Rick:

Welcome to the intersection of faith and the culture. It’s WallBuilders Live and it’s Good News Friday. This is going to be a fun program today. I always look forward to Good News Friday. It’s a chance for David Barton, America’s premier historian and our founder of WallBuilders and Tim Barton, national speaker and pastor and president of WallBuilders, it’s a chance for them to bring us some good news. My name is Rick Green. I’m a former Texas legislator and America’s Cconstitution coach and I am always looking for stories in the culture where people are applying these principles of freedom that we share on WallBuilders Live and seeing results. Now, it doesn’t change the fact that we have a duty to be good citizens even if we don’t see results, right. That’s the story we tell often about John Quincy Adams in his quote, “Duty is ours, results are God’s.” But I love hearing good results, I got to admit it. I like hearing the stories and the victories and the triumphs. And so, on Friday, we get a chance to share those with you.

If you’re not going to get to listen to the whole program today or you missed last week’s Good News Friday, they’re available at our website wallbuilderslive.com. So, be sure and visit the website today. Share today’s program and other programs here on WallBuilders Live with your friends and family. That makes you a force multiplier. It allows you to become a part of the solution, to stand with us, to come alongside us and lock shields with us and be a part of the team. You can do that by simply sharing our program with as many people as you possibly can. And by donating their wallbuilderslive.com, that gives us the finances to get the program in as many hands as possible, as well. So, thanks for doing both of those things today at wallbuilderslive.com.

Let’s jump into some good news, guys. First piece of good news is going to come from David Barton. David.

David:

Well, I’m going to start by going back to something that President Trump did several weeks ago. We really haven’t talked about it to any degree, but it’s the comprehensive peace plan that he came out for Israel. It was this Middle East peace plan. It was how he saw from the American side what we can do to have peace in the Middle East with Israel, the Palestinians, Hamas, all the stuff that was over there.

And so, you know, I’ve got to say up front, I understand he has to come out with a peace plan. I’ll also say upfront, I do not support a two-state solution for Israel. And there’s several reasons for that. And let me just lay it out and then I’ll talk about his peace plan and why it’s good news, because he does call for a two-state solution. So, he’s calling for it, I’m opposed to it and yet, I’m going to say, it’s good news.

So, what happens is in a two-state solution, Israel is very tiny as it is, Israel will fit into Texas 33 times. Israel is a very, very small nation. Israel represents 1/8th of 1% of the land in the Middle East. Okay, got that?

Rick:

1/8th of 1%. I mean, 1% is small. So, you know, out of $1, that’s one penny. And so, you’re saying, it’s 1/8th of that?

David:

That’s right.

So, out of $100 bill, so we’re less than a dime, right? Is that right?

David:

It’d be $0.12 out of $100. Yeah, yeah. Anyway, our math not being where it should. It’s very tiny bit.

Rick:

We weren’t warned that there would be a math to show today. Yeah.

David:

Yeah. So, it’s a very small, very meager amount. Israel is surrounded by all sorts of Arab Muslim lands that have billions of miles of acres to which the Palestinians could easily go. Go to Jordan. Go to Palestine. Go to Saudi Arabia. Go to Iraq. Go to Egypt. No, we want Israel’s land. That’s why I’m opposed two-state solution. There’s no other place Jews can go and be safe in their own homeland. And so, when they’re already at 1/8th to 1%, why are we taking that away to give to folks that are surrounded by allies who have the same beliefs and philosophy and have so much more land available they could give? Why do we force the guys with the least amount to give up the most? And I absolutely oppose that. I oppose that also on biblical grounds, because God told Abraham, this is your land, I’m giving it to you forever. And God marked out the boundaries of that land. He said, this is for you and your descendants forever. I mean, there’s so many Bible verses I can point to. God is the one who gave them boundaries. Were told in Acts 17:26, God is the one who sets the boundaries of nations. End of story.

So, for me, Israel is got a boundary that God gave them. They don’t have to give that up because of political pressure elsewhere. And that’s why I don’t like the two-state solution. By the way, the two-state solution is so bad militarily, that in the two-state solution proposed by Clinton, Obama and others, it gives the opponents, it gives the Palestinians the high ground in Israel and gives Israel the low ground. It makes Israel only nine miles wide. And when you give the enemy the high ground and you’ve got weapons that shoot hundreds of miles and you can look over that nine miles, you can see the other side of Israel across that nine miles, what are we doing to Israel? Oh my gosh, we put them…

Rick:

Nine miles wide. I mean, I can’t think of many cities in…

David:

That aren’t nine miles wide. Yeah, yeah, exactly. And so, I mean, literally from the mountain tops there, you can see the other side of Israel across that nine miles. And so that’s why I think that the plan is so bad. So why do I think President Trump’s plan is good? Because he did what he needed to politically. He from the American standpoint did everything he could to make the Palestinians happy and to make the Jews happy and to make the Arabs happy and he did everything.

But what he did that killed this plan was he said, okay, if you Palestinians want to live there with Israel, is you have to give up terrorism, you have to renounce terrorism. You have to stop paying people to go blow up Jews. And the Palestinians would not agree to do that. So, he really outdid the Palestinians as terrorists who don’t want their own land, they want Israel’s land. They don’t want to live in peace with Israel, they want perpetual war. So, he put conditions on the Palestinians that they rejected openly. The peace plan is dead.

I was there in Israel when all this stuff came out. And I talked to political leaders in Israel, who are against the two-state solution. And they were very happy with the plan, because there’s no way the Palestinians are ever going to agree to lay down terrorism.

And so that that’s why, you know, as Trump announced the plan, he had Likud leader there, Benjamin Netanyahu, he had Gantz there, who’s leader of the Blue and White Party, which those are the two big parties in Israel and both of them back Trump’s plan, not because they agree with the two-state solution, but because they knew there’s no way that Palestinians are going to agree to the conditions he put on it. And the conditions he put on it were reasonable in anybody’s thinking. So, I think Trump did a great job of meeting all the expectations. Nobody can complain against him for not trying to bring peace in the Middle East. He just made reasonable demands and the Palestinians were unwilling to meet them. I think it’s a great job by Trump. And I think it’s really good news for Israel, because this thing is not going anywhere. And I like that.

Rick:

Well is another example of good news from around the world, but very much because of who’s in the White House right now and the type of leadership that President Trump is providing, not only for our nation, but the entire world. We got to take a quick break. When we come back, we got more good news, this time from Tim Barton. Tim, get ready, you’re up next. Here we go on WallBuilders Live.

BREAK

This is David Barton with another moment from America’s history. Over recent years, elections and politics in general have become increasingly partisan. One party is pitted against the others, each advances his own stereotypes. President George Washington believed this was detrimental to the nation. He declared, “Let me warn you in the most solemn men are against the baneful effects of the spirit of poverty. Its common and continual messages are sufficient to make it the interest and duty of a wise people to discourage and restrain it. It agitates the community with ill-founded jealousies and false alarms. It kindles the animosity of one party against another. And governments purely elected, the spirit of party is a spirit not to be encouraged.” Therefore, in this year’s elections, do not allow political party to be a deciding factor. Vote for each candidate according to the principles and policies that he individually represents.

Rick:

Thanks for staying with us on Good News Friday. Today, folks, we’ve got a lot of good news coming your way, so hang in there. Here’s the next piece of good news. Tim Barton is got it. Tim.

Tim:

Yeah, guys, this is stuff coming from the White House, from the Trump administration and specifically from President Trump. I’m going to go back in time just a little bit, because in my stack of stuff, I have stuff from the end of last year and I actually think we might have already mentioned some of this, guys. But it’s worth noting as, especially if I haven’t, we want to make sure uncovered and if I have, then it’s worth reminding people again. Back up to Christmas time when President Trump gave his Christmas message and first of all, it was refreshing that we had a Christmas message and not a holiday message or a winter message. Right? We remember, no, no. Christmases right, Christmas, that’s what it’s about. There’s a reason on December 25, right, the Christmas day. In the midst of Trump giving this Christmas address, one of the things he encouraged Americans. He says, together, we must strive to foster a culture of deeper understanding and respect, traits that exemplify the teachings of Christ.

It’s been a while since we heard a president talking about the teachings of Christ and I know that there are many Trump critics who would go, yeah, but he doesn’t follow the teachings of Christ, etc, etc, etc. And you know, largely some of those accusations are true, although I would point out that all have sinned and fallen short of the glory of God. But even though that we certainly have an imperfect Commander in-Chief. And again, we can go down the list, talk about all the imperfections of all the people that serve anywhere in the world or even in our own family. Right? That’s not really the point.

The point is that when you have the leader of the free world, right, the person who has arguably the most powerful position in the world, encouraging people to exemplify the teachings of Christ, that’s a really cool thing to happen. Another thing quickly guys, I’m going to try to get a couple of these things in. This article says, Trump administration ramps up fight against human trafficking. The very end of January 31st, President Trump signed an executive order.” Which this article says “He signed it into law on January 31st and it was to combat human trafficking. And here’s part of what it says. On combating human trafficking and online child exploitation in the United States, it prioritizes resources to vigorously prosecute offenders, to assist victims and to provide prevention education, to combat human trafficking and online sexual exploitation of children.”

So certainly really, really good stuff, recognizing that the world we live in, there’s a lot of evil people doing very evil things. And not the least of those things are human trafficking, which right at this point, a lot of human trafficking, there’s a lot of sex trafficking involved, there’s a lot of organ harvesting involved. And the most common things, slavery is still a common practice in much of the world.

There was an article that came out just a couple of weeks ago. And the article highlighted that of the 193 member nations at the United Nations, 94 of those nations, in those nations, slavery is still legal and 94 nations who are a part of the member nations at the United Nations. And so, the idea that we need to stop human trafficking while slavery is still legal and human trafficking probably is a thing that is, is much more embraced and happens a lot in those countries, especially with sex trafficking. Even we know organ harvesting has been happening in several nations, the listeners might be familiar with the fact that we’ve been very involved with an organization called the Nazarene Fund. And partly The Nazarene Fund is now headed by Tim Ballard, who has Operation Underground Railroad.

There’s a lot of groups that we work with to try to help persecuted people around the world, persecuted Christians, persecuted religious minorities. And in the midst of that fighting against some of this sex trafficking and even as President Trump mentioned, some of this child exploitation now, and this executive order also deals with child pornography. So just all around, it’s really good that you are seeing a president, specifically President of the United States stand up and say, hey, this is totally wrong. It’s not good, it shouldn’t be happening. And that he’s willing to help put funding, right, you kind of put your money where your mouth is, he’s putting funding behind the efforts to stop this exploitation of kids, to stop the human trafficking.

One of the things when the order is broken down, one of the things that says is that it focuses on prosecution protection and prevention, so three really good areas to focus on. The article is very thick, it’s very long, but it just highlights the fact that President Trump and the administration is working actively to stop some very bad and evil things. And that is really good news.

Rick:

Welcome back to WallBuilders Live, more good news right now from David Barton. David.

We’re going international again. And this time, we’re going to the European Union. So, the EU which is all that conglomeration of all the European nations and what they become and of course, that Brexit deal with Boris Johnson, you know, Great Britain wants to leave the EU and others don’t like what’s happening with the EU. But there is a resolution that was offered in the EU that would condemn Israel.

And man, when you get to the United Nations these things just that Israel is just the dog in the world as far as they’re concerned, that’s the one you want to kick and beat up and no other nation in the world is nearly as bad as Israel from the UN standpoint. And that’s pretty much the way it is with secular progressive anywhere.

And so now, however, the EU actually, 11 countries in the EU voted in favor of Israel. And that’s a record. They’ve never had that many countries say, hey, no, no, we’re standing with Israel, defending Israel. So that is…

Rick:

Yeah, a lot of times, is just us or maybe that’s one other country. Yeah.

David:

Yeah. It’s just us and one other country. And by the way, kind of to explain how goofy, now we’re talking EU here, but I’m going to jump over to the UN for a minute to explain how goofy the UN is. There’s usually 194, 195, 193, 197 nations at the EU in any given year, right around 195 mark. It goes up and down with who’s had a revolutionary, who’s had a civil war, who’s split or whatever. So, take that 195 mark, of that mark, do you know what the position is of most of those nations or half of those nations or a fourth of those nations, do you know that that UN position is on slavery? I mean, slavery like Civil War slavery, like racial slavery, like owning someone else, making them your slave, do you know what the UN position is on slavery?

Rick:

And these are these are countries in the EU, what their position are in the UN?

David:

No, we’re talking the UN right now. Just UN. Just UN.

Rick:

You know, I just saw a headline recently about a high percentage of countries that still allow slavery, like what you’re talking about, but I can’t remember. I mean, I know it shocked me how many, but I would guess you know, the UN pretty lacks on it, because they got so many member countries that still have slavery.

David:

94 member countries consider slavery to be legal in their country. There are 40 million slaves today. 94 countries it is legally acceptable to own slaves in that country. And we’re looking at these guys and they’re voting on whether Israel is moral or not, whether Israel is good or not. Are you kidding me? Nations that still practice active slavery today? And so, we say, well, the UN condemned Israel. Yeah, maybe so, I mean, guys that think is twisted is that they still have slavery. So, you got to understand that mentality.

So, when you jump over to the EU, it’s the same kind of goofiness and thinking, but these 11 nations that have said, we’re not going to condemn Israel, so many of them are the younger Christian nations in Israel. What is happening with the Czech Republic and Hungary? What’s happening with Poland? What is happening with the Ukraine? What is happening with these nations? They are young Christian nations trying to be true Christian nations in the sense of live by God’s standards and as a result, they’re friends and allies of Israel. And so, the France’s and the Italy’s and the Germany’s and the Spain’s and the other seculars, you know, they’ve got trouble with Israel, but not these young Christian nations. So, that’s a really good sign in Israel as well.

And by the way, one other piece of good news that goes with that. In the Poland elections, the Conservative Party in Poland recently just cleaned house. They won, four years ago, I think I was there right after the elections. And everybody was shocked because conservatives have won and they couldn’t believe conservatives have won. And they’re conservatives are like our conservatives. I mean, they’re physical conservatives. They’re pro-God kind of people. The people in Poland voted to reinstitute the Sabbath. The people voted that. The people in Poland voted, we’re not going to allow abortion. I mean, very conservative, this young Christian nation.

And so, they just got reelected. That party got reelected. Was a surprise four years ago. They just got reelected with a huge jump in support, more and more people. And what they are is their immigration, their economics is very conservative. Their immigration says, you know what? We’re not taking open Muslims in our country unless they want to be part of it. And by the way, we had the Chechens come in and the EU keeps telling us we have to accept all Muslims who come to our country. And the highest crime rate we have in Poland is where we have the Muslim populations. And we’re not doing that, we’re happy to have immigrants. But they’ve got to be willing to come into a nation that has Christian values. And you don’t have to be a Christian, but you at least have to agree with our values and not try to kill us.

And so that’s what’s happening with Hungary. And that’s what’s happening with Ukraine. That’s what’s happening with Romania and the Czech Republic and Poland. And these guys are winning elections, on what we might consider a conservative political platform. And that’s a healthy move for Europe. And it goes so contrary to what Europe has been over recent decades as it become more and more secular.

Rick:

Got to take a quick break. We’ll be back with more good news. Stay with us, you’re listening to WallBuilders Live.

BREAK

Hi, this is David Barton. I want to let you know about a brand new book we have out called, ‘This Precarious Moment: Six Urgent Steps That Will Save You, Your Family and Our Country. Jim, Garlow and I have co-authored this book. We look at all six of those issues right now that are under attack and we give you both biblical and historical perspective on those issues that provides solutions on what each of us can do right now to make a difference.

These are all problems that are solvable if we’ll get involved. So, you can grab the book, ‘This Precarious Moment’ and find out what you can do to make a difference. ‘This Precarious Moment’ is available at wallbuilders.com.

Rick:

Welcome back to WallBuilders Live. Our final segment of the day, Tim Barton is got the next piece of good news or last piece of good news for the day. Tim.

Tim:

Alright, guys, this is from Virginia. And although it is good news, there certainly is some surrounding drama to it. If you guys recall several weeks ago, there was a pastor who was asked to come and give an opening prayer in the Virginia legislature which is not uncommon to have a pastor, someone come in and different state legislators can choose a pastor from their region to come and deliver prayer. In fact, many of these state legislators are in fact themselves pastors.

Well, the pastor who was chosen to come deliver this prayer is Pastor Reverend Dr. Robert M. Grant Jr. He serves at the Father’s Way Church in Warrington. He also helps run a charity to help orphans in Africa. And he received the invitation from delegate, Dave Lowe Rock from Loudon. And when he got up to deliver his prayer, part of the thing he prayed against offended a whole lot of people. Because specifically, he prayed against abortion and just kind of goes off on the atrocity and abomination of abortion and hit a few hot topic issues in the middle of his prayer, that God would help those things to be condemned and, right that we protect value of life, etc.

Well, some Democrats started shouting him down in his prayer. Some Democrats got up and left. It really kind of disrupted. They say it caused him to end his prayer early. And after the prayer was over, Grant was asked, why would you do that? Right? And kind of put him in defensive position of why he would pray against proabortion Democrats.

And so, here’s what he said. “I think the state house belongs to all citizens and all the citizens have a voice. If it is my turn to have a voice and I’m a pastor, then what do you expect from me?” Now, I love that thought, that, right if I’m a pastor, what else am I supposed to do? Because he recognizes, right that abortion is wrong. And guys, certainly, we remember Virginia is one of the states who had some really radical thoughts when it came to abortion. The governor came out, I think was last year and talked about if there was a baby who was born alive and the mother intended to have an abortion and it’s okay for them to go ahead and kill the baby after it’s already alive if the mom intended to kill it.

And one of the things that have happened under the kind of the democratic control now in their State House is they have rolled back a lot of abortion restrictions that have previously been passed. For example, they have now rolled back the restriction that only doctors can perform abortions. Now, they say, no, really anybody can, that women don’t have to be fully informed. They wrote back that restriction before they have an abortion. Legislation making its way up the chain right now in Virginia, is to remove any parental consent before minors can have an abortion.

And what’s interesting is that end of this prayer, one of the pastors who is in the State House of the Democrat came out and said, look, most prayers are delivered as blessings for the legislature’s. In my opinion, right what was said in many ways felt more like a condemnation than a prayer of blessing. And this is where I would say, first of all, kudos to the pastor, in a culture that is squishy and wants to get along and be politically correct, he had the gall to stand up and say, no, we’re not going to do that. And he didn’t just pray a prayer of feel good. He prayed a prayer that God would help bring end to this evil. So that is good news that there’s a pastor willing to stand up for what’s right in Virginia.

Rick:

Well, there’s more and more of that across the country. It is encouraging to see the boldness with which leaders, you know, Christian leaders in all walks of life are willing to stand. You can be one of those kind of folks, you can be the person that is a catalyst in your community for restoring these biblical and constitutional principles.

One of the ways you can do that is sharing WallBuilders Live with as many people as you possibly can. This program is dedicated to equipping and inspiring and engaging citizens across the country to understand where we came from, how our freedom works and how to participate in that freedom and to do that from a biblical, constitutional and historical perspective, whether you’re a pastor out there listening right now, a business leader, a citizen that just says, I want to do my part in my community, there’s so many different ways that you can participate. So, we challenge you to do that.

You can find out more at wallbuilderslive.com today. That’s the place where you can listen to the program, share it with your friends and family, get them engaged. It’s also the place where you can make that contribution. So, when you make a donation at wallbuilderslive.com, that money, those dollars go to expand this voice, to get more citizens engaged. It’s a great way to participate.

I often say here on the program, lives, fortune, sacred honor, just like the Founding Fathers. That’s how they signed the Declaration of Independence. That’s what birthed our nation in many ways. Today, it’s still required, it’s still necessary for us to give our life, our time, meaning becoming students of freedom, maybe running for office, maybe just helping to educate other people, hosting the Constitution class, whatever it might be. But fortunes, live’s fortunes, that means now we got to give of our dollars. That’s right. We got to invest our dollars into freedom. We got to invest in good candidates. Find folks who can donate to, invest in good programs, in good education for young people and for others around us. Invest in this program, WallBuilders Live and that is an opportunity to expand the voice of freedom across our nation. Lives, fortunes, sacred honor, we all have a part to play. I pray today you’ll go to wallbuilderslive.com and look for ways to participate and be a part of the solution.

Thanks so much for listening. You’ve been listening to WallBuilders Live.
