You can be a part of the conversation by taking the program as you listen to it today and share it with people on Facebook and Twitter.

There are other ways for you to do it. All the new social media tools I can’t even keep up with them all, but it’s a great way for you to spread the good news. And that’s what we’re going to do today.

It’s Good News Friday

On Fridays around here, WallBuilders Live, we call it Good News Friday.

It’s a chance for you to hear about some of the victories across the country — some of the positive trends. We get plenty of negative everywhere else.

This is a chance for you to see what’s actually working – that there are solutions. That we do have the truth, and we have the solutions that the nation needs. When we implement those principles, we get good results.

So Good News Friday is all about catching up on that good news from across the nation and around the world.

We’re here with David Barton, America’s premier historian and the founder of WallBuilders. Also, Tim Barton, national speaker and President of WallBuilders, and my name is Rick Green. I’m a former Texas state legislator, national speaker, and author.

David and Tim have been compiling these good news stories over the past few weeks, and we’re going to dive into as many of those stories as we possibly can today.

Again, encourage you to go to the website Wallbuilderslive.com and share the program with your friends and family. Give them some good news as well.

Also, while you’re there at Wallbuilderslive.com, click on that donate button make that one-time or monthly contribution that makes this program possible. We appreciate you doing that, coming alongside us.

David Tim let’s dive into some good news. I believe David’s up first.

The Lawsuit President Trump Recently Won

David:

I’m going to start with a lawsuit that President Trump recently won.

It had not made much news, although when they filed, it made a lot of news. It’s a lawsuit over what’s called the Emoluments Clause in the Constitution.

Now, throw it to you guys: what’s an Emolument?

Tim:

You’ll have to pronounce that correctly, and we’ll try again

David:

E M O L U M N T. emolument clause in the Constitution. What is it?

Rick:

It’s like some kind of title, right?

Tim:

Emolument sounds more like it should be a dessert is what it sounds like. Well, they’ll have to emoluments, please.

David:

Actually, what you get it defined, you would like to have two or three or four.

Rick:

Are they like a special gift?

The Emolument Clause

David:

There are three a monument clauses in the Constitution; one’s foreign emoluments. The second is presidential emoluments. An emolument means a profit or an income.

In the Constitution, Article 2 Section 7, says the President of shall at stated times received for his services, a compensation which shall neither be increased nor diminished during the period for which he shall have been elected. And he shall not receive within that period any other emoluments from the United States or any of them.

If I read that as the President, I get a fixed salary: you can’t reduce my salary while I’m in office, I can’t give myself a raise, and no other State can pay me for what I’m doing. Because it says, he shall not receive within that period any other emoluments from the United States or any of the other States.

All right, so I think that’s pretty clear except the lawsuit was filed against him that he owns a chain of hotels. And because he’s President, people will now come to those hotels more often which means he’ll get more profit. Which means that violates the Emolument Clause of the Constitution.

So they filed suit against him for owning businesses. Which basically if this all makes sense, that means no businessman can ever become President the United States unless he stops all business and gets rid of everything he’s ever done.

Tim:

Wouldn’t it be one thing if he said, I will only conduct business with you if you rent five rooms while we’re having this meeting.

David:

Yeah, that’s right. I mean it’d be one thing to distort it but to say you’re not allowed to use your name on your buildings anymore. Even though they were there for decades before you became President.

It’s a very inconsistent idea and argument, although it seems to be where a lot of people want to go — anything they can do to to help their side win.

We’re not into what’s logical, what’s honest, and what’s truthful – I want my side to win. So, we hate Trump and that we’re gonna tear him down. This argument doesn’t make very much sense.

The Argument Doesn’t Make Much Sense

Well, it doesn’t make much sense, especially since the Constitution says the money can’t come from the United States or from any of the other States.

This is coming from private businesses. Plus, these guys when they become President or senator they put their businesses into a blind trust and let someone else run it.

They’re no longer doing day-to-day operations in their businesses, and so they are not creating policies that give themselves an advantage.

Nonetheless, even though this was not another State or the United States giving them money they filed suit over this.

Guess what happened when they filed suit? What do you think all the headlines had been back when this suit was filed? The President is using his position as President to make money for himself. That’s a claim because that’s the lawsuit.

The Courts Dismissed The Lawsuit

Now, the courts dismissed the lawsuit. (They) Said this is completely frivolous, said it should’ve been thrown out long ago.

But nobody’s talking about the fact that this was a frivolous lawsuit, that it does not violate the Constitution.

What everybody talked about was the fact that here’s Trump trying to rake in more money. He’s already rich, and he’s now using his position in government do it.

Fake News

Rick, going back to your political days back when I was doing political office at the time, you remember the consultant we had in the state of Texas?

That always about three weeks before the election, he would file a lawsuit against the opponent in the election. And the news would run with all the lawsuit and the lawsuit could claim anything outrageous.

It could claim, I’m filing a domestic lawsuit because he regularly beats his wife and he has sold his daughter into sex slavery and whatnot.

It didn’t matter that the lawsuit was going to be dismissed. What it did at the time was it gave the media something to talk about.

What happens is well, where there’s smoke there’s fire. If they filed a lawsuit against him, he must really beat his wife. No.

This was just the way that this consultant tended to win his races. You could run a really clean race in the last three weeks. He would file a lawsuit against you, charging you with something outrageous, and then right after the election, he’d say well we’ve decided to dismiss the lawsuit.

So he used lawsuits as a way to create news. What we have here is when this lawsuit came out, and he said, look at the greed and the President.

Look what he’s trying to do; he’s doing things to manipulate for himself, and the courts properly threw it out as fake. The first piece of good news is the President won this lawsuit as he should have.

The second piece of news that I think is really good is that in a recent national poll when you look at all the big issues that are out there: terrorism, climate change, and illegal immigration all this stuff.

America Sees Fake News As Bigger Problem Than Terrorism, Climate Change, And Illegal Immigration

Do you know what was more important to American people? What did they saw as a bigger issue than terrorism, climate change, and illegal immigration?

They saw fake news as a bigger problem to America than terrorism climate change and illegal immigration.

I find that amazing that Americans are more concerned about the damage of fake news than they are about all these other things. Particularly, the Liberals who want to clamor around and talk about how this is so dangerous to the nation.

The most dangerous thing that people see right now out of all those categories is fake news.

What just happened with this lawsuit that dismissed the Emoluments Clause lawsuit against President Trump? That was trumped up fake news, and that’s what concerns Americans more than so many other issues.

Rick:

As it should because it has such an impact on the views of so many Americans that used to think they could trust what was coming out of the news. That’s changing, of course, thankfully he called them out on it from the beginning of his Presidency or even in the campaign.

Even that terminology and the shift in the lack of trust that Americans have in the major media which they shouldn’t have these days has really changed things.

Quick break, guys. We got some more good news coming up. Tim Burton’s got the next piece of good news, so stay with us. It’s Good News Friday right here on WallBuilders Live.

Moment From American History

This is Tim Barton with another moment from American history. The Second Amendment to the Constitution, which guarantees every individual the right to keep and bear arms, has been targeted for years now by those who are determined to dismantle the individual right to self-protection.

Opponents argue that “Only the militia, the military, and law enforcement are to have and use firearms.” But, those who wrote the Second Amendment strenuously disagreed, including Founding Father Richard Henry Lee, a signer of the declaration, a president of the Continental Congress, and one of those who actually framed the Second Amendment.

He declared, “To preserve liberty, it is essential that the whole body of the people always possess arms and be taught alike, especially when young, how to use them.”

For more information about Richard Henry Lee and the history of the Second Amendment go to WallBuilders.com.

Rick:

We’re back here on WallBuilders Live. It’s Good News Friday today. Next piece of good news coming from Tim Barton.

Legislation In Missouri That Does Not Allow Doctors To Put A Do Not Resuscitate Without Parental Consent

Tim:

Alright guys, in Missouri Governor Mike Parsons signed something this summer. It seems to be a very good piece of legislation. It deals with not allowing doctors to put a Do Not Resuscitate on children and on minors without parental consent.

What had happened was a family had a child in the hospital, and the child ends up dying. Later, I found out that the doctors had put a Do Not Resuscitate on the child.

So as soon as the child’s heart stops beating, they said we’re not going to try CPR to revive them. We’re not gonna try any more medical procedures. We’re just going to let them die.

The parents had no idea that there was a Do Not Resuscitate point on the child, and there was more than one situation where this happened.

House Bill 138

There was a state legislator in Missouri who brought this piece of legislation up. Rep. Bill Kidd. Apparently, this article says, he’s been trying to get this done for several years.

Well, the good news is: that the governor this summer signed what was HB, or House Bill 138, signed that into law this summer.

As I was looking at this celebrating the good news, I was also shocked at how different our medical system is. That now doctors don’t have to consult parents for literally the life and death of the child.

But the great news is, in Missouri, we said we’re not gonna let that happen anymore. In Missouri, parents are going to have to be the ones who make that call, not just the doctor.

It really is good news coming out of Missouri from a rather bizarre and really tragic scenario. What is known as Simon’s law is because Simon was the boy who died in this scenario, and they did not resuscitate. So really is a tragic story.

Hopefully, it will be very positive for many families going forward. That many lives will be saved because of this. They’ll use lifesaving medicine and techniques to try to resuscitate and bring people back once their heart has stopped. Or these scenarios unfold.

Good Job Missouri

So really good job Missouri Good job. Governor Mike Parson good job. Rep. Bill Kid for the work getting this done. It is really good news although it makes me think I wonder where the other States are.

This is one that I might want to check on as I have kids and what’s going on. I would want to make sure the doctor has a check with the parents before they don’t resuscitate my child. The parents ought to be involved in that conversation. Well, the good news is now at least in Missouri, parents are part of that conversation.

It’s Been Attempted To Pass In Other States But Failed

Rick:

Well, that’s actually been attempted to pass that law in other States, and it’s failed.

So like you say kudos to Missouri for having the parental rights and wisdom to pass that law.

Certainly, I want to encourage other States to do the exact same thing.

We are going to take a quick break. We’ll be back with more good news. David Barton, next. You’re listening to WallBuilders Live.

Good News Out Of Ohio – Humanity Of the Unborn Child Bill

David:

Ohio has introduced an interesting bill that would affect the curriculum, public schools, charter schools and any a state-funded school in Ohio. This bill is known as the humanity of the unborn child bill.

It directs that the curriculum has to include, “programming that provides accurate scientific, verifiable information concerning the probable, anatomical, and physiological characteristics of the unborn child.”

In other words, when you do your curriculum in the state of Ohio, you have to include information; physiologically and anatomically about the development of unborn children.

When They Attempted To Humanize The Slave In The 1840s-60s

Now, this is interesting because when I read this, it immediately took me back to what happened with the antislavery movement in 1840- 1860s as they attempted to humanize the slave.

That’s when they started coming out with pictures showing slaves who had been lashed on the back and the massive scars they had or are the collars they wore around their neck.

So much of that was based on humanizing the slave. Then they came out with what was called tokens. A little metal coin kind of thing that you could take and pass around and own it.

It had a kneeling slave a male slave looking up and said am I not a brother. It had a kneeling female slave looking up and saying am I not a sister. It was all about humanizing, and that’s what helped move the abolition movement for.

Blacks aren’t just commodities; they are real people we’re talking about here. And it does matter how you treat real people.

Well, take that tactic and move it forward to this bill and you’re saying you need to see 4D-images as the developments going forward. You need to see when fingers are developed.

You need to see when the heart is beating; you need to see that the movement of the child inside the womb. You need to see how they respond to various stimuli.

As you watch the growth and development of this, you figure out that’s not just a blob of tissue, a fetus, which even to this day the AMA and others still can continue to call it a blob of tissue or a fetus.

It’s A Real Human

No, it is a real human, and that’s very visible. What’s happening here is a bill that will humanize what that unborn child is. And let young people start seeing that.

It’s the same thing we’re seeing in the States that now require an ultrasound viewing. In those states, abortions have dropped because moms see, oh that really is a child. I didn’t realize that.

Now, we’re starting the curriculum that way, and you’re starting to raise children with that awareness. What that means for the long-term in the future, that’s very good for pro-life and preserving unborn life, and for protecting the inalienable right to life of all humans born and unborn.

Rick:

Alright, David, that’s more good pro-life good news. We’ve got time for another one this segment if either you want to get a quick one in.

Baby India From Atlanta, Georgia

Tim:

Yeah. Let me throw in another pro-life. This is one that happened not long ago. There is a story that went viral. It happened the beginning of the summer in Atlanta, Georgia.

There was a family who heard a noise outside. There was a baby girl who had been abandoned in a plastic bag. Police officers were called. They show up. There’s that footage that the officer said

David:

You mean like a trash bag plastic bag.

Tim:

Correct. Like a baby was abandoned. The officer shows up. There’s footage of the officer looking in and talking to the girl. Well, the little girl’s baby, India, is the title they gave this little girl. This got all kinds of coverage. It did go viral. People were finding out about it.

There Are Moments When Your Hope In Humanity Is Revived

Well, what was amazing is that the sheriff’s department there in Atlanta got thousands of people saying hey if somebody needs help, we would love to volunteer to adopt this little baby.

So they actually had to post, we want to thank everybody for all of your e-mails, all of the posts. We had to turn this little baby India over to the Georgia Department of Family and Children’s Services. She’s no longer with us.

Essentially please stop e-mailing us. We appreciate it. We’re overwhelmed.

But there was such an amazing response, an outpouring. There are moments when your hope in humanity is revived a little bit.

Certainly, when you see a child in need, and you just see thousands of people who are willing to do what they can to help a little child; it is very refreshing in a culture where we have States that are saying no, children can be aborted all the way up to birth.

Even after birth.

If you meant to abort them, and they were born before. Then you can have infanticide where you have States moving that direction. That can be very discouraging from a moral perspective of how far we’ve fallen as a culture.

Yet, there are moments like this with little baby India. When thousands of people saw the story, they wanted to be part of the solution and help adopt. So it really is a cool story coming out of Atlanta, Georgia.

Rick:

Very cool and very encouraging about the culture as you said. Not only that one instance but tells you a lot of good folks out there still not only pro-life but also willing to help others and not just their own kids but other kids too.

That’s what I like seeing in the pro-life movement when we say not only am I going to protect life and not be pro-abortion, personally, but I’m also going to reach out in the community and see how I can help other families and other kids as well.

Love those kinds of stories. We got a quick break here, guys. One more segment of good news, stay with us folks.

Rick:

We’re back on WallBuilders Live. Thanks for staying with us on this Good News Friday. We got one more segment of good news. Let’s see how much we can get in. Guys, who wants to dive in?

Waskom, Sanctuary City For The Unborn

David:

We’re going to a town in east Texas, a little town called Waskom. That East Texas town by a unanimous vote by the City Council, declared itself to be a sanctuary city for the unborn.

In other words, no abortions in this town. This is a very safe place for unborn children to come through their parents. You see something like this, a sanctuary city where the unborn are welcome here and you see — Tim was talking before the break and infanticide, and some States are going that direction.

Just to be really clear; infanticide means killing a child after it’s born. Not an abortion but used to be called murder. In Philadelphia, you remember Gosnell is convicted.

He is serving life in prison for having killed children as they were being born. They were still in the womb, and he was killing them.

Now we have people saying well once they’re outside the womb, not even being born anymore, they’re clearly born, they’re alive, and we can kill them.

Peter Singer, Princeton

This goes back to something that has been around for about 20 years. There’s a guy at Princeton, Peter Singer. At the time, he was the Head of Bioethics at Princeton; he said when you look across the world, you look at every other species is born except humans. From the time they’re born, they’re cognizant of the surroundings.

When a baby giraffe hits the ground, it gets up and heads to mom and knows it needs to nurse. When a baby calf hits the ground, it gets up and heads to momma knows it needs a nurse. Every other species except humans are cognizant from the time they’re born.

So, he advocated that until a human becomes cognizant, it really is not alive.

In other words, an unborn effort will just lay there on the table. If you don’t feed, it’s not going to take care of itself. It won’t come from milk, and therefore it’s really not a human until it starts having that reaction.

So that’s what infanticide is. That’s what he was advocating.

He said actually up to two years old. That a child up to two years old, you should still be able to kill a child up to two years old because it does not have self-awareness. It does not have cognizance.

Infanticide – Killing Of Infants

So on the one hand, you’ve got this move in America where that we’re even looking at states, and Governor of North Virginia was talking about doing infanticide.

Infanticide is just a sophisticated word for saying murdering children after they had been born. It is killing infants. It is the same thing that Herod did when Jesus was born. He said, soldiers, go find any child is two years old and under and kill them because one of them might have been this king of Jews that was born. That’s infanticide.

So even though there are places in America going crazy. By the way, I did that little sidetrack into infanticide because I’m watching in public now as people use that term; I do not even see a reaction.

It’s not like they’re repulsed by the term, and so it’s like it’s become a term that maybe it’s little late-term abortion kind of stuff, and we really don’t think about it.

I really want to explain that.

In contrast to that growing mentality, that you can kill a child even up to two years later, it’s crazy.

In contrast to that, you definitely have a trend moving the other direction where cities like Waskom, Texas are saying not around here. We value human life, we value unborn life, and this city will be a sanctuary for the unborn. We value human life.

Pro-Life Organizations Helping At The Border

Tim:

Speaking of valuing life. I have one more I want to try to sneak in real quick.

This deals actually with the border.

There were 50 different pro-life groups that got together and said these migrant caravans that are coming, in among them you do have a lot of moms with young babies or you have pregnant moms and what can we do to help?

These pro-life organizations have raised tens of thousands of dollars and gotten tens of thousands of dollars of supplies. They’ve said we want to go down and help these moms who are part of the caravan.

We want to be pro-life not just in word, not just to people that are in our community. We want to help people who we don’t even know but who are trying to get into America.

It’s neat to see people that are not just saying the right thing. You have the right kind of values coming forward.

It’s great news that this is not the government trying to provide more and more.

You have individuals who recognize. Nope, I’ve been called as an individual to help people in need. You have a lot of groups that are stepping up to try to help people in need as they see them. So in this pro-life movement, there is a lot of positive things happening.

Rick:

We are out of time for good news today, but we will have more for you next Friday.
