David, Tim, it’s Good News Friday. I’m looking forward to it. I know you guys have got a whole stack to go through. We’ll see how fast we can get through some of them. David, start us off.

David:

I’m going to start with looking back. Just a few days ago we had Easter. So, we celebrate Easter, Easter and Passover, those two go together. In the Bible, Jesus was celebrating Passover that’s when the crucifixion and resurrection happened, during that time. So, that time of Passover/Easter is a really, really, big time in the biblical calendar, in the biblical holidays.

President Trump”€™s Easter Address

I want to go back, as part of good news, to the presidential address that President Trump gave for Easter/Passover. Listen to what he said,

“€œMy fellow Americans, at this holy time of the year families across our nation gather in homes, churches, and synagogues, to light candles and to praise God. During the sacred holiday of Passover, Jewish families around the world give thanks to God for liberating the Jewish people from bondage in Egypt and delivering them to the Promised Land of Israel. For Christians, we remember the suffering and death of God’s only Son and His glorious resurrection on the third day. On Easter Sunday we proclaim with joy Christ is risen.

“€œBoth of these sacred celebrations remind us that God’s love redeems the world. Almost 3000 years ago the prophet Isaiah wrote, “€˜Darkness covers the earth, but the Lord rises upon you and His glory appears over you. For the Lord will be your everlasting light.”€™ In America we look to the light of God to guide our steps. We trust in the power of the Almighty for wisdom and strength. And we praise our Heavenly Father for the blessings of freedom and the gift of eternal life. Happy Passover. Happy Easter. Thank you. God bless you and God bless America.”€

That’s the president of the United States. And this is the president we didn’t expect it from, so listen to the words. His Easter address was just as strong as the pope’s address. He said, “€œFor Christians, we remember the suffering and death of God’s only Son and His glorious resurrection on the third day. With Easter Sunday we proclaim with joy Christ is risen.”€ That is unequivocal. That is strong stuff coming from the president of the United States.

Rick:

Wow. Man, every time he does something like that I can’t help but think about everybody didn’t expect this from him. And even, I’ve been reading through the Founders Bible and I’m in Jeremiah and that part of the Old Testament and Nebuchadnezzar, right, and how people didn’t expect him, but God said, “€œThat’s My guy. That’s the guy I chose to do these things. He’s the one I’ve decided is going to go do all of this.”€

And, David, I remember you even telling us that after the election, “€œHey, we missed it. We didn’t see what God was doing.”€ Now look 15 months later, 16 months, whatever it’s been, at all the good things that have come from God given us a reprieve with Donald Trump as president of the United States.

God Used Them to do Great Things

Tim:

Yeah, Rick, I think it’s interesting thought with Nebuchadnezzar because certainly God used someone that most people did not look at and think, “€œthis is God’s person.”€ But if you really study Scripture, so many of the people God use are people we would never have as pastors of our church. But God used them to do great things. And certainly, they are absolutely imperfect people, which, I guess, arguably all of us are imperfect people that God has chosen to love and use. And so, really, we’re no different in the fact that we all need God’s grace, we all need a Savior.

But when you look at things, the blemishes, or tarnishes, on someone’s record, or resume, or life, certainly no one looked at Trump and thought, “€œThis guy is going to be a defender of the Faith, a defender of Christianity. He’s going to promote religious freedom.”€ There’s a lot of positive elements we never saw coming. Certainly, there’s some baggage that’s come with them, there’s things we can look at and think are not the greatest. But this is not an area we ever thought we’d be talking about on Good News Friday. We never would’ve expected Donald Trump to have an Easter message as strong as the pope’s. That’s pretty amazing.

Rick:

No doubt. We”€™ve got to take a quick break, guys. When we come back we’ll get to some of your other good news stories. Stay with us, folks. It’s Good News Friday here on WallBuilders Live.

The National Bible Bee

Imagine memorizing 955 verses from the Bible in just a few months. How about a hundred thousand dollar prize money? You combine those two and you get the National Bible Bee competition. You can sign your kids up now for them to compete or just to learn and memorize so many verses from the Bible.

The National Bible Bee discovery journal, the competition, the summer study, there are so many great tools for you and your family. It’s a great opportunity to memorize God’s word, to study God’s word, and to see young people getting God’s word into their heart, into their minds, into their souls. It’s just so exciting.

I’ve had the privilege of MCing and being part of the National Bible Bee. David Barton has been the keynote speaker at the Bible Bee. We greatly appreciate what they do at the National Bible Bee and we support their efforts. We encourage you to check it out. The website is very simple, it’s BibleBee.org, that”€™s BibleBee.org. Now is the time to sign up. You”€™ve only got a few weeks left, so go to BibleBee.org, get signed up, and get your kids participating in the National Bible Bee.

“€œJohn 5:33-40, “€˜You have sent it to John and he has borne witness to the truth. I do not receive testimony from man, but I say these things that you may be saved. He was the burning and shining lamp and you were willing for a time to rejoice in his light. But I have a greater witness than John’s. For the works which the Father has given Me to finish, the very works that I do, bear witness of Me that the Father has sent Me. And the Father Himself who sent Me, has testified of Me.

“You have neither heard His voice at any time, nor seen His form. But you do not have His word abiding in you because whom He has sent Him you do not believe. You search the scriptures for in them you think you have eternal life and these are they which testify of Me. But you are not willing to come to Me that you may have life.”€™ John 5:33-40.”€

Rick:

Well, go back to WallBuilders Live. That was Christa Miller, 11 years old, that was all recitation from memory at the Bible Bee, just an amazing event. Check out it out at BibleBee.org. David– in fact, you keynoted the Bible Bee, what, two years ago or so and you talked about how important memorizing scripture was to you when you were a kid. How it helped you build that muscle, but also got God’s word into your heart.

This is Really Key

David:

Yeah it is really key. And when you read the Bible God puts a big emphasis on putting His word in your own heart. Which means you have to memorize it. You can put it in your eyes by reading it, but the way you put it in your heart is you have to meditate on it, you have to ingest it, you have to internalize it, you have to memorize it. And so memory is the key. And that is why you’ll find that, particularly in the Jewish faith, they have young people memorize the book of Deuteronomy, and particularly the *shema, the three chapters that go around Deuteronomy 6.

There is so much to Bible memory and that”€™s something you find also that we did heavily in American education for well over two centuries. Our founding fathers also display remarkable amounts of of Bible memorization as they do their speeches and other things. So, it’s something we used to do in America that we don’t put much emphasis on now. Progressives began to tell us, “€œMemorization is so dull, it”€™s so boring, nobody enjoys that. Let’s do something different.”€

With memorization comes all that goes with application, and learning, and implementation of what you know. So, memorization is really key and the Bible Bee is a really, really, great way of doing that. And the competitions they have with young people every year, remarkable amounts of memory work.

Rick:

Yeah, a lot of good news just in watching those kids recite. It’s phenomenal. Really enjoyed the times that I’ve been able to witness that firsthand and thrilled to be able to share that with our listeners today.

Alright, guys, what’s our next piece of good news? Tim?

Tennessee Defunding Planned Parenthood

Tim:

Alright, guys, this one is from Tennessee. And Tennessee has joined many other states that have made this move and they’ve passed a bill to defund Planned Parenthood abortions. So, something that we’ve talked often about on the Good News Friday is all of the pro-life legislation coming out of so many states. So many states moving the direction that they want to defund Planned Parenthood. And so we’ve seen a lot of progress. This was something that was overwhelmingly passed lopsided vote in the House – it was 74 in favor, 15 against, one abstention. In the Senate it was 25 in favor, one against, one abstention.

And so certainly not even close in Tennessee, but it’s another state moving that direction saying, when we do our state funding we don’t want to fund a “€œwomen’s health facility”€ that spends so much of their operation conducting abortion. So, really cool to see Tennessee going that direction and preserving innocent life. Wanting to fund women’s health organizations that actually focus on and emphasize women’s health and not the murder of the unborn. So, Tennessee is just one more of those states who’s added to that list now.

Rick:

It seems like almost every Friday we have something on this and it seems like it’s always going the right direction. In other words, I haven’t– all these states that have decreased funding to Planned Parenthood, or completely cut it off, Planned Parenthood clinics closing. Have we seen any growth for them anywhere in the country? Are the more liberal states, more pro abortion states, seeing growth with Planned Parenthood or are they shrinking everywhere?

Tim:

So, yeah, that’s a great question. The reason we really haven’t covered it is because that’s not part of Good News Friday.

Rick:

That would be bad news Friday.

New Planned Parenthood Facilities?

Tim:

Right, yeah, we don’t always cover that, but there actually are only, I think there’s only two states, it might be three, that I read about new Planned Parenthood facilities opening. But sometimes even the new ones that are opening they consolidated two or three in other places so they moved to one central location. So, they’ve opened a new one, but in opening the new one they don’t count, necessarily, for the couple other locations are closed down.

Rick:

Yeah.

Tim:

But I think California is a place that’s opened a new facility, but California lost so many over the last couple of years. So, for them to open a new facility, okay, so they’ve opened a new, but I think they lost 15 or 20 – it was a large number whatever it was. So, it’s definitely a trend in the right direction. Even though there are a few states where maybe there’s been a new facility that’s opened, it is just so sparse and pales in comparison to how many that have closed. So, we definitely don’t see the traction going the other direction, we don’t see the trend growing.

Rick:

Yeah.

Tim:

It will be interesting to see what happens with them having gotten funding from this last spending bill that the president signed. It’ll be interesting to see if that affects any of their expansion at all. But when you come down looking at these states I’m looking at state legislatures, there’s really not anywhere you’re seeing a growth of Planned Parenthood. So, so there is good news on that front.

Rick:

Now, two points of clarification for you Tim. So, first of all that means no one could say, “€œOkay, yeah this was good news out of Tennessee, that’s the buckle of the Bible Belt.”€ No, no, no, this is happening all across the country in terms of a decrease in abortions and a decrease in funding for Planned Parenthood. But did I understand you – did you just say that they did or did not get funding in the last bill from the from the feds?

Tim:

Yeah. So, the last spending bill they got a significant portion of funding, was part of that spending bill. Which, of course, was one of the many reasons that conservatives, that Christians, had a problem with it. Because even though it funded the military, which was a major deal, we wanted the military funded, there were a lot of things it did not do whether we talk about border security. And there are a lot of things that it did do that we didn’t like like including funding for Planned Parenthood. So, that was part of the last spending bill.

Rick:

Gotcha. Okay, so there you go, we broke our Good News Friday role and we gave some bad news on Good News Friday. We’ll take a quick break and we’ll come back and get some more good news. Stay with us. You’re listening to WallBuilders Live.

Pastors Only Briefing Trip

Tim:

Hi, this is Tim Barton with WallBuilders and I want to encourage all the pastors out there with a unique opportunity that we’re presenting it WallBuilders. We’re doing a special tour just for pastors that you can come and learn more about the spiritual heritage of our nation. Not just seeing the sights but understanding the significance of what they are and what they represent.

We get to go to the Capitol at night.  And we get to see the spiritual heritage of our Founding Fathers, of who we are as a nation, where we came from. We bring in congressman that will tell you about current legislation, about our religious liberties  and freedom, and what’s going on in Washington, D.C.

If you want to know more about our nation, our religious liberties, our freedom, our spiritual heritage, this is a trip you want to be a part of.

Duty is Ours, Results are God”€™s

Rick:

Welcome back. Thanks for staying with us on this Good News Friday. And yet we had a little bit of bad news going to the break, but actually, guys, I hope people don”€™t listen to our program and think we’re just glossing over the tough spots or that we think everything’s perfect. We recognize, like John Quincy Adams, you’re going to lose some battles, win some battles, duty is ours, results are Gods”€™. That’s part of being in this arena. We don’t give up when we have setbacks like that budget bill.

Tim:

Well, and I would even say that certainly as we talk about things that are not where we want them to be, they become prayer requests until they can become praise reports. Right. So–

Rick:

Oooo, I love it! Say that again.

Tim:

They they are prayer requests until they become praise reports.

Rick:

Prayer requests that become praise reports, I like that.

Tim:

That’s it. So, all we’re doing is we have prayer direction knowing okay, you know what, there are still some areas we need to work, we need to see progress, we need to pray, ask God to move in these situations. And then when God does move we talk about it, we have a Good News Friday, we talk about the great things going on. And obviously recognizing the providence and sovereignty of God in the midst of all of it.

Rick:

That”€™s good. That”€™s very good.

Alright, David, next piece of good news for us.

Good News Out of the Middle East

David:

Comes out of the Middle East and it’s always good to have good news coming out of the Middle East with as much goofiness that goes on over there. And this good news comes out of Saudi Arabia.

Tim and I recently were in Israel and we met with all sorts of folks. We had a kind of a WallBuilders trip that went to Israel and that’s the second time, really, we’ve taken a WallBuilders kind of group over. And it really is cool and I continue to hold the position that every Christian needs to see the basis of their faith, which is Israel, the Bible land. And they need to see the basis of their freedom which is Philadelphia in Boston and D.C.. So, going to Israel is really key and we’ll be doing more of those trips.

But out of– while we were in Israel we were talking to one of the top intelligence guys in the whole nation. And when we take groups to Israel we like to get them involved and see some of the military stuff and some of the political stuff going as well as the Bible history and the heritage. And so in talking to this huge intelligence leader in Israel we were just asking about, who are your enemies? Who do you worry about on your borders? Of course they worry about every border. But Saudi Arabia was not a worry for them which is really interesting because Saudi Arabia is one of the more hardcore muslim countries in the Middle East.

And so as we talked to them we find out that, well, Saudi Arabia and Israel are actually cooperating on a lot of anti terrorism things. They both think that Iran is a terrible threat to the Middle East. They both are looking to take down Iran in some way. So this interview was going with ajournalist from The Atlantic and the crown prince of Saudi Arabia said, this is his quote, “€œThe Israelis have the right to their own land.”€ Now, that is a huge statement from any muslim leader to say that Israel has a right to exist in its own land. And he also said, “€œWe don’t have religious objections against any other the people. The fact they are Jews is not a problem for us.”€

So, that is mega big coming out of Saudi Arabia and as it turns out, as you look back over the last couple of years, you had a Saudi general that visited Jerusalem in 2016 and met with the lawmakers there. Saudi officials have made several trips to Israel. And Saudi Arabia is now even allowing planes to fly over Saudi Arabia to land in Israel, which, before was absolutely taboo.

He Makes Hitler Look Good

David:

So, in the last couple of years you’ve seen this real change going with Saudi Arabia toward Israel. And I found this really interesting and I’m just surprised this even made any kind of media in the United States at all. But the crown prince was saying that Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, who is the leader of Iran, he said, “€œHe makes Hitler look good.”€ That’s his quote.

Rick:

Wow.

David:

Yeah, Ayatollah makes Hitler look good. Tell me in a news report you”€™ve heard in the United States of how bad the Iranian leader is. And here’s an Islamic guy saying he makes Hitler look good. This is his quote, he said, “€œHitler didn’t do what the Supreme Leader of Iran is trying to do. Hitler tried to conquer Europe. This is bad, but the Supreme Leader of Iran is trying to conquer the world. He believes he owns the world. They’re both evil guys.”€

This is just amazing that he takes takes a religious leader of Islam and said, “€œHe’s an evil guy.”€ He said, “€œHe’s the Hitler of the Middle East.”€ He said, “€œIn the 1920s and 1930s, no one saw Hitler as a danger – only a few people. Until that happened. We don’t want to see what happened in Europe happen in the Middle East. We want to stop this through political moves, economic moves, and intelligence moves, we want to avoid war.”€

Listen to what he said about President Obama’s deal – this is the crown prince of Saudi Arabia, “€œPresident Obama gave 150 billion dollars to Iran.”€ The crown prince says, “€œThey took 150 billion after the deal. Can you please name one housing project they built with this money? One park, one industrial zone? Can you name for me one highway they built? I advise them, please show us something that you’re building a highway with 150 billion.”€

He said, “€œFor Saudi Arabia there is a one tenth of one percent chance that this deal will work to change the country. For President Obama it was a 50 percent chance. But even if there’s a 50 percent chance that it would work we can’t risk it. The other 50 percent is war. We have to go to a scenario where there is no war.”€

Man, for Saudi Arabia to say that was a really bad deal on America’s part– and they’ve been a perpetual enemy of Israel, this is such a huge turnaround in the Middle East and could be such a big game changer to have Saudi Arabia not wanting to attack and destroy Israel. This is big.

Rick:

I have to go back to even what we said earlier about Nebuchadnezzar and how God chooses to use certain people in history. Because some people might be saying, “€œOkay, wait a minute, isn”€™t this the same guy that locked up all the bunch of wealthy people from his country and kept them under house arrest until they gave over there– all the bad things that were done, frankly, over the last few months and year?”€ But, yes, look at what Nebuchadnezzar did when he first came into capture the children of Israel.

In the same way, this guy apparently, based on these headlines and what you’re reporting, God”€™s using him to help turn the tide maybe for Israel and the Jewish people. And like you said, we’ve never seen a Muslim leader say that they have a right to their own land. This is a game changer.

Alright, quick break. We”€™ve got time for one more piece of good news when we come back. Stay with us, folks. It’s WallBuilders Live Good News Friday.

Rick:

Welcome back. Thanks for staying with us here on WallBuilders Live. We”€™ve got time for one more piece of good news. I think it’s you Tim.

Tim:

Yeah, guys, this is something that we have– it seems like every couple of weeks we have a show talking about scientific breakthroughs, discoveries. This adult stem cell. And we’ve clarified many times, just in case somebody doesn’t know, adult stem cell is stem cells you can take from a living person. Basically, any time after a baby is born they are considered adult when it comes to stem cell. Even including things like the umbilical cord, right, part of the sack, whatever it is, it’s not related to the embryo.

Because you have adult stem cell and you have embryonic stem cell. Embryonic relates back to the embryo and when you take from the embryo, it terminates the pregnancy, it kills the baby is what we’re talking about. So, adult stem cell is what the government has largely not been in favor of, not supported. There has been lots of funding for embryonic stem cell which has produced zero cures to date. We stopped counting after there was 100 that were identified cures that have come from adult stem cell bill.

Amazing Adult Stem Cell Story

Tim:

Well, here is yet another amazing story. This title says, “€œAdult Stem Cells Help Little Chloe Levine Recover From Cerebral Palsy, Now She Can Run and Jump. What ultimately as it kind of breaks down, within months of her birth her parents knew that she had issues. She was diagnosed with cerebral palsy and when the family got information about adult stem cell they said, “€œOkay, let’s check it out.”€ And come to find out when doctors re-infused Chloe”€™s stem cell, it helped heal her brain. Within days she spoke and now she walks, runs, plays, and even rides a bike like any other kid her age.

So, just really amazing stuff that God is helping doctors discover with this adult stem cell which is coming from people that are alive, right, it comes from not ending a birth, from not this abortion kind of procedure. But science is able to take from what God created and did, use incredible technology, and find these miracle cures from this adult stem cell. So, this is just one more really cool testimony in that long line.

Saudi Arabia And Israel Are Cooperating Against Terrorism

Rick:

Another one of those examples of doing it God’s way – not doing it unethical, not taking life, or destroying life, in order to try to improve someone else’s life. And of course we said a few weeks back when we had one of these stories on adult stem cells, we had lost count of how many cures, and treatments, and different things have happened. Even had David Prentiss on to give us a little bit of an update and that’s available in our archive section all WallBuildersLive.com if you want to dive a little bit further into that.

And we have a lot more good news to share, but out of time for sharing it today, so be sure and catch next Friday’s program for some more good news. All of our programs available on our website at WallBuildersLive.com. We appreciate you listening today to WallBuilders Live.
