details when it comes to the reality of what the military is for or the goodness of America.

The notion that there are people out there saying, yeah, but America is not perfect, of course, America is not perfect. No nation is perfect. And as people who study a lot of history, we can tell you America’s imperfections better than most people can’t. We know so many of those disasters, so many of those grievances, and we can identify many of those specific individuals who encouraged and promoted those tragedies that took place.

We know America is not perfect. And yet we also can point out America has done more to be a force for good than any other nation in the history of the world. America has consistently led the fight around the world for equality, around the world helping to fight and put an end to slavery. America has been a beacon of light around the world. It’s a reason that America to this day has an immigration problem.

And no, it’s not just because President Biden or his administration are not securing the southern border. That is absolutely part of it. But the reason that people want to come to America is because they recognize America still as a good nation, as a beacon of hope. And there were people like Bill Maher who guys, for the last several years, Bill Maher has not been on our side in many regards. And now he’s seeing the woke agenda being unfolded and unfurled in front of him. And many people, Bill Maher included are now realizing this has gone a lot further than I realized that I wanted.

And so this is not an article I have in front of me. But guys, to me, this is a really good piece of news that Americans are waking up and they’re fed up with this woke ideology, and this bashing of America, and they’re now beginning to rally and unify around things that can help restore those traditional things in America. That people are now again, concerned and caring about the Constitution more than we’ve ever seen before. Rick, I know that in your Constitution classes and your biblical citizenship, you’ve seen incredible numbers, and these Constitution coaches that are growing like crazy because people are caring more than they’ve ever cared before about this nation.

Rick:

It’s super, super exciting to see. Yeah, guys, we’ve had 50,000 people go through the Biblical Citizenship in Modern America and the other Constitution classes in just the last few months, I mean, let the last seven months, it’s huge and it just keeps growing exponentially. So be encouraged out there. Man, people are hungry. There’s a lot of good news, folks, for you to celebrate and be excited about. We got a ton more good news to share. But we are at a time for today, so we’ll be sharing that next Friday. You can get other programs at our website wallbuilderslive.com. We sure appreciate you listening to WallBuilders Live.
