Rick:

Welcome to the intersection of faith and the culture. This is WallBuilders Live! We”re talking about today”s hottest topics on policy, faith, and the culture. We always do that from a particular perspective – we look at it from a biblical perspective, constitutional perspective, and a historical perspective. Which means we’re going to access those three things as we look at a hot topic of today that’s happening right now in our culture.

We have that conversation on a daily basis with David Barton, he”s America’s premier historian and the founder of WallBuilders. Also with Tim Barton, president of WallBuilders, he”s a national speaker and pastor. And my name is Rick Green, I’m a former legislator out of Texas.

David, Tim, later in the program we’ll have our friend John Guandolo with us. We’re going to be talking about some interesting things today. Let’s first talk about education in general in this culture and, specifically, with the next generation. We do some programs to help bring up young people to understand the Constitution and understand freedom.

Education Concern

Rick:

So, when you hear about programs out there also teaching young people and trying to get them involved in politics initially you go, “Hey, that’s great! Let’s get the kids involved.” Well, we got an email from one of our listeners about a program that’s out there and we kind of had a little bit of a concern and the more we looked at it the more concerned we got.

David:

Let me point out that our listener didn’t send it to us to promote that pact because he was concerned about it too. So, it was kind of like a heads up that he gave us. It’s not like he was advocating for this pact.

Rick:

Right.

Tim:

Yeah, and certainly with the work that we do trying to help equip the next generation wanting to get young people involved, certainly we want to partner with people that are working to do that. And especially if they’re trying to help them know how the process works and how you can get involved to make a difference.

But it does make a difference the ideology you have when you start coming into this. If your idea is, “I want to help restore the biblical, the constitutional, the moral fabric of the nation.” Well, we would look and go, “That’s a great perspective.”

Now, there are some from different directions that might say, “We need to change the racial equality. We need to change–“ And there’s all kinds of things you might hear – it”s that gender issues, and the wage gap, and you hear all these kinds of things.

Your Ideology is Going to Make a Difference

Tim:

But your ideology, where you’re coming from, is going to make a difference in what you’re trying to accomplish and how you’re trying to carry these things out.

Well, when we looked at this website, it was actually a website helping to train and equip young Muslims to get involved and be a part of the political process. Now, that’s wonderful for the next generation, for young anybody, to want to get involved and be a part of the process. But if the goal for these young Muslims getting involved is get involved and help learn to implement Sharia in America, now we would have a problem. Because Sharia is a replacement of the Constitution and we want people that will support and uphold the Constitution.

Ultimately, this is– it’s kind of an interesting dilemma because we want to encourage people to get involved, but we certainly don’t want the wrong ideology which is seems like a lot of what this is.

David:

Yeah, there are a lot of concerns. Tim, as you as you raised with Sharia law, that’s a real problem. And we’re seeing that with a lot of different movements within Islam, this pro Sharia stuff. Everybody needs to understand at this point that this is not a bash on Islam. Because people say, “Hey, all religions are welcome in America.” Yes they are, but not all ideologies are embraced in America. And so there are ideologies that are out there that, really, as you said, Tim, really replace the Constitution.

So, in the case of this, if you look at Sharia, folks who buy into Sharia, they have their own separate economic systems – it”s not the free market system. They have their own Sharia compliant financing, they have their own legal system, they have the Sharia law.

American Courts Recognizing Sharia Law

David:

And you have several dozen American courts now that have started recognizing Sharia law which is incompatible with the Constitution. Which is why a number of states have done what they call “American law for American courts” – “No, no, no. We are America We will stick with the Constitution and American law.”

And you also, in addition to having Sharia financing and Sharia law, you have Sharia courts which do replace constitutional courts. And if a non muslim person goes into those courts, it’s going to be a bad deal because they are not compliant with Sharia. Tim, if you and I went in as gentiles in that court we”d in serious trouble.

We Don”t Want the Wrong Change

Tim:

Especially if we were contending with someone if the case was against someone who was a muslim because we don’t have the rights that a muslim does.

In the midst of this, although we want to encourage everybody to get involved in the process, know how it get involved, vote, be a part, we also want to encourage the right ideology or America will change and not for the better.

David:

And what happens is that this advocation of training muslim youth, when you’re going into Sharia principles, this is a difficulty. Especially when you look at what’s happened in America recently. Over the last decade or so, there’s been a 74 percent increase in mosques in America. Now on its face that’s not bad to have more mosques. There’s roughly 2500 plus mosques in America now and it”s exploded over the last decade.

But here’s the deal – eighty one percent of mosques in America currently teach extremism. Now, that’s a real problem. When you have this explosion of mosques and 81 percent are teaching this extremism, this Sharia, this replace the Constitution, replace liberty, replace America kind of stuff, that is a real problem. And now you’re training young people in that philosophy as well, you”re training the next generation.

So, there’s probably nobody that knows more about what’s going on with this than John Guandolo. John is an expert on this, he was with the FBI for a number of years. Then because he’s politically incorrect, they chased him out of the FBI. But he still is a go to expert on this across the nation and does all sorts of legal trainings.

Rick:

In fact, he was a subject matter expert on these very subjects – on Muslim Brotherhood, on their subversive movements, he was one of their go to guys. So, he was right there in the thick of things for sure and has become even more of an expert as he’s devoted his life to “Understanding the Threats”, what he calls his organization, and helps educate those of us that want to know as well. And that’s why he’s on the program today.

Welcome back. Thanks for being with us here on WallBuilders Live. Today, John Guandolo is back with us. Former FBI agent and actually very involved in leading the FBI’s first counterterrorism training education on the Muslim Brotherhood and other programs. He received the Defender of the Homeland award from the Center for Security Policy and just has been great at giving us a lot of background here on WallBuilders Live over the years on some of these things that have been happening. John, good to have you back, man.

John Guandolo:

Well, thank you very much for having me, Rick, I appreciate it.

Deeper Than Most People Would Dive Into

Rick:

Hey, you have been involved in this for many years. Obviously your book Raising a Jihadi Generation – we”ll have a link today for folks to get a chance to dive into this and not just see the headlines that the major media puts out that really puts us in this passivist state to not pay attention to what’s happening in Islam. And especially the radical Islamic movement in the U.S. and the attempts that they’re making.

So, I appreciate what you do, man. Thanks for coming on. Thanks for being willing to speak truth. And I wanted to ask you about– we saw this group that is doing, it”s basically a Muslim political training program.

And I mean, we’re all for getting young people involved in politics, but wanted to get your thoughts as you looked at this *jet pact what you think’s going on there and whether or not it’s just getting kids involved in government. Or is there a Islamic philosophy there that is not pro Constitution, we should say?

John Guandolo:

Well, first of all I got to commend you on asking the question because this is at a level deeper than most people would dive into. And you’re asking the question the right way. To understand even the question you’re asking, your listeners need to understand that the groups behind these events and these training programs – this is the Islamic movement in the United States, this is the Muslim Brotherhood.

The Same Objective”¦

John Guandolo:

And so that means, as a matter of fact, that we know the objectives of the Islamic Movement and the Muslim Brotherhood. Specifically which is to establish an Islamic state, a caliphate state, under Sharia Islamic law. And I have to note that that”s the same objective that ISIS and Al Qaeda have. The same objective as Hezbollah, Boko Haram, Abu Sayyaf, and all the violent jihadi organizations around the world.

And so when we look at how the Islamic Movement says it’s going to achieve its goal of establishing an Islamic state under Sharia, which it actually believes it’s going to do. Whether we believe they can do it or not is not how they measure their success. And so when you see these efforts they are exactly in line with all the other education training they’re doing. That the political aspect of this training specifically, but in their broader movement, is always undergirded by Shari’a and the purpose is to establish an Islamic state under Sharia.

And so your listeners that are not aware are clear – 100 percent of Islamic law Sharia mandates warfare against non Muslims until the entire world is under Islamic rule – Sharia. There’s no version of Islam that does not require that. And I say that because you know it, but many people do not know it. Sharia, the Islamic law, is wholly and completely contrary to our form of government here in the United States.

As you and I have actually talked about previously, our Founders knew that. Our founders, Thomas Jefferson and John Adams, had to deal with this prior to the Constitution and the formal establishment of the United States when they were ambassadors to France and England, respectively. So, they had to deal with the muslim threat and in dealing with it, they realized that Islam is contrary to our understanding of liberty and our understanding of how government and legal systems need to be created and used in the West.

Rick:

And that’s the part, man, there’s very little understanding. That”s part of why we want to send people your website today UnderstandingTheThreat.com. That”s where you can get the book Raising a Jihadi Generation – or at Amazon.

We”ve Almost Got Blinders On

Rick:

But literally understanding the threat – you named your organization perfectly because we’ve almost got blinders on as far as really understanding what’s taking place here. It’s like we want to ignore it, sweep it under the rug, we just don’t want to acknowledge that there is an ongoing concentrated effort to radically change what America is at its very core. And you just hit on it with the difference between– Sharia law is not compatible with our concept of freedom. Certainly not with the Constitution itself, but even the American ideal of freedom and liberty.

John Guandolo:

That’s right. And if we just take a couple simple examples – freedom of expression. In Islam, if you say anything about Islam, the prophet, or muslims, and the law reads “that a Muslim would dislike”, that”s apostasy and that is a death penalty. So, that is just totally contrary to Western law and, specifically, in the United States. If you look at sovereignty in the United States the people are sovereign. And in Islam, allah, their god, is alone sovereign. Anyone who disagrees with that is killed. That’s also a capital crime.

If we look at various religions – whether it’s Christianity, Judaism, or atheism, for instance, a lack of belief. All of those are not equated under law in Islamic law like they are in the United States. So, under Islamic law, if you are not a Muslim you must either submit to Islamic law, pay a non muslim poll tax, you have different rights than muslims. Or if you don’t do that, you’re not willing to do that, you’re killed. So, that’s wholly different.

And I know this is like an obvious thing, but what I really want your listeners to understand that is what Islam is – there is no other version of Islam. And * challenge it, understanding the threat, which we have made publicly is that if anyone can demonstrate that what understanding the threat publishes and teaches about Sharia and Islamic law is untrue, then we will stop teaching and publishing it. We give the person who brings it to our attention a thousand dollars cash. But in the last the last three years we’ve been doing that we have not had to pay out. And that includes imams and Islamic scholars that have publicly tried to portray what we’re saying is untrue.

They Go Silent

John Guandolo:

As soon as we lay that challenge on the table they go silent, because they realize what we’re saying is true. And the reason it”s true is when we teach about Islam and Sharia we use the very books, and authoritative Islamic law books, and textbooks from junior high schools and Islamic schools, in the United States. We use what they teach each other when we’re not around. And when you use those books, and you use those sources, you will find that 100 percent of the time you get what ISIS and Al Qaeda teach are the requirements of Islam.

Rick:

Before I let you go, John, we’re almost out of time, before I let you go, let me ask you if I’m seeing this even close to accurate. I view kind of the– it seemed like for 20-30 years on the multimedia messaging front, the Muslim Brotherhood just flat ran circles around us and our folks did not even see what was happening. They were using the tools of free speech, and free press, and all those things to to win. Okay, so now I’m seeing that with this *jet pact thing they’re going to say, “Hey let’s use the system that’s there. Let’s teach these muslim kids how to get involved in politics, get elected, and bring these values into the arena.”

And of course we allow for that – that’s the freedom of our system. But just as we had to wake up 20 years ago and say, “We’ve got to do better on the PR front to counter this stuff.”, and I think we”ve done so. People like you speaking out and our friend, Frank Gaffney, and others educating the American people and getting better at speaking on those issues.

Learning to Fight With the Tools We”ve Been Given

Rick:

Just as we did that, don’t we have to do the same thing with teaching our young people, and the next generation that’s going to be those leaders and those legislators and in the political realm, teaching them the truth about this as well as the foundation of the Constitution? We have to learn to fight with the tools we’ve been given – the free principles that we’ve been given – freedom of speech, and education, and those things. Is that a bad analogy or am I seeing this right?

John Guandolo:

I think you’re right on the mark. One of the things we do at Understanding The Threat is, whether it’s our three day law enforcement program or even in a short program like a half a day or day program at a church, we always include a short piece on the founding principles.

And actually, as you’re well aware, as a Naval Academy graduate, a marine officer, and an FBI agent, I thought I knew a lot about the founding. But it wasn’t until I got a VIP tour with a group prior to the National Prayer Breakfast about 10 years ago, 11 years ago now from David Barton that I realized maybe my understanding was not quite where it needed to be. And I challenged the information – not that David was giving – and I dove into it on my own and did my study and listened to every– and realized we’ve been told things that were not true about our own founding.

Rick:

Yeah.

A True Study of the Founding is the Key

John Guandolo:

When you actually do a real study of the founding, which we now teach and write about much more frequently, I think that is the key. So that when a cancer like Islam comes along, people would recognize it as something that’s not compatible with our system. But if you don’t understand our founding and how it actually is meant to work then you can’t see it. So, I believe you’re right on the mark.

And then– but this is really critical– then when people have a program to get muslims to go around to get elected people would understand that that, in and of itself, should not be tolerated. But it sounds almost outlandish if you don’t understand what the founders, what their position was, on who should hold office and how the system worked. Because Sharia is totally incompatible with our system. So, why would you let a Muslim, who is Sharia adherent, being a judge over a federal system that they want to overthrow?

Rick:

Always Good to Get the Behind the Scenes

Rick:

David, Tim, always good to get, basically, the behind the scenes of what’s really going on. And this guy being in the FBI as long as he was, and highly decorated, and recognized the awards he had. Â He knows what he’s talking about. He’s not afraid to speak the truth.

Tim:

Well, I think it’s such a good point as he’s talking about what ultimately Islam produces. But even as he talked about the repercussions that we would see, right, where, in America, we believe in the freedom of expression. But under Sharia that could be a death penalty if you express or say the wrong thing.

And so even as we”re talking about this political training camp where kids are going and learning how the political process works, how they can get involved, how they can do things. And that’s great – we want kids to get involved. However, if the people that are getting involved and getting trained to learn how to win an election, to run for school board, or city council, or mayor, or state rep, or whatever the case is. If they’re getting these positions and their idea is that expression is wrong if it opposes Sharia. Well, that’s not the ideology we want to promote.

Which, again, is why it’s so important that we pay attention to these people that are running, to the people that are trying to achieve these positions of public servant. Because their ideology is going to come out of what they do as John very well pointed out.

David:

And, Rick, you mentioned, just like Tim is saying here, that it looks like they’re using the system. Well, they are. What I have found is that the muslim folks are probably more disciplined and more long term vision than any folks I’ve ever dealt with. In the case of textbook adoptions, and standards, and history standards, and social studies, and government, etc., they’re very good at saying, “Now how does the adoption process work? And how does the textbook writing process work? And how does the standard writing process work?”

Combating a Long Term Vision

David:

Over 12 to 15 years they steadily get their people there and they’re able to take it. And that’s why now you have public school textbooks with 19 pages on the glories of Islam and two pages on the horrors of Christianity. Now wait a minute, you can’t get that in any comparative religion course even from progressives today unless you have really gotten into the system, and worked that system, and they have. They’re very diligent, very long term, they understand that part of the way they can take countries in Europe is simply by having babies and raising those babies into young men and young women who think Sharia stuff.

So, what you’re seeing is 30 years of open policy immigration. Europe is now resulting in all sorts of situations in Europe that are scaring the dickens out of folks in Great Britain, and folks in France, and Germany, that didn’t think that this was coming.

So, you’re right, Rick, they are using the system which is available to every single person. And it’s not a problem if will get involved in the system as well. But if we’re going to stand back and allow their young people to be trained in a philosophy that wants to replace the Constitution and not train our own young people, then we’ve got a situation going.

A Wakeup Call

Rick:
It”s a little bit of a wakeup call for us to realize that if you sleep long enough, and you sit on the sidelines long enough, others are going to fill the vacuum. And here we have these great, wonderful, easy, ways to get involved and make a difference. But if we don’t do it, people that don’t believe like us, don’t share our values, don’t have a system of values that supports a constitutional republic and the kind of freedom we enjoy, they’re going to be the ones to fill that vacuum.

David:

And that’s our fault. If there’s a vacuum there it”s because we’ve gotten out and left it there. And I have no difficulty with every person in America being taught the American system. But I do have difficulty with being taught the system so that you can overthrow the system.

I’ll end this with a great quote from Eisenhower. Eisenhower fought for the Constitution, lost lots of lives, but he said, “The Bill of Rights contains no grant of privilege for a group of people to destroy the The Bill of Rights. A group dedicated to the ultimate destruction of all civil liberties cannot be allowed to claim civil liberties as his privileged sanctuary from which to carry on the subversion of the government.”
