Welcome to the intersection of faith and the culture. It’s WallBuilders Live. We’re talking about the hot topics of the day from a biblical, historical, and constitutional perspective. It is an interview with Joeylynn Mesaros. She and her husband were part of the Trump train on I-35 in Texas last October driving next to the Biden bus, welcoming them to Texas with American flags and Trump flags. They did nothing but express their freedom of speech, and now they’re being sued and harassed and it’s just a mess.

But she has joy. She is standing up for truth. She’s never been involved in politics before about a year and a half ago. So excited to see her and her family engage in the process, stand for truth, and even in the face of crazy adversity still have joy, and still stay in the process.

HEROES of HISTORY

In Trump Country

Joeylynn:

This to us was just another opportunity to express ourselves and to show President Trump our passionate support for him in a town that was so conservative while this bus comes through main highway, and so…

Rick:

Let them know you’re in Trump country.

Joeylynn:

That’s right. It’s Trump country. That’s right. And so, I remember President Trump tweeted a video of the trucks with the Biden bus and he said, I love Texas, and I thought, oh, I can’t wait to tell my grandkids about this someday. Well, there’s a caveat. I also have to tell them about this lawsuit that has slapped us in the face. We did not find out about it for almost eight months. In fact, we like…

Rick:

Wait, wait, wait before you do the lawsuit, let’s go to that day. Okay?

Joeylynn:

I’m sorry. Okay.

Rick:

So that day, you guys are all driving along, and I’ve watched the video. I mean, it’s like 15-20 trucks that and cars that are essentially parallel with the bus, and then there’s a lot more than our way back by at least on the videos I’ve seen, right?

Joeylynn:

Yeah.

No Assault

Rick:

Nobody swerved into the bus or tried to run the bus off. Nobody touched the bus. Everything I saw, okay, is that am I getting an accurate picture? I saw the one time where car tried to swerve into, it might have been yours truck, I don’t know, somebody’s truck.

Joeylynn:

It was not our trucks. It looks a lot like ours. That was not ours. That is another defendant.

Rick:

Okay. And so that truck didn’t back off stayed in the lane. That was the only confrontation that I saw. Was there any other, I mean, like were people screaming like expletives? Okay, let me ask you this way. What was the worst thing that happened during this Biden bus is going, Trump trains next to him, what was the worst thing in your mind that our side, the Trump people did?

Joeylynn:

So I’ll have to say, I did not see the impact occur that day. I heard about it later. So that was not on my mind for the experience that day. I remember thinking this isn’t exactly what I expected because the bus is driving so slow now that we’ve merged onto the freeway. 

So he was going the speed limit, and then he slowed to a very, very slow speed that made it difficult for what we imagined to be like a parade behind him turned into us having to fill up the highway because it was not safe to drive so slow on the freeway.

And so after so very few miles, my husband and I were like, well, I mean, we came in, we did what we came to accomplish, but it isn’t really going like we expected so maybe let’s just call it a day. And so we did. 

We pulled off and we went home and we’re kind of like, alright, like I guess we pictured incredible glory flapping behind the bus, and it was like going too slow to even happen. And then later we saw on Facebook that there had been the impact. And you’re absolutely right.

Who Was Driving the Black Truck

So mainstream media took one of our own videos, not mine and my husband’s, but our Trump train group, which at that time had over 4,000 members, it had grown to be a very large group, and mainstream media captured somebody’s video off their Facebook page, chopped it down to just the part where the black truck holds his ground.

Rick:

Yeah, where that white guy, I’ve seen. I mean, the white car is trying to run the white truck off, get in between them, so that’s literally somebody against the Trump, and the trucks…

Joeylynn:

That’s right. And on Monday, our attorney is actually putting together a video on a loop that’s going to reflect that so that we can get that out there. So we’ll be sharing that on our platforms.

Rick:

Got you. And my apologies to her attorney for asking questions about your truth is the truth. You guys didn’t do anything wrong and Wendy Davis is just trying to get press. I mean, that’s really what she’s doing.

Joeylynn:

You’re speaking truth. At this point, you’re right, it is the truth. And there’s nothing that we have to hide about that. And we will not be intimidated. So we will continue to exercise our free speech since that’s what’s on the line here. But we will be judicious with being an active litigation. But our attorney’s fantastic. He is very aggressive and very passionate. And so he absolutely is equipping me to be able to speak.

Rick:

Excellent. By the way, let’s go ahead and put the link in there now and then we’ll do it again before we’re done, but this is going to cost us a lot of money, just to defend the exercise of free speech. That’s what’s happening here. 

Civil Rights in the 1960s

So to put this in context, if you were in the 1960s, and you’re being prevented from marching in the streets as a civil rights activist that is preventing you from exercising your free speech, and exercising your right of assembly, that’s essentially what they were doing: was assembling and speaking with their flags and everything else, and they’re now being sued for this.

And the ironic part is, they’re being sued under this 1871 anti-KKK statute. Wendy Davis probably doesn’t even know that the KKK were Democrats, and that that law was passed by Republicans, and that, by the way, former senator Wendy Davis, Democrat senators fled from the Senate floor to prevent that bill from being passed, breaking quorum just like the cowardly Democrats have done this summer because they didn’t want blacks to be able to vote Republican.

Joeylynn:

That’s right.

Rick:

Okay. So just a little bit of irony there.

Joeylynn:

Thank you for looping that. I always touch on that. I just learned a little bit more.

Rick:

Good for you. So you already knew that?

Joeylynn:

I did.

Rick:

I impressed. Alright.

Joeylynn:

Only because this has come knocking on our front door.

Rick:

And there’s two s’s freedomssake, it get messed a lot.

Rick:

I don’t care whether you can only get $2. The more people that give, also that’s going to be literally you’re saying thank you to this family for standing up. Think about what she’s done over the last year. She’s done exactly what we’re asking people to do all over the country. 

You Can Be a Part!

She’s done exactly what you’re asking people to do at your church when you do a Biblical Citizenship class, or you do any of our other constitution classes. They did that and they’re being attacked by the left for doing it and we should be coming alongside them. So go make that donation and make it hurt.

When I went in to make my donation, I was like, you know what I could give, I could give 50 bucks and give 100 bucks. I’m going to give a number that hurts my family’s monthly budget. I’m going to make it hurt. I want to help that much. You need to do the same thing. Please do Okay. Alright, back to…

Joeylynn:

Thanks too much. And you’re right. And I would just like to explain to your viewers, because you might be wondering why it’s going to cost so much money and we were wondering the same because they have filed this as a violation of the Ku Klux Klan law saying that we banded together on a public highway to suppress black and minority voter rights, it has been escalated to federal court because now it’s a civil rights matter. And they have upwards of 15 attorneys and three Democratic nonprofits funding this lawsuit.

Rick:

Did they sue just you and Robert, or have they sued other people that were in the train as well?

Joeylynn:

Great question. So there are two lawsuits. One is against the San Marcos police department, who love to defund and there are platforms for defunding the police on the nonprofit websites that are funding this lawsuit. Yes. 

So they’re suing the San Marcos police department because they were displeased that they didn’t respond quick enough. And then they’re suing five of us defendants. So it’s myself and my husband, the gentleman in the black truck and then to other either San Antonio or New Braunfels Trump train members.

This bus came from Corpus and was driving all the way to Austin, and so there were groups all the way through in every city that were doing the same thing as us. So it’s very interesting to me that there are only five of us that are on this lawsuit when there were hundreds in total that participated in showing support for President Trump. 

Friends Show Their True Colors

And so again, it just keeps coming back to feeling like instead of them picking on us, we feel chosen. It took a couple of weeks for the shock to wear off and for some very powerful people who have come forward and prayed over us, spoken into us, a lot of prayer time and reading our Bibles, praying together and it’s just becoming clearer and clearer.

And so what started is a lot of fear in my stomach, not being able to sleep, wondering why, like this is why you’re not supposed to speak up to shifting into this is what they want. They want to scare you. They want to silence you. I lost so many friends. I lost a lot of friends and family when I started speaking out.

The friend that said every white person was racist and Donald Trump was racist and that she didn’t like white people, I was going to be a bridesmaid in her wedding party and that did not happen. You know there was a lot of loss to grieve while this was happening. A

nd then we started finding these new friends that had the same values we did. It kind of replaced those relationships. And then this lawsuit comes knocking on our door and then even some of those American patriots, well, anything but that, I didn’t want them coming after us next.

Rick:

No, that’s why we wanted to back you because we know that’s happening. We know that our own people scurry, right, because they don’t want to be the target on their back or whatever, they must have done something wrong. I’m sure they did something wrong with lawsuit. I’d been there. I know exactly how you feel. 

I mean they’re suing you for something or prosecuted or whatever when you did anything. I get it. And you cannot fake the Word of God coming out of your heart right now, the spirit that you have, that is you can’t fake what is obvious. 

A Right Heart

You have been in the word. You have been in the prayer. And of course, we know the Lord has not given us a spirit of fear, but of power, love, and a sound mind.

Joeylynn:

2 Timothy 1:7.

Rick:

Yes, there you go. 2 Timothy 1:7, baby.

Joeylynn:

Yeah. God is good. God is good all the time. And he has continued to provide us with support like you. So when we spoke and you contributed the donation, it was at a moment where it felt like okay, God, we cannot get any one to pick up the story, anyone to listen to what we’re saying, anyone to care, main media, personalities that are conservative, radio talk show host, I mean little local to all the way national, but we’re seeing our names on mainstream media around the world.

We actually learned about the lawsuit from a friend who still was kind of tuned into some mainstream media that saw our name on a front page article on CNN, and our names were listed, mine and my husband’s, so she said do you know that this is happening and I thought okay, no, we haven’t been served any paperwork. 

I hadn’t heard about this. Is this real? Former senator Wendy Davis is a nutjob, I’m just going to say that plainly. And we were like okay, this maybe is just propaganda, this maybe is just like and then we got served maybe three to four weeks later.

So they give us a giant press release along with some lovely KKK cartoon graphics of us with confederate flags and with representing us and really… My husband is a plumber and so his name and his reputation is everything. And so when you would search for my husband, you’d see these wonderful reviews about his work.

Rick:

Wait and let me guess now, with your last name, is he a Hispanic, Italian, what is his name?

Joeylynn:

It’s Hispanic and Czech. Yeah.

Rick:

Hispanic and Czech, okay, so yeah, you racist you?

Joeylynn:

I know it. I know it. I know it. Don’t I know it?

They Don’t Know History

Rick:

And again, they don’t know their own history. So they put these cartoons out there, not knowing you’re actually attacking Democrats. There’s a racist. They’ve always been the racist.

Joeylynn:

Okay, so here’s the thing, get me wound up. We’re going down the road with our flags the way they’re going down the road with a billboard size bus. We’re both doing the same thing, exercising our freedom of speech in the exact same capacity. 

We’re both campaigning. Yet we’re the ones who are violating the KKK law that was designed to protect minorities from Democrats. It’s just it blows my mind. 

But you know, their favorite thing to do is play the race card to create instant division. And we’ll spend the rest of our lives undoing this slander, and this defamation.

We have family that is convinced that we’re racist, because they hear it on the news, or they’ve drawn this conclusion based on the small facts that they have when they’ve known us our whole lives.

But that’s how powerful the media is which is why we’re in the situation that we’re in now. And so just watching it affect your own personal life, knowing that you’re an average American. And I know that leftists and they’re enjoying this happening right now, the censorship. They’re enjoying it. But it’s going to be…

Rick:

And the division, they love the division that’s happening in your family are and then with your friends. Everything you described earlier is the Marxist dream. You know, we talked about it last summer, as all that stuff was happening is like they love the fact that they’re dividing your family, your kids are coming home and telling you you’re racist, and white supremacy and all that. 

And I can’t tell you how many families we’ve watched just be torn apart by this evil, evil, divisive, critical race theory and all the things that they’re doing. And it’s all part of what Wendy Davis is trying to do to you guys.

No Premeditated Plan

I know, some of you are hesitant, because you’re thinking, yeah, but you know, what else might have happened and all that kind of stuff, so now I’m really going to get her attorney mad at me, and you can tell me if you can answer this.

Joeylynn:

Okay.

Rick:

Bottom line, did you guys go out there to stop that bus from getting to its location in Austin and prevent it from being able to do its campaign event?

Joeylynn:

I am allowed to answer this question.

Rick:

Good.

Joeylynn:

And we did not premeditate that. There was no premeditated assault, nor was there any premeditated plan for suppressing voter rights. Nor did that occur.

Rick:

So you just wanted to drive alongside them and let them know we support Trump around here?

Joeylynn:

That’s right. That’s exactly it. And the bus actually made it to Austin unscathed, because there was no interference there. You know, it’s just their absolute outright lies. They’re malicious. They’re frivolous. It’s an abuse of power. It’s designed to chill free speech. It’s interesting to me there were only three occupants on the bus.

And it’s just curious to me that it came straight through such a conservative town. What was it, overall to your motive, maybe kind of right through our head in retrospect. Because we had been on national news for the size of our Trump trains a few weeks before that had happened, and it was during the early election time. And so, it’s all very curious how it all happened. But…

It’s Criminal

Rick:

I asked that question for those of you that are at home that are thinking, I’d love to support Joeylynn but I don’t know what else might come out, and all that stuff. Go make your donation, they need our support.

Joeylynn:

And I’ll say, it’s a civil complaint. It is not a criminal. There are no criminal charges. This has been in their works with 15 attorneys for eight or nine months, and they cannot find what they’re looking for. So it’s a civil matter, and they want money. 

The bus driver is one of the plaintiffs suing us with Wendy Davis, and a Biden campaign staffer that’s now on Kamala’s cabinet as an admin. And so the bus driver is claiming that he is too traumatized to drive a bus and he made between $600,000 and $700,000 a year driving a bus and wants monetary compensation.

Rick:

Wow, I am going to change jobs.

Joeylynn:

No, I’m telling you, that’s obviously how we need to pay for this lawsuit, and you need to go drive a bus.

Rick:

No kidding. That’s insane. Okay, you may have never been sued. I have and I’m telling you, it is like a black cloud over your life until it’s over. It feels like that. And it dominates your thoughts. It’s a nightmare. It’s a nightmare. Look at the joy that she how she’s handling this, and the joy that is coming out of her right now. 

That is highly unusual. So it’s not that I want you to go through this, but I think you’re right, you’ve been chosen for this. The witness right now of your faith, and your joy, and all of those things speaks volumes. And I hope that it speaks volumes in how many donations are going to happen tonight and tomorrow, and the next day. God bless you.

Joeylynn:

Thank you. Let it be to me, you know, God send me. I mean, we are made for such a time as this. This is the time that we were created. We’re living in these times because this is exactly where God wants us to be. 

For Such a Time as This

And He has a mission and a plan for each one of us. And He wants each one of us to be encouraged and bold in the gifts and the talents that He’s given us and He won’t withhold them from us. Because this is the time. 

This is not a time to be worried about raising our children in a time like this. This is the time that God made them. And so we just got to stick together.

Rick:

Amen. Exactly what our pastor last night, we do, our churches called [inaudible 20:00] sermons, we get a sermon, then we saw, oh, it’s always fantastic, you got to come. And Douglas just last night talking exactly what you’re saying and this wimpy Christian thing out there where we’re just removing from all the raptures come in or it’s all going to fall apart–

So we shouldn’t get involved, we haven’t built our houses and built our universities and done all the things to instill into this next generation. And so you’re doing exactly what we’re trying to get people to do. I love this. I love it.

Joeylynn:

Yes, let’s go, let’s go.

Rick:

We go to the Immortal 32 Monument, and the 32 from Gonzales that fought their way into the Alamo knowing they were going to die, but they did so for freedom. Anyway, all of that’s in your box. I hope you all enjoy that, just way of saying thank you for being patriots fighting the good fight.

A MOMENT FROM AMERICAN HISTORY

This is Tim Barton from WallBuilders with another moment from American history. Many today assert that religion is something private, that it has no place in the public square, and that it is incompatible with government. But the Founding Fathers believed exactly the opposite. They held that religion was absolutely necessary in order to maintain our free system of government.

For example, John Adams declared “We have no government armed with power capable of contending with human passions unbridled by morality and religion.” And signer of the Declaration, Benjamin Rush, similarly affirmed “Without religion, there can be no virtue, and without virtue, there can be no liberty, and liberty is the object and life of all Republican governments.” The Founding Fathers understood that limited government required public morality from the people and that public morality was produced by the Christian religion.
